As the title goes, are there any niche or obscure anime that you'd like to recommend?

Ōban Star-Racers is one of my most favorite anime of all time, it basically has everything I love about an anime in it.. I'm just curious on some things you really enjoy that not many people are aware of. :)

edit: Somehow, I thought they were popular, but boy was I wrong by checking the user count.
The World Masterpiece Theater has for sure some of best anime for me. Anne of Green Gables is the most well known one definitely, but Tom Sawyer no Bouken and Ai no Wakakusa Monogatari are some of my other favorite stories. Moomin is related to the World Masterpiece Theater, if you know that... not that either? Maybe it was popular in Japan...

Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na: Crescent Love is a pretty obscure show. A bit cliche, but very sweet romance with conclusive ending. Hiroyuki Sawano also did the soundtracks for the show.
Here we go again...

Dunno about niche but there's this anime I used to watch when I was a kid. Idaten jump. It's a shonen with bike racing with special moves like in beyblade. It was fun.
Don't Know why it popped into my head. Story was fun I guess.

PS I totally forgot you were my friend lol.
"You are the result of 4 billion years of evolution. Act like it."
"Why don't you eat make up? Then you can be beautiful on the inside too."
"'Sick'? Call me 'twisted'. 'Sick' makes it sound like there's a cure."
"What's messed up isn't my thinking, what's messed up is this god damn world."
"The world isn't perfect, but its out there doing the best it can for us. That's what makes it so damn beautiful."

this one. I don't think it's THAT obscure, only by nowadays standards. but it's the closest anime has ever come to what I want from it. the execution isn't super good but it's perfectly enjoyable.

this wasn't bad either, if you like tokusatsu.

The Case of Hana and Alice is a movie I discovered relatively recently and it's got one of the most memorable visual styles I've seen in ages. If you've ever seen Hyouka, the story's a little bit like that but with much more 'human' characters rather than the tropey anime ones from that show.

The steamiest scene is actually in the second season - Diabolik Lovers More,Blood

If that doesn't do anything to you - better skip this one, you won't like it.

sorry, but.... I love vampires so much, I'm so biased with vampires. I'm probably gonna enjoy it somehow. This anime, Karin, about a vampire girl who is basically a polar opposite from other vampires (including her family), is really what woke me to loving vampires. It's slightly ecchi, and I was watching this anime at an age I shouldn't have been... (I was a toddler; I was watching this as it aired in 2005-2006 with my older sister who would download it from IRC). I don't remember much about the anime, but I do remember there being some intense moments from the family in the manga.

Yup, Karin was a good one, I wanted to mention that one.

The last three Lupin III movies are criminally underwatched:

Fujiko Mine to Uso - little more than 1000 members

Chikemuri no Ishikawa Goemon - about 7000

Jigen Daisuke no Bohyou - about 7000

A.I.C.O.:Incarnation and B:The Beginning. Quite niche when compared to the... popular titles such as Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Reality check: listing old series which were created before the majority of the website userbase was born, is not exactly the definition of "niche" listing.

+1 Oniisama e (23k users) -- The drama: once started it was impossible to stop watching.
+1 Sora no Manimani (36k users) -- Underappreciated hidden gem of a rom-com with the bonus of being able to learn a bit of astronomy while watching it.

In no particular order:

Kazemakase Tsukikage Ran (12k users) -- Essentially a female Kenshin Himura-type character wandering between towns helping people.

Seikai no Senki (26k users) -- A space romance with battles as a bonus; lots of comfy dialog (when a couple is perfectly matched it shows).

Maria-sama ga Miteru (49k users) -- For one of the pillars of shoujo-ai to have such few views while trainwrecks like Citrus get over 260k is rather frustrating. Admittedly it's not an easy show to get into: the first episode has some clumsy flashbacks and there is some terminology to absorb (like the titles of the student council officers and their soeurs (sisters)). Once past that though I can't put it better than one reviewer did:
"Poor quiet anime with fabulous, fabulous storytelling and characterization. They get no love, and this is apparent for Maria-sama ga Miteru.

It tells the story of girls in a Catholic school. That's all. It's them, their lives, and yet it sucks you in like nothing else could, wraps you up in their stories and makes you itching to learn about them more." -- iamjoe
I'll add that what makes this show even more niche is that it's the only one* I've found that shows Class-S relationships between girls ("platonic relationships based on strong emotional bonds and very close friendship, rather than sex or sexual attraction"). It's almost not shoujo-ai so it gets the shoujo-ai and a shoujo tag :) (even though hetero relationships are very rarely shown). There are a couple of lesbian characters but by far they are the exception rather than the norm).
*a couple of yuri-baiting shows aside

About those names: I ended up modifying a chart I found that helps.

Gokujou Seitokai (16k users) -- All-girl school zany humor comedy with a heart-warming conclusion. Worth watching just for Pucchan the talking puppet alone.

Kaze to Ki no Uta Sanctus: Sei Naru Kana (10k users) -- A period piece (1880's, France) BL drama. You don't have to be into BL to watch this: for example, this is the only BL I've watched (and I believe the only BL in my anime list) and I scored it an 8 (even if a few scenes made me cringe a bit).

Otogizoushi (14k users) -- Very nice Production IG product reminiscent of Seirei no Moribito character design and atmosphere (not as good, of course). Has the novelty of being split into two parts with the 1st set in Heian Japan and the 2nd in modern Tokyo -- with the same character designs (reincarnated if you will).

Shin Chou Kyou Ryo: Condor Hero (7k users) -- An anime adaptation of the Condor Hero wuxia (historical Chinese martial arts' heroes drama). A bit campy but a decent watch.

Devilman Lady (16k users) -- I see a lot of mention of Devilman Crybaby but this hearkens back to the original Deveilman shows except with a female lead. I haven't seen any of the Devilman shows aside from Devilman Lady :)

Uta-Kata (21k users) -- Gonna mention this one because I feel it's under-watched (and under-rated). Moe alert: condition Red!

Hamelin no violin hiki(1328viewers)- had an unfortunate prodution but plenty to take away from it

Skullman(6820viewers)- definitely underrated, id never watched any of the cyborg 008 series before this but there was so much subtle information was given that made the story and world building fascinating imo also that cover art is awesome

Mahou no stage fancy lala(2897viewers)- i have no idea why this series has so little watches,a great series that was quite touching

Junk head(93viewers)- might awell be one of the first 100 to watch right, actaully not too bad though
