I like the anime themselves, all are my favourites, but I admit, that's thanks to their amazing soundtracks too, since OST is the most important for me in anime. |

Koi Kaze (The only anime for which I've actually gone to procure the OST on CD) (The OSTs of the above two are a not at all insignificant part of why they're my top favorite anime in the first place) 3. Shiki Honorable mentions: Legend of the Galactic Heroes (love classical instrumental music) and Spirited Away. There are others, obviously, where the OPs, EDs, or even 3-6 individual songs on the OST are right up there and can hold their own with the above listed, but for the ones I chose, I basically love every single piece of the track and they fuse with and define the atmosphere of the show so much they're inseparable from it. |

A lot of people here just listed their favorites :/, anyways my top 3 with great examples would be: 1. Cowboy Bebop: Very varied and distinctive, instrumentally or tonally. Some of them are very easy to associate with precise scenes giving it more "listening" power ?? and the jazzy vibes just make the OST great. Rush, Rain, Space Lion and lots more. 2. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Basically dopamine inserted inside my ears, I just want to stand up and start dancing while Simon and the crew say some ridiculous speech or some random epic mecha fight. Libera Me From Hell, Nikopol, Sorairo days and lots more. 3. Eureka 7: Wouldn't know how to describe it exactly, some music makes you go full speed like a big ass plane and some others instantly make you feel melancholy. Not to generalize but those are the main types I've kept fresh inside my brain, both types pretty epic. Eureka, Storywriter, Nirvash TypeZERO and lots more. Honorable mentions would be: Made in Abyss: Sometimes the music barges in and you instantly feel the shivers. Fullmetal Alchemist Bortherhood: That violin is sexy as hell and the orchestra that comes with it too. smaller honorable mentions: Code Geass, Devilman Crybaby, Haikyu!!, Neon Genesis Evangelion. All the movies Joe Hisaishi worked in have insane OST, but those are movies so I don't count it in my top3. |
