| I've read .hack//AI Buster, so I'm pretty sure it was the Crimson Knight at the end. I'm fascinated by this first episode. I have a feeling I'll be watching all of this series. |

| Well the introduction song music and the anime music reminded me of Tsubasa Chronicle music. It had me confused at the start, didn't know the story line at all or what was happening. But I did guess they were in a game since they were talking about "log out" and "playing the game" and "access". Kinda got the drift of it after the end of the episode. YES, I"VE NEVER READ THE MANGA OR PLAYED THE GAME BEFORE. I just found out now after reading wiki kay. :( |

| I found the first episode interesting enough. It was kind of all over the place, but I thought it was paced nicely. Never really felt bored or anything watching this episode. |

| When I heard that opening, I thought, "Holy crap I watched this before a long time ago!" Then when I saw the characters, especially the cat!! (HOW COULD I FORGET THAT CAT??) Then when the ending started, I KNEW HOW THE ANIMATION WAS. Even the song is so memorable!! What the! I probably watched this back when I was in elementary! I can't believe I remember the music. Well, it IS really good. I never knew I watched this anime before, but wow... this pulled out some REALLY old memories that I totally did not remember. o_o Main character is hella weird. But I think I understand a bit near the end. I love when he (she?) turns all badass and is like, "Do whatever you want." <3 |
| Giving this a 2nd chance, I dropped this at episode 5 years ago. I think I might like it this time around... depends if I can tolerate the main character he's already pissing me off. |

| I remember seeing bits and pieces of this on Cartoon Network and the only thing I can recall is that this MC has some screws loose. The art is reminiscent of Serial Experiments Lain and I'm loving Kajiura Yuki's ost. This start is a bit stale yet the mystery has intrigued me enough to want to see where this goes. |

It's not a great game but interesting enough for me to keep playing. The gameplay was too boring, so I quit halfway through the second game. Re-watched the first episode again and I still enjoyed it as much. That music makes it so hypnotic. |

Decided to jump into the anime after playing a decent amount of the first game, .hack Infection. Normally wouldn't be in love with this anime or the game, but after watching Log Horizon and everyone mentioning how this predates both Horizon and Sao, i decided it was only proper to go to the original trapped in a game world story. After watching a dozen episodes, this is very weird and not traditionally strong, but it has a unique vibe and gravitas to the show/games that many others can't pull off. For something seemingly bland and at times boring, there has to be some strong redeeming element to build up to, and i believe it has that potential. |

Was familiar with the name the past decade + since the games launched via Ps2, but otherwise didn't know how to get into it/if it was worthwhile. This first season goes really well in conjunction with the ps2 games, starting with .hack infection . There is an element of mystery and unknown things slowly unfolding that make it interesting. Also has a charm and uniqueness to it. Honestly the show (and the games to some extent) can be freaky as hell at times. Sure somethings may seem slow, potentially boring, repetitive, inexplicable, but if one can build tolerance for the quirks and "downsides", it can be a potentially worthwhile experience. Really wise to play the games (simple with Pcsx2 emulator and even a garbage computer) for the full experience though. |

| I'm watching this again after I saw some of it way back on Adult Swim. I don't think I ever saw this episode in full. Tsukasa is much more annoying than I remember. I thought the beetle was an interesting motif. Also, I'm very intrigued by the story, and I think this episode did a good job of that. |
| Very intriguing start. Like the somber tone, but it's also somewhat chill. Of course I have tons of questions, so I'm gonna continue and hope that the next couple of episodes will quench my thirst. |

It's a mere prologue to the first cycle of a saga : you'll get just enough to get the personal story (Tsukasa "intrigue", Key of the Twilight mystery). But the larger intrigue wil neither be resolved nor fully explained at the last episode. |
| I'm rewatching this after 12 years. I started to play .hack//G.U. Last Recode recently so it motivated me to come back here. I loved this anime back then and I wanted to cosplay Tsukasa. I didn't remember he wasn't very nice in the beggining hahaha Well, I never finished the series so this is finally the time. |

| Unbelievably boring start, why people in all seriousness saying that it's best MMO-themed anime and everything in SAO is just a copypasta? MC is autist, art style is kinda pale, music is irrelevant. This anime is outdated and reminds second-tier anime from 90s. I bet it won't be any better. |
