I like your review of The Conqueror of Shamballa, but they did not make that movie because the fans didn't like the ending of the series, as the movie was already in pre-production while the series was still running in 2004.

Your review for The Wind Rises is a bit rambling (that first paragraph has nothing to do with the movie, and isn't necessary information regarding the movie), but once you get past the first paragraph it becomes much better.

While I don't agree that it deserves a 10/10, you hit the major "Like" points of the movie: planes, music and the dreams. I found faults with the movie, but everyone has their own opinion :)

I think your review would be easier to read with more white space. Break up those long paragraphs into smaller ones, and it would be a good review!

I just scrolled over your Gurren Lagann review. I was not impressed.

Did you believe me?

In all seriousness, I read your review thoroughly and thought it was a nice, passionate review, but I can't mark it Helpful due to the fact that it seemed too biased with some informal remarks here and there (mostly fucks). Other than said concerns, your review sparked some interest from me, and so I'll be sure to remember your name so that I may read more reviews of yours in the future if I can get to them! Until then.

Merry Christmas!

Yeah, definitely a masterpiece for its time in my opinion. Hell, I think it stands up to modern day titles easily if you can look past the art. Yeah exactly! That's the only part I was questioning too, and I gave it a 9 based on that and a couple other small flaws. It definitely didn't hold Lain back from leaving a lasting impression on me that can't really be met by anything else I've seen to date. Nothing else was able to provoke or pose such serious questions and intriguing thoughts about the ins and outs of life as we know it.

Thanks! I just changed it to this, after I finished Season 1 of 00, which I though was pretty amazing. I'm getting the full series for Christmas, so I'll see Season 2 around then. Glad you replied, and feel free to comment about anything; I'll be happy to talk more.

I see you finished Serial Experiments Lain recently! I also finished it fairly recent, and it was an amazing sculpture of a series. We scored it the same, and it also seems we score some other things similar also.

Peace!

Apologies for the delayed reply.

Given that the anime adaptation is only a small fraction of the overall story it's still worth watching. It's easily one of the better heroic fantasies of the last decade.

I do understand what you are saying. The main problem, as I see it, is the vast age difference between me and most anime viewers. I have different tastes. I don't care much for ecchi, harem fan-service centered anime. I really like a good story and most of those seem to be in genres that are not what the young people are watching. I also like experimental, obscure and very old anime. And I like the artsy stuff too. My big thing is "Tell me a good story". When the popular titles are full of plot holes, ask the viewer to believe an unbelievable premise or just don't get the facts right, I say something about it. I do discuss titles on numerous forum sites and with anyone who wishes as long a civility is maintained. Incidentally I do like fantasy and sci-fi and many of those have some wild stories, but if they are developed well, that makes the story believable, at least to me. I like the way I discuss anime now. I really doubt I will write any more reviews, but who knows? If I find a relatively unknown GEM, I might just do that.

My views are not real popular on MAL (or elsewhere for that matter) so I discontinued them and removed the few I wrote. I call a spade a spade and I have had some harsh things to say about some very popular titles. Rather than put up with the barrage of attacks, I chose to not write any more. I wish my experience on MAL to be pleasant. I let others write the reviews and I often get into discussions with the writers about the titles on a one to one basis. I am 66 years old and do not wish to get into tirades with teens about a title.
