Very proud of how far Mao has come. He deserves the praise for his work this episode.

On the other hand, I find the characterization of Juchi to be interesting. This episode really made his character and rivalry with Mao more realistic.

I think this is Shin best episode yet. Interestingly, Five Tigers theme is not elements, but senses. So far the fire pillar should be... (I edited out as it's still not revealed even if it's heavily hinted) and Zhu Qi is clearly "smell" and the next one can be easily guess by preview alone.

Oh! one flawed point about this adaptation, it tone down something again, this time, Zhu Qi should be take off his shirt and show his tiger tattoo on his body (along with some scars). While it doesn't impact the story, the tattoo is very very hot! (Also I demand shirtless men fanservice LOL)

Only 4 episodes left and still 3 volumes untouched, what's the deal here?

The re-match with Mao vs. the "Sky Soaring Great Sage" Five Tiger Stars Jochi and the theme of duck, what a showdown.

Jochi's usual flamboyance vs. Mao's hidden Super Chef skills, honestly this isn't even worth rating over the average Joe's tastebuds, because Mao has shown time and time again that his methods work, but then again, Jochi ain't part of the Five Tiger Stars for nothing with a permeable sense of smell (but not taste).

Jochi's characterization within the Underworld Cooking Society was rough, but it's effort that he paid dearly for losing a part of the 5 senses. Just kinda wished he lived on the good side as opposed to being bought in by the dark side, but the damage is already done.

A surprisingly good episode when episodes like these felt like 5 mins.

@phantomfandom the way I see it is most likely anime-original ending.

I see now, which is not surprise because this reboot already done a lot of "that"

But I don't think they'll go for anime-original ending, when they can do "that" and now it's possible to end just like in manga.

Zhu Qi's arc is very well done, it exceeded my expectations and i hope that moving forward, we'll get the same kind of ups and downs from the characters outside of the cooking battles. Presentation-wise, it needs improvement, but at the least, this show as a whole is a breath of fresh air from all of the isekai shows we get every season.
Also, i think it needs to be said that the love story in this arc is better than half of Kaminomi season 1, or an anime like Hataraku Maou-sama!

Uhm Jochi did you wash your shoes before dancing on the plate...thats just plain gross. I'm pretty sure imprisoning Jochi for poisoning someone would be a lot better than letting him go and getting killed by the Underworld Society.

Jochi should've went to prison for poisoning Mei-Li.
