the animation quality is surprisingly good for an isekai, though the world itself seems kinda bland. My main problem is that they hardly introduced the main story yet, theres no conflict just a lot of background info. It made it super boring to watch all the way through. Well, now that the useless exposition dumps are over, maybe the second episode will introduce something actually interesting.

If I recommend this to anyone, I'll be sure to tell them to skip this episode.

my problem is the same as almost every isekai. why is it necessary for him to come from another world? does it add anything to the plot that you couldnt tell otherwise?

Yes.

1. Scientific knowledge (which the anime did demonstrate if you paid attention).
2. Japanese Written Language (anime didn't show it, but he uses Kanji to more efficiently use inscription magic).

It was okay, I guess. Synopsis made it clear that the main character is going to be OP, but was it really needed to make him the usual idiot MC?

It's not like the first episode was totally awful or something, but it'll probably end up as another so-so Isekai. Nothing special. However, I'm curious about the guy with the long white hair; I'm guessing he'll be one of the antagonists (or THE antagonist?). If so, I hope he's not another generic bad guy.

I usually try to stay as far away from isekai anime as possible, not really sure what made me even watch this one.

I mean it wasn't bad, there just wasn't anything interesting about it either. Will give the next episode or two a try, but if it stays as boring I'll probably drop it before I crack my jaw yawning.

5/10 for the episode

Well yet again a isekai with a op af MC, nothing new here.

But why he is living in the mansion of KonoSoba party??
This is some kind of prequel that I didn't know about [sarcasm off]?

It actually was pretty okay. A bit surprised about the high score though. (Would have expecte something more between 7.0 and 7.5 instead higher than 7.5. Then again a lot of worse anime even have better scores. :D)

Not going to watch it though. I'm not that much into the mood for generic stuff which doesn't stand out in at least one point.

Basically nothing special in every area and the studio usually is known for only "okay-ish" stuff.

Showing his childhood after reborn - does not happen that often. Last time I remember it in a fantasy setting ... I think it was in Knights and Magic (which was a better anime). Showing the scenes before his death remindes me of the Slime anime.

The comedy is okay only. (Nothing top level like KonoSuba.) The setting seems your usual stuff + the plot (going to academy, getting to know some girls). Not really that intersting. Still watchable if in the mood for it. (I'm not this season.)

Only think a bit annoying is that they did not use anything from his prevous life. (Could have worked without Isekai.) Or does knowiing school chemistry from earth help him with the spells? (Other than that he seemed your usual office worker. Not a programmer or something intelligend like with other Isekai that use that as base for super powers in the fantasy world later.)

this is a japanese cartoon. Have you ever seen an isekai where the MC has an european name regardless of the environment? About throwing random shit maybe you are right but it does not even come close to how much random shit is thrown in NGE and some actually enjoy that garbage. Or in Fate/Stay knight . My point is yes the fact he references Merlin may be a bit out of place but it does not ruin the fun, at least not for me. Also as a side note, aren't you tired that almost any magic anime out there has to have the MC the reincarnation of Abe no Seimei? I mean there is only so much one can reuse an idea before it gets boring.

i kinda liked it until the bandits part(tho liked when the mc said so cliche) , it is extremely generic so far. Hope it won't turn be some shitty romance/ecchi/harem anime. I can't stand them, i barely accept the man service.

Guilty pleasures my ass guys. Its funny, its colorful, but since its other world I am gonna hate it cause damn thats been done before. You guys should stop breathing and eating cause that old shtick has been happening for millions of years.

I'm already attached to this show, and am looking forward to how it plays out. Admittedly, it could be to soon to tell. If it turns into some weak school comedy, it will probably just end up being an okay show, but I am predicting a little greatness coming our way. Here is to hoping.

But do they need this? make him come from another world just to justify him being OP? cant they just make a character that needs to work for it?

I return that question: Do we really need yet another MC who has to "work for it" like every single shounen MC ever?

I can't speak for others, but one of the reasons I got to like OP MCs was because I got tired of all the shows that couldn't help but have "underdog" protagonists with perfectly scaling antagonists who are always "just the right amount stronger" than the MC, so that the MC could beat them after the next training arc, but it always felt like it cheapened the accomplishments of such MCs because it always becomes worthless the moment the next antagonist gets introduced and it starts all over again...

When I see an OP MC, I know from the get-go that at least that sort of thing won't be issue for that series.

now name an isekai where the tension has meaning and is integrated organic and nothing forced in the narrative.
there are thousands of animes that not depend tension and that does not make them bad, what makes them awful is the bad writing.

People are more angry about the simple fact of being isekai than content itself, which is not the big deal, it's just typical, but it's a typical thing of older shows, remember the beginning of dragon ball? Practically the premise is the same as that of an orphan boy who was raised by a very strong old man specialized in something that made our protagonist very good in that matter, until Goku was shown as someone very strong at the beginning being able to lift a car, fight with dinosaurs and resisted the bullets of a machine gun the only difference is that nobody complained at that time.

Even the lack of common sense was also something typical of goku since he was isolated from everyone he did not even know was a woman lol

What @Grey-Zone told you are the reasons why he becomes much more OP than what he'd be if it wasn't an isekai. And what if it wasn't needed anyway? The author might had just wanted to write an Isekai so he did it.
And I don't know about you but I'm tired of shonen where they work hard but just win because of random power ups thanks to the friendship.

