Have you ever tried to imitate voices?
I wanted to do it at some point, maybe like back in 2018.
Know what?
I'm back at it again!
Right now I'm trying to imitate the different roles of my favorite seiyuu, Takahashi Rie.
Like, every scene where Emilia speaks, I'm trying to replicate her voice.

Easy enough, you just need to say "Subaru-kun".

I like to imitate very unpleasant people to ridicule them in public with some happy few. Of course, you need to imitate first and foremost their laughable way of expressing themselves. It is amusing to try imitating anime characters. Like Rena, ka na, ka na?

You're welcome! Haha, it will be hard to develop the same intonation I guess. I do not really know what there is in her voice, something that makes you feel at home, and that tries to console or appease you. You may want to try to imitate Mizuki Nana, that may be easier. Her voice is quite pretty (when she speaks too).

I tried to imitate Nodame's Gyabo and Mukyaaaa during the time I was still so much into it. It was mortifying, considering my normal voice is monotonous.

@Seiya If I remember you well, you used to live with cats?
Well, the username is quite unique so there's that.
I like your new picture!

Back on off-topic, to have an intimidating voice I suggest you try using your chest voice, and to make your noise rebounce on your abdomen. Try to speak while constricting your abdomen, maybe? Like when you poo. Pointing a finger to where you must constrict may help. Then you maintain this constriction, and do a T-pose. The spirit of the T-pose will impact your whole body, as it is instinctual. Then, you will adopt the most intimidating stance you have ever dreamed of. You can become the scarecrow of Hell!

Deep female voices are lovely!
I just thought, maybe the "feel at home" in her voice comes from her accent? She's from Saitama Prefecture. Kantou region. I think what you find in her voice that's appeasing or consoling may come from the intonations you've heard her voice. Therefore, I think it's because of the characters she voice, as known as typecasting (the tendancy for actors to act the same kinds of characters).
For example, she's got a role in One Room this season (therefore intimist direction), has done Hime in Kakushigoto (a calm role), has done Myu in Listeners (with energy), Megumin (my favorite role of hers, where she gets to voice the explosion spell incantations, with energy and a rapid flow; I'd say Megumin's voicing was energetic, cute, tonic?), Emilia (appeasing effectively, but also translating a purity)...
Therefore maybe what you perceived in her voice comes from gender expectations, as women may be expected to be on the receiving end, receptive, calm, appeasing? And before you suggest it's a Western reading, there's also the Yamato Nadeshiko ideal that's endemic of Japan...

The author describes Emilia's voice as a silver bell. If you wanna practice more, try reading the WN and voice act Emilia's lines. Not only will you get better at it, but you'll also enjoy a top-tier story not affected by the limitations of the visual medium. Read my profile to know more.

It's really awkward listening to a deep female voice in a recording and then a high-pitched voice if my cat does something funky. I do imitate my cat's weird meow sometimes if she's a good girl.

This kind of specific inflexion when surprised by something in the presence of someone you're close to, shows a weakness that's really a cute anecdote.

I do it all the time. I think I may have over done it though because now nobody believes that I grew up in the part of London that I did.

Perhaps I could have been a voice actor in another timeline. Perhaps one day I will be one who knows.

The earliest anime I saw him in is ashita no joe S2 from 1980 so that's at least 40 years. Man's a legend and his voice is even more legendary (and hilarious)

Not specific people's voices, but I do like to practice foreign accents every now and then. It's much more fun to swear in a Scottish accent than a Mancunian one.

Yes they are! No, this is not just the accent, but rather the intonation, and I did not get the same impression with other roles of her. For example, the seiyuu of Wakamiya Shinobu (Nakamichi Mihoko) of Chihayafuru has an interesting kansai accent, but that does not change much my perception of this character.
Lol, why do you bring gender expectations here? Not necessarily, for I am not used to hear voices satisfying to any of these criterions; I dislike however those who alter their voices to fake confidence or anything similar, not to mention vulgar people who assume that it gives them an edge to behave poorly (like girls saying "je m'... les c..."). Even Yukino does not have such a voice. What I notice in real life are simply pleasant voices, and there are not many. I was not going to mention that and trivially, gender expectations are not a thing created in the West for they exist everywhere. Indeed, Tsubasa from Symphogear is the typical example of yamato nadeshiko.

Not so sure, but the only ones I can remember of are those like Mizuki Nana whose voice I happen to like. The seiyuu of Yukino (Hayami Saori) is another example, although I had to search for her name...
