This is not to say that a women (or a man) cannot have a fetish for the idea of being raped, but there is an indescribably massive difference between a rape fantasy and actually being raped. A woman with a rape fetish does not want to be raped. She wants to pretend to be raped, in a safe and controlled situation she has already given full consent to take part in. I dated a woman who confessed that she had a rape fetish about a year back (I never indulged in her in that, because that is not my thing, at all), so I'm speaking from a position of some knowledge here. |

| The fetishization of rape isn't anything new and I'd say it's fairly widespread but you can't mistake that with enjoying actual rape. Abstract fetishization and reality are two very different things. That's why people can enjoy rape fantasies and get turned it by it but still be horrified of it irl. It's also how people can fap to lolis but not be attracted to children irl. Fetishization is always reductive and just emphasizes the aspects of something that are attractive, while downplaying or straight up eliminating all the others. In rape fantasies for example, the psychological aspect of domination/submission/humiliation most likely overshadows the aspect of physical pain, discomfort, disgustingness and trauma that accompany it in real life.
