According to Rolling Stones Magazine, these were the top 10 WORST songs of the 1990's:

1. Aqua, "Barbie Girl"

2. Los Del Rio, "Macarena"

3. Billy Ray Cyrus, "Achy Breaky Heart"

4. Vanilla Ice, "Ice Ice Baby"

5. Chumbawamba, "Tubthumping"

6. Hanson, "MMMBop"

7. Celine Dion, "My Heart Will Go On"

8. Baha Men, "Who Let The Dogs Out?"

9. Right Said Fred, "I'm Too Sexy"

10. 4 Non Blondes, "What's Up?"

http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/rs_sotd/6047/barbie-girl-tops-rolling-stones-worst-songs-of-the-90s/

Pretty funny how the majority of these songs are "One Hit Wonders" and we even have an Academy Award winning song in the list.

For those of you that don't know "Barbie Girl"....here you go:

^Perfect Pick for #1 if you ask me....

LOL....I love how You Tube comments are all defending these songs...

It seems like people seem to forget just how HORRIBLY ANNOYING all these songs were in the 90s.

As a 90s Kid myself, I must admit there was a time I loved most of these songs...but I look back and see how stupid these songs really were.

Something being a little stupid(sometimes deliberately) doesn't stop it from being fun.

Anyway why should we care about the ten most hated 90's songs anyway? What's the point here?

But yes, I agree that I don't really care about the list itself.

The main thing is, people just voted songs that (they believed) made too much money and got more popularity than they (supposedly) deserved.

But it's not like the list is going to do anything. It's just retrospective.

There's NO WAY I could ever hate these songs....they're stupid, but still bring back so many great memories of the 90s.

C'mon Who doesn't love Barbie Girl, I'm too Sexy, ice ice baby, Who let the dogs out....

I think Rolling Stones made a great selection....these songs are just LAUGHABLE, but they're NOT hated.

Heheheheheheheheheheheheeh

Yeah the top 10 worst songs yet they became massive hits for some reason.

Then again, I couldn't give a flying fuck for anything printed in Rolling Stone either.

I haven't thought much of music since the 80s though. I miss the real bands of the 70s before dumb ass music videos appeared.

Today, 90% of what I listen to either has to be via a well made AMV, or I also like my son's tastes in trance music.
While not technically anime, currently I am a big fan of Hatsune Miku.
At least I can go see her in concert.

Havent heard like half of those.. well maybe or cant remember but few like barbie girl just is easy and nice to listen at , not just ever got into "listening" music of any sorts too much. Just few songs here and there and mostly bands/singers has like 1 or 2 songs that are interesting.

I can think of worse songs from the 90s:

Cock a Doodle Do It - Eggs on Legs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ge9zh_eI_DQ

Mr Blobby - Mr Blobby

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h37KQu64RY4

No Limits - Ricky Kitty and the Klaws

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMK4HzSSehw

Haven Tiger Club Theme

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfPNGHBVkFI

And I don't think this song is as bad as the others but seems suitable for this thread:

Let's Get Ready to Rumble - PJ & Duncan

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_sJmIQrH54

So on the one hand music videos are stupid, yet you only watch things via AMVs?

It's always been popular to hate Celine Dion for some odd reason.

I dunno, maybe people just don't like the fact that she isn't a slut has a successful marriage and actually has one of the best female singing voices on the planet beaten out only by (in my opinion) Enya (no one sounds better than Enya).

I also like that she's my age, and we are both from Quebec.

most of those songs would almost always be played at least once at those gay school dances... and each time I would die inside. Although I don't see why Celine Dion is in there... it was far from the worst song from the 90's. I think everything N-Sync made was far worse... >_>

Seriously! Hatin' on Celine Dion? She's got one of the best voices I've ever heard.
I can kind of understand that the people may start hating the song because of 'Titanic' and its overexposure, but the title is 'WORST' not 'MOST HATED DUE TO BEING ON EVERY FRIGGIN' RADIO STATION 24 HOURS A DAY, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK' songs so yeah, not really justifiable to have the song on this list. Not that I really care though ヽ(´ー`)ノ

Because something is a hit, does not make it good. For the most part I agree that these are all poor songs with the exception of Celine Dion who has talent vocally, although I am still not a fan. Outside of that, these were popular songs that were catchy, nothing more. When looked at in terms of vocals, lyrical content, or musical ability, none of them even come close to meeting the bar imo.

A matter of taste, so I'm talking about my own preferences. I consider these songs to be in the "so bad, it's good" category. I mean, come on, you giggled at least when you first listened to "I'm too sexy", right? That gives them a sort of a redeeming value. Especially when compared to today's mainstream crap that are just plainly bad. Here's to all Rihanna's, Pitbull's, Britney Spear's and whatever else is supposed to be good today.
Signature? I ain't got no signature! I don't need no signature! I don't have to show you any stinkin' signature!
