Hm... kinda wonder if the whole purpose of this, isn't for us to just build wam after wam definitely.

That's it, we're cheap labor. After no sleep he'll give us the ability to communicate like him. That way he can make a call center where we talk with the people of his home world and assist them with any WAM IT problems.

Damn that end. The creepy part is how zaShunina changing Shindo but hiding it/ not discussing it beforehand ... thats kinda "cheating"? Arent human who have to decide themselves? He said that before right? I thought zaShunina would keep his word, but nah he looks like a bit full of himself in the end of episode, and thats so damn scary.

Except Shindo still could back to normal if he doesnt want that "no sleep feature" .. but we dont know.

Not quite the direction I was hoping it would head to, but that was still a pretty good episode. For a relatively tame episode, that had some breathtaking visuals. The sheer immensity of Kado is portrayed amazingly well.

Infinite and easily obtainable power source. The necessity of sleeping being removed. Hmmmm.

That would increase the amount of a human's conscious actives by 25-30%. There's many ramifications with that, I wonder where they'll take it.

Anyway, I see what is Yaha's end game... Making humanity transcend and join his kind. If it wasn't obvious before, it's glaringly so right now.

Although it was a bit disappointing to see that the main point in this episode was moving Kado from point A to point B, I liked it nonetheless. It had to happen at some point, considering the main airport was being blocked.

Regarding the "no sleep" proposition from Yahakui, I understand why he would suggest such a thing, however, this doesn't mean I'm not opposed to it.
From the beginning his desire was to advance humanity one step at a time. After giving them a technological means to do so, now comes a biological factor and I can imagine what will follow will be a spiritual one. The anisotropic, as we have seen, has the ability to create various material forms, from a full body for Yahakui to bread, as well as transferring the organic data of the passengers. I imagine it's similar to 3D printing with stem cells, but it goes beyond it by using mere molecules. This being said, it's obvious that it will be of medical use.
The sole reason all beings in possession of a brain require sleep is because the triggering of withholding processes in a number of core regions in the cerebrum, which work either in the forefront or in the background while we are awake, allows the subconscious processing of memories and the restructuring of neuroconnection. This sieve for memories makes it possible for new memories to form and be remembered in the following day, as well as some of those recorded to be stored. In addition, sleep heightens the activity of the immune system and regeneration, in other words, it helps repair the body overall.
Since we're talking about the brain, there could be an alternative where Kado is capable of supporting high metabolic activity that does not hamper neurons or even allows the regeneration of neurons - something impossible for us. But wouldn't this mean that all brains would have to be stored in Kado? Even if that were and the brain was taken care of well, the rest of the body certainly wouldn't handle something so extreme.

Thus far, I was very excited and clapped at the story, but now it's going down a very dangerous road. It's one thing to give society infinite energy and argue with them about the philosophy and moral behind it, but it's another when you try to meddle with the fundamental workings of a living being. While it can't be denied that there could be positives, there's also no denying that the negatives can be far more. This is the reason why scientists that create GMOs have literally spent their entire lives refining the process again and again to the point where the end product would in no way be harmful to humans and would not have the ability to become harmful, yet they still aren't done working, because the mindset of people is still that of strong denial and they have to place the now finished product - plants that can literally feed the entire planet - into a working social system. Considering how difficult the entire process is, the chance of this story tripping over itself at this point is high. I only hope this isn't going to become a cliché "you have the potential to become perfect, so I'll make you perfect" story where humans would have to lose their emotions and so on. In addition, I also hope that there will be no villain in the story, only different points of view, which is what the premise has so far promised.

You know, sleeping is humanity's greatest pleasure, including food and sex.

But today's episode is about geometry. Lol.

I wonder if zaShunina even has a concept of limitations. Bruh not all are for good for "advancement".
All people have their own sh*t tastes, therefore, there are no sh*t tastes, since everything is equally sh*t.

But I love sleep? :(
The Wams still don't make sense. It's witchcraft not science lol. And I still don't like the "scientist girl is a genius, because she acts like a five year old", it's ridiculous. The same for "children can adapt it better".

I wonder what his motivation and his reasons are. I don't think they will do the old "bad alien is bad"-cliche. I'm really positive that he has some deep and well-intentioned motivations, even if humanity can't cope with it eventually.

Altough I don't like "higher beings don't sleep"-cliche at the same time. Maybe supernatural beings, but you know... not a normal living being and even some weird aliens aren't some supernaturals.
I could write a whole essay of the necessity of sleeping. It's not just for the energy. Imagine you can get enough energy without sleep. Okay, however you want, I'm fine with it.
But now imagine your psyche is never shut down. You can't cope with your (daily) experiences so well anymore and there are 24/7 sensations for your brain - and you are fully aware of it! Sounds terrible, right? Even if people don't need to sleep, they would meditate or going for a nap or doze for one hour or longer to shut their environment down.

That was a nice plan of Shindo to move kado by rolling it by using the line edge of the cube in order to lessen the obstacles on the path...instead of rolling the cube the normal way.
Humans need no more to sleep? that'll be a problem?!? so no more headache and migrane? so humans won't be exhausted anymore?
is there any reason why Yaha-kui zaShunina wants to initiate this plan? is it like he wants Humanity to be more productive!?

