THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Well since we are getting these as episodes and not the movie, I figured it was appropriate to start the discussion of episode 2. Does anyone know how many episodes the first movie is being broken into?

This is the big turning point in terms of story. Lot's of plots and schemes are brewing and so far I.G has not had any misstep. I have full confidence they will handle the massive tale that is about to unfold.

I really hope this has a similar episode count as the OVA. Any less than 100 would probably not do the story justice.

Mod edit: Changed the format for the header.

I've read that each of the films will be divided into 4 episodes. So after this one, we're half way through the first film

When Rubinsky appeared talking with the Terran bishop, I was afraid they had neutered the character. I was pleased to see in the next scene, that he remains the formidable schemer and power player of the books and the original OVA.

Another very interesting episode with lots of exposition. And wow, although we are merely at the crossroad, the plot is already so damn good. Honestly can't wait for more.

So far I'm really enjoying this, as the plot continues to move on. This episode (or part of the movie) is focused more on the empire.

We get to see what occurs in the empire with the aristocrats and Reinhard announced as the next emperor, and we are teased to see what schemes Reinhard has in hand for Yang and the gang at Iserlohn fortress

I wish Rubinsky had that Justice League Lex Luthor feeling to him like he did in the OVA series, instead of him actually being a middle-aged man - does anyone else feel that way as well? Although, he is the same kind of scheming, dodgy character he was in the OVA, which is good.

Image how good season 4-7 would be in terms of the quality of the story as it progresses to what the high point of the OVA was + amazing CG and good art/animation quality (if it's 12 episodes a season and they continue to make the show without any hitches in the quality and production.)

Kinda disappointed they didn't introduce the Terran Bishop Palpatine-style lol At least Rubinsky is still the great mastermind he is in the original. Nice to see Annerose being free again after Kaiser's death. The nobility now is about to go nuts that Erwin took the throne while also having the support of both Reinhard and Lichtenlade. The Empire is pretty unstable right now. Also, I didn't remember Muckenburger appearing much last season. I would say I prefer his retirement scene in the original where he just responded to Reinhard's salute the same way without saying anything instead.

I guess it has to do with the old art being more expressive when it mattered. That's my main gripe with this remake. The art lacks expression and it's not distinctive enough. Other than that, I think the movie is handling the storyline way better than the first season and am really glad about this.

That was the end of volume 1 of the novel. A bit of the last chapter was animated in previous episode. Here we got the remaining stuff - not even a full chapter. Afaik the plan Reinhard hinted at while talking with Kircheis also wasn't revealed yet in the novel. (Switched to some other scene where here we didn't hear him finish talking as well.)

The death of the Kaiser and the coronation of his grandson ... + the stuff with all the nobles. I think that wasn't that detailed in the novel and here they showed a bit more. (The other part where they showed more that I remember was in the series when Schönkopf got introduced.)

I have to remind: The novel is pretty short. Don't know about novels and light novels. Afaik the LN I heard of are usually onle 200-300 pages. This is considered a "normal" (not light, no pictures) novel and a bit less than 300 pages - a chapter here is only about 20-30 pages. Not too detailed.

Im amazed this is soo popular (well at least I guess the novels are/were popular otherwise that did not get a huge OVA back then) - OVA also had original stuff and I like how they are pretty close to the novels (at least until now) but showing a bit more detail every now and then.

To think I've hit the timeline in which my beloved LoGH gets such a nice remake.
I see that they are starting to indroduce a kind loop of character moments that the OVA had and the worldbuilding is shaping up nicely, giving a nice amount of space for the viewer to embrace the plot and necessary information.

I really hope they will adapt all the novels. As huge part of the budget probably went for the general planning and pipelining 3D, it might possible. Please.

The first release of an anime is the most important one, as long as the majority of it was released that way. Seiran is being released as movies in theaters in Japan, but only Crunchyroll is releasing the movies as individual episodes. CR did the same thing with Digimon tri movies, and they have been kept as movies instead of individual episodes as well :)

Finally Annerose is free. Glad she can be happy now.

I loved how they gave a little screen time to the two daughters who were in line to be empress in this episode. In the original OVA, they only flashed the girls' pictures on the screen for a split second and that's all we ever saw of them (but now that I think about it, I think one of the daughters got a tiny bit of screen time in one of the Gaiden episodes?).

Another great episode! Glad to have some focus on the Galactic Empire this time since the first season seemed to be far more focused on the Free Planets Alliance.

After some research and discussion, we've concluded that indeed the films are just "event screenings" of 4 episodes each. The movies are now changed to having 4 episodes :)

it happens all the time in history, the catch here and in all those historical examples is that someone like the prime minister is ruling as regent until the kid comes of age
"I like young-girl sexual creations, Lolicon is just one hobby of my many hobbies," he says.
I ask what his wife, standing nearby, thinks of his "hobby".
"She probably thinks no problem," he replies. "Because she loves young boys sexually interacting with each other."

They let a kid become the new emperor! But now Reinhard has to deal with power-hungry nobles trying to provoke a civil war and Yang in the other side!
All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

Seemed like a set up episode. No problems with that. I'm really excited to see what is about to happen. Feels like the plot is brewing and its going to explode here soon

Reinhard has finally gotten his sister back. However, his ambition to become Emperor continues.

That’s a really young emperor haha

They wasted their time attempting to marry off their sons to the former emperor's daughter; no wonder they were all so frustrated.

Yang and Julian are wholesome
