Welcome to MAL's Annual Halloween Haunt!  characters belong to Boku no Hero Academia Story Stumbling forward on the dimly lit street, you try to find your way to the haunted house that you've heard so many rumours about on the MAL forums. The rumours have been so terrifying, that the horrors described are inconceivable to you. Before you get the chance to mull over the validity of these rumours and question the wiseness of your decision to confirm them, a mansion rises out of the fog. You can feel an overwhelming malicious presence that inextricably looms over the mansion, and yet it draws you in without explanation. You suddenly find yourself in front of the door to the mansion. Only this door stands between you and the denizens who reside within. ♪♪ ☩ Enter ☩ ...if you dare. How to Play 1. Enter the Mansion You must first join the MALoween Mansion club (linked above) to play. 2. Solve Puzzles/Complete Missions The 2019 Mansion has the possibility to collect 20 pieces of unique (not bonus) candy. 15 of these are from mansion (moderator) residents, each with their own main room (aka club thread) and own unique challenge. If you do their bidding satisfactorily, you will receive one piece of their favourite candy. 🍭 However, rooms will appear and disappear from the club without warning. All resident rooms will be open for a minimum of 48 hours, so be sure to take a look around the mansion at least once a day. 3. Collect Bonus Candy For our challenge-seeking daredevils, it doesn't end there. Some resident rooms and the cursed playground will contain bonus candy, giving users a chance to compete for bonus candy to add to their stash. These bonus candy pieces cannot be used as main candy. We suggest you relax in one of our discussion rooms and check the club forum regularly if you'd like more candy. Escape Mission (Easy Mode) You must collect at least 9 unique candy pieces (not bonus candy) to safely escape the mansion with your candy stash. Candy Hoarder (Hard Mode) Compete with your fellow Mansion dwellers to collect the most candy. Main room candy will have more weight than bonus candy. At the end of the event, we'll list everyone who escaped the Mansion—and those still trapped inside! Mansion Closes in... On Nov 1st, at the stroke of midnight (PST), the Mansion will return to its hiding place for another year... You have this long to escape! We were super excited to see so many returning faces and also brand new challengers in the mix~ Not as successful participant-wise as 2017, but I think we all had a good run of it anyway. Please don't forget to thank our event staff! MALoween would not run or function without Snowical, so be sure to give him lots of cookies. A big thanks to all of 2019's hosts who took the time to create and run their own rooms: Ardanaz, Chaste, Denji, firefractal, Gilrin, Jicetus, Naruleach, Shymander, Skittles, Sun, Tensho, and tingy. Its their creativity and effort that keeps the rooms fresh each year. Last but not least, leave a msg for our neighbourhood Pancake Ghost; you should see her again at Easter. Candy counts are given as (resident ☩ bonus) and a final total. Remember that resident (main room) candy was worth more than bonus.