Feel like this is getting a bit too much hate? Yes, story wise it looks like a pretty generic Isekai, with no crazy gimic twist. But as a light hearted, relaxed show to watch it could do a pretty decent job. The action scenes were insanely well animated too, especially for an isekai.

In another world with a smartphone relied on it's phone gimic, and had infinitely worse animation, while this one seems to be character driven, and aside from our..uneducated MC, the rest of the characters were likable, so it makes sense that characters we meet later on should be as well

Also nice to remember that atleast this MC trained, probably hard, every day of his life for these 15 years, learning nothing but magic, combat, enchanting, etc, so at least he did work for his strength rather than god being like lol okay you're op now. We may have finally broken the curse of the blue hair brought to us by other females such as rem and ichigo. Blue hair girl main waifu for once!?

Cringe one brainless power fantasy to the next.

I barely even want to touch on the reincarnation crap since if you started the episode 30 seconds in, for all intents and purposes, it doesn't exist except to be random bizarre nonsense. "I remember my previous life, but buying things? What's buying?" Which is then made even worse that it used that as its specific example because he then just does it and goes "Oh, okay. That was easy." What the hell was the point? If you wanted to make a joke out of something like money confusion, just steal some gags about British currency. This is more like trying to check off boxes for cliches as quickly as possible, whether or not anything makes any sense. And speaking of which, it's not like light novel fantasy protagonists were ever underpowered. Lina Inverse's signature move was destroying the countryside. But at some point, the writing just collectively stopped being coy about it, and now every protagonist has to not only be a god, but has to display it decisively as the very first goddamned thing they do. This one is especially bad since they make a whole damn little ceremony out of it for no purpose except to demonstrate his godliness. If this kid was MacGyvering his way into super spells using basic knowledge of physics from the other time, then at least you'd be using all the pieces of your asinine setup together into one package, but no. He's just a god whose big character flaw is not realizing how much of a god he is. I would ask where it all went wrong, but I think we all know that the answer is Sword Art Online.

I suppose it's slightly more palatable than Shield Hero or Goblin Slayer or others in that vein because it's considerably more light hearted, and by that, I mean reaction faces and screaming . Not that it doesn't threaten rape upon a female character, mind you. Of course it does that. Two of them pop up at the very end for that very purpose, and of course, with the traditional light novel adaptation blithe lack of self-awareness, proceeds to objectify and ogle the girls that the protagonist just saved from objectification and ogling. This being a step up from the previous two to three minutes of everyone standing around, complaining about how much it sucks to be king, own a mansion, or have an army of maids waiting on you hand and foot.

Been a pretty long time since I read the manga for this but man, this felt ridiculously fast pace.

Well anyways, magic school plus isekai. Not sure how many people will take that, isekai already is already looked down on and being pretty generic, this show, can probably seen as a turn off for many.

As for me, enjoyed it a bit more than I expected, the visuals and interactions were a lot more quirky than I remember reading. Made it a lot more fun.

To be another Isekai is not so bad, but I felt that the pace was fast, the development of Shin was short, but it was given to understand that the boy has a capacity to learn differently from other children.
It made me laugh a lot at certain times, I see that it will get me several laughs during the season.
Shin was only raised in the magical arts and sword and combat arts, but he doesn't know how to socialize or the value of money, you know, common knowledge that the rest of the mortals we rule to live.
I would love to know how it is possible that Merlin and Melinda divorced, Melinda was very beautiful when she was young, what would that old man have done to get a divorce?
I loved the reaction of Shin when he finds out that all his acquaintances were important people, especially the man who considered his uncle is a King.
The first day of Shin in the capital, I felt it accelerated so the cliche event that would start this adventure would happen, but even so who does not enjoy as Shin puts in his place the idiots who harass the girls in distress, also happens the classic moment when Shin falls in love with the girl he rescued, in this case the girl with blue hair and excellent and well-cultivated body, in addition to a good pair of breasts, I hope that Shin does well with the girl, I hate anime Isekai with MC who are not interested in girls.

I'm not going to complain, because for me some anime Isekai are a guilty pleasure and I think this will be that guilty pleasure of this season, it also has details that are passable: the MC is not dense. there is no Harem tag, knowing that the OP showed us several girls, but also made it clear that something will happen between Shin and the girl with blue hair (I already read the manga, but I do not want to ruin anyone the fun and write the name of the girl ).
The animation is quite pleasing to the eye, small details that are not relevant to mention, with the design of characters I had no problems. The soundtrack was little, but nice, the Opening seemed strange to me, it's not bad but I felt it came out for an idol anime or something like that.
Anyway, I think I'll give this anime a try just because I want to see if Shin manages to stay with the blue haired girl. (Lease the spoiler, I know what happened, I just want to see it animated)

Well that was fast paced but in a good way though. Everything happened so fast, he lived, then died, got reborn, grew up, became a genius and saved girls, what a life he's had so far. It's a full novel on his part.

I wonder if the other worlds these characters get reborn in are so weak, since they always become overpowered? Anyhow I enjoyed it and it is better than the stuff I'm watching right now.

Didn't need the focus on the bewbies when one of the girls was introduced at the end, gross.

Still fun anime, Shin easily makes this worth watching because of how powerful he is, but also because it seems he's at times really naive.

The other people that carried discussions this episode were hilarious.
