I wasn't expecting Hanakaze to kill the escorted VIP.
Is she a traitor? But maybe that murder was the mission's real objective, purposefully hidden to Sawa.

OP was dope, the Kimetsu vibes don't go away

You said Kimetsu vibes, yet this is just another anime set in japan during the most famous period of its history. Guess all anime with japan vibes is a Kimetsu reference now, even though Kimetsu is from a different period or Shogunate.

I do wonder where is this going. I haven´t seen that many anime in recent years that actually end with the revenge plot on actual revenge (last one I remember was 91 days, and who knows when was that aired) but I like the setting. Also, Sawa is literally Ryougi Shiki.

if i had to guess i would say they are shingeki no kyojin fans.
Why? Today is the last chapter of the manga and they want to tear down any other anime and competition so that their series looks better in comparison

Why would Elena just kill the women at the end? If she wanted her dead, why wouldn't she just let the other guys do it, instead of trying to protect her. I could understand if the others didn't achieve that goal and she was left with no choice (whatever her motive is). But now she's just forced herself into creating trouble with Sawa. Odd.

the pacing of everything kinda bothers me tbh. immediately revealing her backstory first episode, reminding of it second episode, revealing the sisters backstory second episode, and a fight scene that was literally under 30 seconds? and the episode felt like it ended awkwardly. ended it with the other girl smirking feels more like the kind of cliff hanger youd get at a commercial break, not at the end of an episode

I agree that the pacing is all over the place. Sort of symptomatic of having a series that needs to create an emotional ground while remaining obscure to the viewer; I can forgive that though, because it has more or let set an amount of things to look forward.

Interesting aesthetics and setting, so far a by-the-numbers revenge plot with a few mysterious hooks and fine, if elusive on purpose, characterization. It can get anywhere but I want to go on. I hope it gets even better once the grounds are fully set.

The vibe is from the art direction and background music, not the setting

While revenge story isn't uncommon, i like how the anime started to answer so many questions from the episode 1 at once in one single episode. How she had her power, who made her an assassin, why the little girl tried to kill her before, the effect of the dragon vein resource, who is janome, how can changeling appear etc. One of the best part I saw in this episode is when she killed the little girl's parents and she realized that she is not better than Janome himself

I see a great episode that answered plenty questions from the first episode. The best part is when she realized that she was no better than Janome (after killing the little girl's parents)

Direction this episode was plain bad. I can't believe the director is the same man who made beautiful Mardock Scramble and K. What a shame. Art and animation also has a lot of inconsistencies. And it's only ep 2.

As for ep itself, I'd say it could be better. We didn't get anything interesting or fresh/original, but maybe plot will get better later. It's too early to judge.

Elena speaking English all of a sudden took me off guard XD

So, the power that Sawa has is actually a power only the people of her clan has.

The backstory of Asahi was so unexpected. Sawa had to kill her parents for some orders. I can't sympathize with Asahi since her parents were shit anyway. So, Sawa sees herself in Asahi and also gave her the permission to take revenge. When Asahi was going to stab Sawa in her sleep, the way she started crying at the end, I feel like she has grown attached to Sawa and wouldn't be able to kill her. It would make more sense if deep inside Asahi was actually relieved that Sawa killed her parents since incidentally she happened to save her from being raped.

Jin, Tsukishiro and Elena are kinda sus. It wouldn't be surprising if Jin turned out to be Janome himself or at least working for him.

I'm guessing as to why they killed the treasurer was cause she was the mole they mentioned in the beginning and she was working for Kuchinawa? Cause she doesn't seem to like working for the government since she kept on listing the cruelties the govt have done to the dissidents. And I'm pretty sure those people from Kuchinawa who were attacking them were actually trying to get their hands on the treasurer instead of killing her since they could get crap ton of info considering she memorizes almost every important data.

I think kuzuhara is the killer?considering we're seeing the same pattern with Sawa who's raising Asahi so that Asahi could kill her. So maybe kuzuhara raised Sawa so one day she could kill him too? idk jury's still out with this one.

Although Sawa's backstory and Asahi's backstory shouldn't be compared cause Asahi's parents legit were tryna prostitute their daughter who is a minor, they pretty much deserve to die tbh.

I wish we could see more of Sawa fighting tho cause her fighting scenes are way too short :( this episode was a bit messy and all over the place with the sudden cuts but it wasn't terrible to the point it was unwatchable lol. Looking forward for EP 3!

The pacing and story telling / order or story is all over the place, especially after that tense cliffhanger from the end of ep1. only to have to wait for it to be concluded at 70% through ep2 with a huge letdown. It's a wannabe Demon Hunter but with bad direction.

Some dialogue & scenes still make 0 sense. What's with the book boy again, and crazy scientist.
Apparently many + her Nue team wants Yuki dead, almost hint herself wants to die too.
Relation to Asahi getting more weird.
Dead monster look bit like the library one in ep1. Feels like a later binge would make sense out of these plot threads.

Damn so Yuki killed Asahi's parents eh, they weren't good people but still that's quite messed up. They were selling their daughter's body who was like 6/7 year old which is also messed up.

Welp the treasurer had to die, no way they were gonna keep a time bomb like her alive.

(English) The second episode was more explanatory and better contextualized who Sawa/Yukimura is. She is a protector of the Japanese government, who had her clan killed in the past as a child. After specializing as a fighter, she adopted Asahi, a daughter of a couple Yukimura killed. This couple had ties to Janome. Janome is responsible for using the blood of the Yukimura clan, for uses in humans, where the scientist seeks immortality in some way. It's a sadder episode than the first. Even a treasurer was killed as she knew too much confidential information. Jin, on Yoshinobu's orders, ordered his death. Betrayal is everywhere, but is revenge too? Asahi will have to position himself.

Well that was a totally pointless mission if the Treasurer was gonna die anyway. Weird relation between Sawa and Asahi as Sawa killed her parents, which they deserved seeing from the flashback how they mistreated Asahi quite badly by using her as prositute
