Sailor Moon!!!!

We had a VHS with two of the DiC dubbed episodes, so I would play that on repeat for a while when I was younger... it's pretty much a nostalgic favorite of mine. Too bad we don't have it anymore...
Though I ended up enjoying the manga even more once I got to read it a few years ago.

Mine was Sailor Moon too when I was like 5 :P My family's Cantonese so I watched it in Cantonese dub haha and I used to collect Sailor Moon stickers as well

Pokemon or Yu-gi-oh as a kid. Though, the first anime I made an effort to sit through and watch episodically was probably Highschool DxD. Anime tiddies.

IIRC, Naruto was the first one I saw back when I was a kid. Not having learnt English too properly back then, I had no interest in anime so I didn't watch a single full episode of it. I do remember Inuyasha wayyyyy back, but like I said, I had no interest in anime at that time.

I do remember Pokemon and had no idea that it was anime, I only heard that it was when I was watching at the season where Dawn came. (kinda forgot >.<)

Blend S started the spark and from there, I was constantly watching one show after the other.

God, a lot has changed ever since.

It was probably Heidi or Nils Holgersson. I am pretty certain Tap Tao, Sindbad and Alice in Wonderland came a bit later and Sailor Moon came a LOT later.

Yugi-oh! Duel Monsters and the first generation of Pokèmon since they were aired at the local television when I was a young kid. I remembered Zenki, Beyblayed, Yu Yu Hakusho (Ghost Fighter), Flame of Recca, Astro Boy, Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon, Slam Dunk, and Mirmo de Pon as well.

Dragon Ball Z - it was the only anime show on at the time that I remember, and that was only on Sky TV on Nickelodeon/Cartoon Network, you couldn't get it on the normal terrestrial channels back in the early 90's.

I remember enjoying it as a kid, hence that's why I went on to watch more anime shows (Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh) when I got older and as they became more commonplace on network tv (Sky in the UK).

I recently watched Dragon Ball Z Super, the Universe Battles. Man are they over-hyped and drawn out. Each battle took at least a few episodes so you had to watch it over a few weeks & each week you lost interest or forgotten what had already happened. Disappointing imo.

The first anime I watched would've been one of the ones shown on Cartoon Network. Likely Pokemon or Dragon Ball Z.

I also remember watching 'Go! Go! Itsutsugo Land' (known as 'Let's Go Quintuplets!' where I lived), Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, Digimon Adventure and Hamtaro as a very young child.

Probably transformers, I was really into them as a kid.
To go with the flow of the forum, the first anime I "deliberately" watched was asu no yoichi. Deliberately in quotations because it came up on YouTube's autoplay and I decided to check it out, somehow 3 years later I'm writing on an anime msgboard :)

Watched a few episodes of various anime on TV when I was a kid but I can't really remember them

The oldest I remember is Bleach, I watched on TV the two first arcs when I was like 8

And so I decided, a few years later when I was 16, to watch and finish Bleach

A friend of mine still has a huge collection of VHS and we have been hanging out watching stuff for many years so I probably watched a number of them back then. I may have watched Akira before them but im not sure.

Poor memory :D

I remember when I was young, one day I was bored and tuned into Disney XD and found that Pokemon was on, so I decided to watch it. It was SO boring, but probably because I didn’t understand what was going on. I also knew a lot about Dragon Ball Z when I was younger, I played some DBZ games, but I never watched it.

But if you mean the first anime that I watched start to finish, that was Sword Art Online in April this year

Naruto is the one I remember starting off with. But as a kid I watched Yu-gi-oh a lot. I still haven't finished all of Naruto yet, but it has its moments for sure. Yu-gi-oh I never really sat down and watched episode by episode, just whatever episode was on T.V

First anime I saw was Panda no Daibouken, had it on VHS dubbed in Icelandic and I have no idea how old I was when I actually saw it for the first time, owned it since the time I have been able to remember things and I assume my parents sat me down to watch it a few times even before that. Didn't actually discover it was anime until I was an adult.

The next anime I saw I'm uncertain of, not sure if it was Pokémon or Crayon Shin-chan but I'm leaning towards it probably having been Crayon Shin-chan. But again this aired dubbed in Icelandic and I had no idea it was anime or even that it was Japanese.

The first anime I actually saw in Japanese with English subtitles was Azumanga Daioh, not a bad start considering it's the best anime that has been made so far and I've seen it about 15 times since, and read the manga twice.

I watched a lot as a kid without even knowing it was anime. Not sure about the order but Hamtaro, Cinderella (the anime), Legend of Zorro (or something like that), Ninja Hattori, Pikachu, etc. . .

That aside, the first anime I watched, knowing it was an anime, was Kuroshitsuji. Terrible decision, I know, but I loved the manga and was disappointed by the show. It nearly made me give up on anime and read only manga for a year or so till I picked up other, much better shows.

My first one (that I KNEW it was anime) was Naruto, I watched it with my uncle when I was like 6-7 years old and he was reading the subtitles for me until I got used to them. It felt sad and nostalgic seeing the series end after all this time. :c

I knew this thing was distinct from cartoons and cartoonish anime back then even as an 7 year old. So much violence and awesomeness! Watched few episodes that were availble and much later as an adult the whole 51 episodes

That's far back in time, so I can't say for sure but i would say Attack No.1. Just thought of it as an normal cartoon. As bad as it is, it still is something special for me.

I am rewatching it in Japanese and it is much better this way. Grunts, shouts and suffering sound more believable and traumatic too. Afterwards I'll compare it with the dub to see if they edited things
