Look no further than the original series. Amuro starts off as a pussy, but by the end of the series he's fucking awesome.

Man...at the end there, it was kind of nice seeing that the Unicorn ran out of fuel.

Yeah, that was a nice touch. Don't think I ever remember a mobile suit running out of fuel in the UC timeline. It was a nice touch. I also liked all the small details throughout the episode. Just goes to show how high quality anime can be with enough time and budget.

Me neither. I always knew they used fuel but they never run out. This ep was pretty awesome. I love the new OSTs used, and they also used my favorites the battle, mag nug, and mobile suit woot! This is probably the greatest gundam series made. Glad they are going to make episode 7, but now we have to wait 6 months lol.

A year, actually. Ep 6 got delayed to spring 2013 with ep 7 an undisclosed amount of time after that.

Why did it get delayed?

I know this is a bit old in this thread but this series was originally slated for only 6 episodes but with the response the series has received it was extended to 7. They announced it around the same time this ep 5 was released. So a little shuffle on splitting up the last ep and adding more content!

While reaffirming my lack of knowledge about the Gundam saga, I really enjoyed this OVA. This time, I found it all makes sense, heart pounding until the end.
The beautiful part about the action, many scenarios in the same battle.
Full Frontal's pawa! * w *
Now missing only one OVA to see, then I have to wait until it arrives in my country as an Italian language version of the Seventh Unicorn OVA! : D

Sooo much better than the last episode. Banagher finally found his strength and realized he can fight without killing. Ridhee Marcenas got humilliated to the point of homicidal non return and unwieldy alliances were formed once again (surely only to be broken next ep, LOL, it is Gundam after all). And we got cameo's from Kai and from what I believe is Amuro's old flame Irma Beltorchika.

The animation was as usual breathtaking.

Please let Frontal and Banagher team up that would be just too cool.

Riddhe can't let go of Audrey, that's going to get him killed. And becoming the pilot of the Banshee basically just raised his death flag. The scene where he started attacking Marida was very reminiscent of Jerid killing four back in Zeta gundam. I'm just glad he didn't kill the anyone; I would've been so sad.

And apparently Char and Amuro died at the end of Chars counterattack. I swear they both survived after Amuro pushed back axis :/

Good to see Kai and Beltorchika. Bright Noa staring at Amuro's pictures brings back a lot of memories from the original.

So, they're calling it now the "Axis Shock"?

Nice cameos from Beltorchika and Kai Shiden. The Dogosse Giar-class, General Revil makes an appearance as well.

And am I the only one who thought that Bright Noa would slap Banagher the moment he grabbed his arm? That would straighten him up.

You know, I always wondered why so many mechas feature scenes where a mecha could easily be destroyed or at least captured, but because it's such an easy plot device...no character would ever think of the obvious....how....boring, incoming Riddhe and the Banshee fucking shit up for Banagher next episode!

Otherwise pretty good episode.

Great episode, but i do agree this is probably the weakest of all the episodes so far. It just starts out very slow and just talking.

I'm really disappointed how wimp Links is. He may not cry and mope as other Gundam pilots, but damn he kinda irks me at times.

Marida is the pilot of the Black Unicorn Banshee!?!

Nice to see Bright Noa giving some advice to Banagher. For someone who already saw three pilots being chosen for Gundam(Amuro, Kamille, Judau), i definitely will trust whatever he says. Especially the valuable experience he has.

What i don't get is how the hell did Banagher went to federation then the Neon Zeon. Even Bright Noa is helping Nahel Argama with Captain.

It's just kinda confusing how easily people switch sides out of nowhere.

Lol Riddhe reminds me of what happened to Kou in Stardust Memory. Poor guy. At least it seems he'll be piloting Banshee though :O

At least Marida is back to herself ^^

When Unicorn emitted a green light. It reminded me the finall battle that happened between Amuro and Char. Even 00 Gundam emitted the green light from his twin GN Drive!!!

Damn when Full Frontal came, he instantly wrecked people left and right!!!!

Only 2 episodes left and a recap. Man i wonder what the final battle will be!!?!

Can't wait for the final 2 episodes!!

Riddhe on the other hand...
I know right? While I was getting progressively tired of Riddhe's overly defeatist attitude and possessiveness toward Mineva, seeing Marida mistreat the Delta Plus like that was genuinely hard to watch. Speaking of Marida, I'm happy that she was able to break the "curse" of the PIes and managed to regain her freedom without having to die in the process: it really would've felt redundant to kill yet another mentally unstable Cyber Newtype.

