THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
At long last, the continuation of Season 1 of Etsushi Ogawa's new manga.

Prefer the OST of the previous season, though this is plenty fine.

We continue to where Season 1 left off with the cliffhanger: Mao vs. Shouan in the last of 3 cooking matches in the Underworld Cooking Society.

Well as usual, sabotage is the name of the game, and it's no surprise that Shan is back at it again. But the case of the enemy helping rivals to broaden the cooking mastering, it has proven time and time again so.

Ingenious for Mao to show up with Mapo Tofu, Panda style with Sichuan origins, impressive. Of course, Shouan is less impression, more on flavour with idealism, that makes it for his own dish.

A good start to the continuation.

I enjoyed this episode more than a lot of the previous season by some distance. Regardless of how this season turns out to be, I'm glad to have this show return in any form, even if the previous season was a disappointment for mostly feeling like an inferior ripoff of the original Chuuka Ichiban.

Geezus, this soft reboot still has literally no soul at all. All these excessively bright colors and odd and awkward sequences with the dialogue and events, and stiff animation, are still jarring as ever. Not like I was a fan of the OG series to begin with, but not even a genuine sense of improvement in body and spirit.

Dropping this for now, at least, unless I suddenly get the interest to review it later on this season.

So.. this time, they decided to follow the story of the original manga...(hint: the anime cover of current season) Just like the previous season, still less intensive(or rather I would say.. something is missing, I guess..) than old anime(the graphic is kinda better though..)But Im still gonna watch this anime until the end..(hope this season wont disappoint me as the previous one..)

I had a lot of fun watching this episode, though not as great as the original was, I still think they did a good job.
I only vaguely remembered Mao's panda tofu so it was fun seeing his technique again!

Glad to have this show back :D

For a modern format, I think they are doing a good job. Of course, the pace is going to be as fast as last season that fans of the original series may not like, but it does cover all major points and still deliver it for new audiences just fine.

The Panda Mapo Tofu is presented very well.

Great episode, if not the best. New OP is alright I guess, overall the 2nd season should be an 8/10 or 9/10 if it performs well again.
Sadly I remembered that Tofu scene so it will be another season of new animation but probably not actually new content :/
Trying to watch all available anime series so you won't have to anymore, the list of anime I can recommend is still in progress, tho

Sad that in this version Mei and Shirou fell asleep on their own instead of Xiang putting them to sleep using a needle, but the rest of it was pretty similiar to the old version. Gotta respect Mao for coming up with such a unique and creative dish while having a shortage of time to prepare
