I'm not a fan of CGI, but after seeing how they used it in the new Code Geass movies, and if they don't half-ass the CGI like they do in 99% of TV anime, I'm totally DTF with this.

Please let Valvrave be good, Please let it be a success like Code Geass... After this year's triple disappointment of Aquarion EVOL, Eureka Seven AO and Gundam AGE, mecha anime really needs a shot in arm.

Hey Sunrise.....you do know there are many other genres right?

You do know that you can't replicate the success of Code Geass, right?

Mobile Suit Gundam looks to be much more successful... I mean look at the 18 meter tall models...

Personally Zeta is still my favorite Mecha Anime.

Not a big fan of cg and never really got into Tiger and Bunny... so I'll probably pass. Sunrise should just do Gundam Unicorn and Origins instead >_>

He probably means two things

1. Sunrise has done alot of work outside of mecha, some of their more notable stuff being Gintama, InuYasha, Cowboy Bepop.

2. Gundam is more successful than Code Geass.

Yes they've done plenty of non-mecha shows even this year and Code Geass is far from their most successful and enduring property. Even a simple visit to the companies page on this very website will showcase this. Basically it helps for people to actually do their research before making broad sweeping claims, especially when they are so utterly wrong in the most astounding ways.

Why talk about CodeGeass?
One of the best-selling series of sunrise is SEED Destiny, with something like 100k copies...
SEED DESTINY!!!1
Who the hell liked SEED Destiny????
It's one of the series that has sold more in japan, more than Madoka, and it's still selling with the remake....but who the hell liked it????
</ot>

Well, I'm not losing this, that simil-Zwei Gundam looks cool, too bad for the CG, but it's not that awful if well-managed.
Also, maybe you didn't noticed but the RX-0 is often made in CG.
In 2013 also comes out the new Tomino's project, G-Reko, I hope it will the year of a mecha limelight.

PS
Mechas in CodeGeass suck, they're just commercial and the design is horrible, the story is the same without them.
Quite better in Akito.

The problem here is attributing shows to a studio as large and heterogeneous as Sunrise instead of the staff that actually worked on them. If anything, Bebop is more of a Bones show since a lot of the people who worked on it went on to form the studio shortly after. Plus Shinichiro Watanabe isn't really affiliated with any studio.

Eureka Seven AO, Gundam AGE, Star Driver, Break Blade etc. Macross is pretty much stuck with 3DCG because of Kawamori.

CGI generally makes me go meh but this still.. looked okay. So we'll see how it turns out. Design looks good overall, and the last mecha shows have all been rather weak, so whooray. I'll give it a try. :c

People moving on after doesn't suddenly mean they can take credit for previous work under a new company's name, they were under sunrise when they did it. They can take credit for their role in the show but trying to pass it off as bones work is just dishonest.

Am i the only one who thought the best thing about SUNRISE was the fact they used drawn stocks for mecha and not CGI? sure CGI is more fluid, but i dont really think it looks better, it just looks out of place

Katsura Hoshino did the characters design? That kind of unexpected.

For some reason that mecha kind remind me of Barnaby's suit a little, probably the red & the pointy green thing.

TMR x Mizuki Nana OP
Angela ED

Mecha is a genre I feel I've watched enough to be bored of, but the OP/ED line-up is far too good to pass by. Will definitely give this a try.
