| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Ah interesting to see more of Jeanne's past even if it was just a glance. The OP song sounded nice and I'm actually impressed by how well A-1 animated it. Astolfo is so adorable lol. I love her energetic personality in this. Mordred is pretty intimidating as I had expected. No surprise there and she demonstrates some of her abilities. We got some other new characters introduced with the Red and Black Factions making their movements. Assassin of Red looks badass. |

| As expected, the animation seems to have dipped in quality, at least when it comes to farther angles. Also, so much naked Jannu. The OP animation really doesn't fit with the song, especially in pure energy. |

| And thus this episode introduces one of the most cancerous and shitty characters of this work. Its kind of hilarious that that can refer to more than one character at once too. Complete with obligatory fanservice. I know one of them is a comic relief but holy fuck does that intent fall flat on it's face. Buckle in - the train ride off a cliff has started. At least we are still in the part with good joan of arc moments and MOEdred being MOEdred, not to mention albeit brief appearance of second best elf waifu in nasuverse, so oh well, there's still something good right now. I already felt the OP song was weird and out of place when it played last episode(it felt more like ED song) and the visuals certainly do not help sell it. It should have been the ED song at worst and scrapped and remade at best, considering how disjointed the instruments sound. Its sad because the OP visuals are actually quite dank in comparison to the drab music(if I ignore my absolute anger at MC-kun in the op) - it woul dhave worked way better with Garnidelia doing the OP tbh. Animation also took a significant hit in quality, albeit the MOEdred fight actually bumped up choreography to a bit above average so that's nice in spite of lower budget. Fights are Apo's(only) strength so I hope A1 can keep that up. Overall a strong 6/10. If the action is kept up at least it will be worth to spend time watching this. |

I'm sorry, Penguin King... but Mordred did it better.Curse you, Ufo! Speaking of which, Mo-san was super cute this ep, especially the little blushes when trying to impress Lion-Go. I'm really happy with how they animated her. And best 5* Assassin. Shame she was barely on for a second and the only bit we see of her is the same part from the previews. :( |

| I expected both animation & art to go down with the second episode, but surprisingly it actually didn't. OP turned out to be well-animated, but the ending was kinda meh. In overall, pretty good episode. The jumps between scenes felt kinda rushed, but maybe that's how it should be. Hopefully, A-1 won't screw up the first two volumes since they are too enjoyable to be screwed up. Really glad that the A-1 shed some light on the mythological / hystorical aspects of the characters. That's exactly what Fate/Stay Night visual novel lacked. |

Higashide being horribly awful writer or having some very weird and cringe tastes does not mean one has to make peace with it being awful or stop judging it critically ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Apo has plenty of promise hidden away by all the jank. Sure it is a huge mess but Astolfo just happens to be some of the worst of that mess. Its fair to be annoyed at the mess clogging up all the promise. And Astolfo is some of nasuverse's worst not just of Apo |

| It IS kind of sad that, due to the awful adaptations and wrong focus and, in cases like this, works which are being adapted, mainstream audience came to equate the meaning and focus of fate(and nasuverse overall) with basically bunch of silly action happening on screen. There's more to nasuverse than that but anime viewers will rarely have a chance to truly experience it in top notch quality, so its hilarious to see people treating the focus of old-nasuverse(well written dialogue, exposition and lore) as just a set up for the fireworks going off. I mean in case of Apo they are not wrong to think that but still. |

| Alright, just finished watching the episode. I'm not really bothered by the difference of the art style compared to ufo, so this won't factor in my overall opinion going forward. This was pretty much perfect IMO. Let's go through the events from my lil ol' anime-only perspective. - Jeanne's final moments. This caused me physical pain. You have to be a complete monster to not feel something watching that scene. Reading her interlude in Grand Order definitely amplified the impact for me, as well, so there's that too. - The OP was pretty awesome. The song seems to fit the visuals pretty well IMO and I especially liked the zoom out from Fuyuki to Trifus and Atalanta running in like a badass. Also, I need someone to add stars flying out of every hit between Jack and Mordred. - I don't care much for Astolfo and-HEY FRAN-CHAN IS FINALLY HERE. STEP ASIDE, MORDRED, THIS IS THE REAL MOE REPRESENTATIVE OF THIS SHOW. - Damn, Vlad, get some sleep, my dude. - Mordred being Mordred, so that's awesome. I also really like her dynamic with Sisigo. They fit each other well. - After Rin in ufoUBW, Mode Red is the new source of awesome faces. - Then we shift focus to FRAN-CHAN. SHE'S SO STRONG AND CUTE AND FUNNY AND ADORABLE AND-  - We see Chiron talking to his Master and Astolfo's Master being... You know, the less said about her the better. - Siegfried's Master also being an insufferable idiot. Next expendable character, please. - Jack's heartwarming tale of finding her mommy. Ah, kids. - Shirou and Sisigo meet and we get the official introduction of Best Mil- I mean Best M- I mean Semiramis. Who is also Best-freaking-Milf. - Mordred desire to slap a bitch (and Semiramis) was pretty entertaining. - Sisigo deciding not to side to the overly friendly priest and Best Milf seems smart in hindsight. - Sisigo and Best Tomboy bond some more. Again, awesome dynamic. - Shirou comments about how Saber's mask cockblocked him from knowing her identity and Best Milf does a gesture that'd be terrifying on anyone else, but just looks sexy on her. I'm not biased guys, i swe-OK, yeah, I'm a little biased. - Suddenly comic relief with Shakespeare. That's a great scene only because we got to see more expressions from Semi. - Mordred being adorable in her casual clothes is always welcome. - GODDAMN MORDRED, at this rate you'll overshadow everybody else. awesome animation and cinematography for this entire scene. Mord kicking ass will probably be my most favorite scenes in the show, if they remain consistent with this quality. - Karna is finally here, boys. Next episode will be the first clash of Servants. Can't wait. - The ED was alright. The visuals for it were great, though A pretty awesome episode overall. A solid 9/10 from me. Keep it up, guys, you're doing a fantastic job with Apocrypha so far. |

| Based off my limited understanding of the raw version, it seemed like more setup in this episode. I was able to pick up on the fact that Servant identities were being revealed, but the only names I was able to make out were Shakespeare, Jack the Ripper, Frankenstein, and I think I heard the names Spartacus and Siegfried. After watching the subbed version, it looks like we learned the identities of the Servants on the Black Team, now we just need a few more from the Red Team to be revealed. It's also interesting to see that there's a 15th class called Ruler, who appears to be Jeanne d'Arc. |

| Still not enough Jeanne, but was still good. I already like the duo of Shishigou and Mordred, they have chemistry, which is important (more than what can be said about poor Siegfried and his Master). Also, Frankenstein (or Fran-chan) is a cutie. I said. Karna at the end was hype. The OP was awesome. The ending too, but for other reasons :) |
