Yup, there's Mao and his personality that blooms in this show. Tbh, he geninuely loves cooking and shows for it.

Intense episode level too especially with that water flooding scene. To cap it off, I think this finale did a solid job at showcasing Mao's passion of culinary arts. Definitely earned my respect.

Mao certainly went dramatically angsty for the finale in not just moving hearts through food, but through emotion as well.

Just like the season's beginning on the Shanghai, the ringleader Kaiyu abandoning Mount Liang, leaving everyone stranded and fleeing to Beijing with two Legendary Utensils.

Just when Mao thought he could catch up to Kaiyu, he missed by luck. Of course, when it comes to Beijing, anything can happen.

A decent follow-up for the 2nd Season.

@phantomfandom Was hoping they'll have enough time to cover the final volume, but that looks like it's gonna be kept only in the manga.

Love when the fire pillar die(?) smirking at the end because he knows in the last minute that he has a woman that can die for him! But I hope he survived because I never have enough husbando material!

Though I've to say that Mao food is clearly surpass him now, the twist interpretation is that not only Mao's "hero of the country" is "people", but also "and underground chefs too, they can be heroes" is a very surprisingly good point. I think this is his finest dish yet.

I can only hope for a sequel, either in movie form or TV form is OK. But I applaud the adaptation team that doesn't just chase the manga, but add more scene to make it more dramatic, including the boat chasing scene.

you’re forgetting it true if this niche anime sequel does well they can do some of kowamni branch kiwami tai chi sect division that was broken off of underground cooking society . Didn’t they said their ancestors were heroes thieves that thrives on mount liang until kaiyou poison his peer and seize power to change the society to become more cruel and wicked .

hope for white knight investor . Flame of recca was another’s niche good 90 anime’s that took a decade to get a ps3 game Finale animated ova. Inuyasha take 5-6 years get its finale and now they’re milking their children low like cloud and wind .. this season with meili poison arc and this episode really show dramatic emotion although they took out bloody from manga and original anime plus there’s no original anime for comparison so it less likely to mess up.

So happy after watched the last episode. Make me excited to see next seasons.
I hope they make it until the last.
This is my best childhood cooking anime.

Mao really proved his reasons for cooking to underground chef so expressively. How fire pillar ended with like (I never thought he have to-). Btw, what happend with Choji body after that? I can't

Happy to see everyone gather together.

There are still 2 pillars left. I guess one with tongue sense and ear sense? Let's figure it out for next time. I'm so excited to see all best cooking master start the tournament.
Overall, very good ending. Rate 8/10

applaud for those that can’t wait for finale hopeful season 3 the original 13 volumes manag of 1997 is fully translated in English now though so you can finish by reading it. The author came back two decade later write about mao dad and his first disciple dragon chef and tai chi culinary talent. I don’t know if they will do a sequel anime . Titan ongoing and soma leelike inuyasha get seque treatment consequently tears in cours or just wait longer for continuation or a reboot of a reboot. Season 2 slow down and give more room and deatAil to breathe . Comparison still not a fan over glossy animation and pg the lewd/gore factor .

I really want to see a season 3. (i wish they did a season 3 instead of season 1...lol)

Overall i liked the anime, It actually like the art style of this anime compared to 1997 version. Thought 1997 anime is still better because of more detailed story in comparison. Only other thing better about season 1 compared to 1997 version was Shao An character (they made him into a more interesting character). It's interesting to see the new story content in season 2

Anyways 1997 version + season 2 is the best way to watch

Those adults gotta be ashamed when even a 13-year old kid points out how pointless the Underworld society is. Enjoyable season just like the first one, especially now that they've adapted the parts at which the old series stopped, I can't wait for s3 to see Mao defeating the last two members of the five tigers.

Well, what can I say? It was nice to get a proper canon ending to this series in this remake, which is a complete adaptation of the Shin Chuuka Ichiban manga, unlike the original 1997 version which had a filler ending. However, I absolutely loved the original 1997 Chuuka Ichiban and it's one of my favourite anime and I was excited to see content from the manga that wasn't adapted before in this season. Gonna rewatch the original Chuuka Ichiban anime soon, and hopefully an adaptation of the Chuuka Ichiban! Kiwami manga happens sometime in the future. Shame that it's unpopular here on MAL.

That's for the next season, if there ever is one. Otherwise, read the manga :D
