Recently, I sent a friend request to someone without checking their last online and was dissappointed to find that they were last online in 2015. Lot of emotions went through my mind especially- What might have happened to them?

Yeah. Especially if they were once very active on the site (lots of comments, friends, posts, reviews, etc)

Sorta, after like 4-5 + years you just get bored and move on.

Yeah, there's a lot of them. Feels like a lot of them just stopped watching anime, or drastically reduced the amount pf anime they watched thus leading to them leaving this site or just moving to Anilist or Kitsu.

my first guess is that they problably don't have nay reason to be on mal anymore, weather they died or because they grew out of anime or maybe htey just switched accounts, is none of my buisness or sometihng its worth worrying about

There's one user who I interacted with a lot in my early days on the site, a fellow Touhou fan (who I won't namedrop without permission). Their account is completely gone now, so I think they left on their own accord? *Shrug* More than anything, I just hope they're doing ok

Sometime it's a little sad seeing someone who was frequently on old forums not active anymore.

Like Introverturtle. I saw them on tons of old forums yet they haven't updated in years.

My guess is usually just that they lost interest in anime.
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

Oh yeah for some reason I've seen sooooooo many user profiles that are not active anymore like there's some that are going back from 2012. It's kind of sad cause there's some I've stumbled across and wanted to become friends with them cause of similar anime tastes, or interests but they're not here anymore. T_T

Well, a good 99% of the people I've interacted with on this site have disappeared over the years. What happened to them? Some went to university, others got a job, some simply got tired of anime and moved on to cinema or whatever else, etcetera. I've also been in their shoes and have disappeared for long stretches of time. At some point, you walk away from the computer and realize MAL was just a damn anime site that never had any true impact on your life.

Yep, maybe they moved on about their life, maybe they forgot about their mal password. Hope they moved on in a positive way.

Seeing those dead profiles is a reminder that I'll probably do the same thing and no one would give a crap, lol. Is it depressing? No. Sad? Sure.

They probably have other things going on in their life. Jobs, maybe even kids.

Plus after a certain point most people get bored of anime. Some of it is good, but most of it is forgettable trash.