But since we're on the topic of Newtypes, it's pretty much confirmed now that Mineva is one, I presume? This girl is no idiot and while she's very trusting of Banagher, I don't think she would've performed that leap of faith if she wasn't at least hopeful that her voice would reach out to him. Still though, that was really fucking dangerous.

Overall I enjoyed this episode, though it's certainly not my favorite as I feel it relied too much on old UC Gundam tricks when it comes to characterization and development of its main cast that I was never really fond of, and Riddhe's mindset and behaviour remind me of Jerid's and Kamille's worst traits combined into one person, which is not good at all. If he turns out to be the main antagonist of the last two episodes I'm gonna be disappointed.

edit: the BGM that played when the psycho field appeared broke my heart into millions of pieces and turned it into fucking stardust.

Probably shouldn't have not taken a week break from the show after episode 4.. but I was honestly lost to what the fuck was going on. People changing sides, all this back story.. the hell. I take blame for my poor memory, but Jesus.. it was just too much story/talking in the first half of the show.

With all of that said.. holy crap was that still awesome! The animation, fight scenes, the characters, the Kai appearance and Bright being the veteran that he is knowing he can trust in a Gundam pilot. I really enjoyed Marida breaking through and Mineva/Banagher reuniting rocked. And now for the ablugtapry "geek, dweeb, annoying, petulant teenager" tittle goes to in this series: Riddhe! Congrats my friend!

Shortest episode so far

Bright’s new VA is doing a pretty decent job at sounding close to the original, I think.
Even Beltorchika made an appearance (and with the same VA as in Zeta)
And even Toshio Furukawa as Kai, even 31 years after the initial role!

Funny moment on 14:40 when the girl’s face went from 2 blurry dots to a fully drawn face when she came close to the camera :p

Just noticed it, but how big is the irony of having tri-stars as Federation pilots?

I thought that all weapons were removed from Unicorn before transfer to Garuda, how did it get a beam saber?

Newtype magic saved the day again, yay! And then deus ex machine a.k.a Angelo arrived and obliterated everybody with his mobile suit and funnels :p

And OF COURSE the best part of the episode is the successful rescue of Elpy Puru Elpeo Ple Twelve a.k.a Marida, or, as the Captain called her at the end, Marie :3 Hope she survives till the end!

The Newtype magic is starting to detract from my enjoyment of the show.

Riddhe is probably tied with Iok as the most delusional moron in Gundam. Bright explicitly told him "whatever happens, protect the Unicorn!" and then when he sees the Unicorn refusing to fight the Banshee, he headcanons it as Banagher having turned against him (disregarding the fact that Riddhe was right there next to Banagher in Australia when Banagher refused to fight Loni and tried talking her down). And then he completely disregards what Mineva says - Mineva, the supposed object of his affection - so he can keep pushing his own fanciful version of reality.

Lol on Mineva using Newtype telepathy to summon her faithful slave Banagher to her, as if he's her personal ondemand mount/bodyguard/servant. Then again, Banagher has no one to blame but himself for wanting to be her slave.

The CGI killed this episode for me, they mixed it in well before and didn't overuse it. Why the change now? It looks so ridiculous and stupid.. really hate seeing such poor CGI around such high quality animation.

Yeah. Before this, the CGI had been limited to short transformation sequences, and short shots of the Argama or the Garencieres, but now we're getting several minutes of footage showcasing... let's be honest: not good CGI.

Origin probably has the best looking 3D CGI vehicles I've seen in anime but they still look bad compared to 2D animation. 2D animation is what people came for. I don't understand why Sunrise won't give people what they came for.

Does she even love Banagher? Also, Riddhe didn't go nuts. He was already nuts. Only thing that has changed is that he has finally realized that Mineva never loved him.

Kinda sad we didn't see a pic of the whole White Base crew, or the Argama crews from Zeta and ZZ.

The main villains thus far are the Vist Foundation. They want to reclaim the Unicorn and prevent Laplace's Box from falling into anyone else's hands. The Vist Foundation's members apparently control the Federation.

Bright and Banagher don't want to give the Unicorn to the Vist Foundation. Because the Foundation controls the Feddies, that means that the Unicorn needs to be kept out of Feddie hands. That's why having it be captured by the Sleeves would be preferable to it being captured or destroyed by the General Revil.

Well, Riddhe has finally lost his mind. He was technically "turned down" by Mineva, and I believe that he may want to take revenge on Banagher now.

Also, it looks like Marida may have been saved, which is a rare feat in Gundam.