Things are getting scarier. Zashunina really did advance the humanity "physically". Next we won't have to eat. End goal will be we won't have to die. Which is insane.

I didn't dislike the episode, but I was disappointed what it was about considering we're only getting 12 episodes. Felt a little wasteful. At least it had a really interesting end. No sleep means no dreams. No being wrapped up with blankets in a warm room and blissfully sleeping in.

After last weeks revelation its nice that we get to see a change of pace. After all Shindou, Saraka and the government really did avert a large crisis after all. While the episode did move the story by starting the process of advancing the story by moving Kado to another location we also got see see another aspect of Shindou especially his family. At the same time watching them take up the challenge of moving Kado was interesting as well. Watching him discuss his views about ZaShuNina and also discuss it with his parents was interesting. Im glad that the move from Haneda to the new location was completed without incident. So the next problem is sleep eh.

Hmm the UN was so smug that they will get all the wam.
Its nice to see them being humbled. The effects from this release to humanity will be felt far and wide but its better than letting individual states monopolize it though. Still it looks like creating Wam is not something that anyone can do though. Still its funny seeing Kanata is the only one that can actually make it though. Her mannerisms as she does is funny though. Im somewhat glad that ZaShunNina didn't land in a place like America though. Hmm with that logic the people that are able to create wam are those that are willing to change their ways eh. In this case willing to learn and adapt is one thing that ZaShunNina admires which makes these people the ones that can create wam. As a diplomat Shindou has to be more open minded than most people i guess. I guess thats why the processing for him was so successful. Hmm with the release of the passengers going well i guess the next step will be to move Kado. But move to where though i wonder. It seems moving Kado out of japan will be hard as well since there are things that are unique to japan that are useful for kado and ZashuNina as well. Hmm Lake Sayama as the new location for Kado eh. Well since all the remaining passengers will be out a day before Kado should be free to move the next day.

Hmm moving it will be a challenge in itself though as Kado needs to move in this world rather than vanishing and appearing in the new location. And this will involve a lot of work on the government and law enforcement as well too by the looks of it. It will have some effect on civilian life i guess. If anything Shindou sure is diligent in his work though the same can be said to be of Saraka as well. Hmm so it seems that Shindou has been working hard for some time it seems. Man thats impressive working without rest for so long. Lol Saraka's reaction as she saw how long its been though. Hmm taking the time to see family after such a life changing event is always a good thing. So Shindou's family runs a shop then eh. Its nice that we get to see this more personal side of him though. Hmm so now the hostages are all released we can move on to the next step. Hanamori's reaction as he left Kado though was hillarious. Hmm thats a pretty large police escort but i guess it will be necessary. Given that Kado needs to keep at least one part of it on on a surface it will need to rotate slowly as it moves. Man this is going to take some time before it manages to get to another location. Still Kado slowly rotating as it moves must be a sight to see. Man that was a long move but im glad that kado managed to get to the destination without problem. Hmm so ZaShuNina learned about human kindness when he researched human culture eh. Hmm so energy was the first goal then. Now that Wam is provided them with a new energy source what is the next challenge i wonder. Hmm so the next is providing a means to keep humanity awake and eliminate the need for sleep eh.

I actually had a sense of awe when they were moving (or at least helping move) Kado to its new location. Imagine a cube measuring 2km per side rolling itself from one place to the next, and even standing on its edge. It's like watching an elephant standing on its trunk, or a 7'6" ballerina's solo performance. It's just jaw-dropping.

It might just be the "need" that's being eliminated, where you're brain is efficiently using energy and not overloading itself from too much stimulus from the neuron being active all the time. But I'm not sure how a person would address mental stress without sleep though. What happens if you can't slow down thinking? Will everyone be able to support all that activity without going crazy? How much impact would a sleepless mind affect the body as a whole? Will it also affect aging and other bodily functions?

There's a web novel called "No Fatigue", but it's set on an "isekai" magical world. But the MC doesn't need sleep, which is an interesting detail.

A lot of people seem to want sleep but that's dumb, if an alien came and told me I could remove my need for sleep I'd be super happy, you can get so much more done and make a lot more progress if you don't need to spend time recharging your batteries every night for legit hours. It's a pain and getting rid of it is defiantly progress.

Also that movie of Kado was tense as fuck. That would be so stressful for everyone involved holly crap and it took the whole damn day to do, go forward, stop, set up, have Kado move, repeat. I found this episode really enjoyable overall even when there was just small interactions between people I was invested and with that ending, I'm looking forward to seeing how it progress'

Obvious that Kado was going to go on its edges, but it was still pretty cool watching it move.

Also, that was one of my questions in the back of my mind during the previous episodes: "Has Shindo even slept once?"

"Humanity will no longer need sleep."
But-but.. I like my sleep D: Along with all those bizarre dreams I have with it. I also use it to take up time when I'm bored :p

Depends on Zashuina's method, will he give us a magical item like wam? or will he literally improve/speed up humanity's evolution to the point we no longer need to sleep?

Our current constitution requires us to sleep to cope with physical and mental fatigue but if Zashuina can somehow modify every human to not need to sleep, I would imagine that would constitute changing our psyche or even our physical brain to the point that mental fatigue becomes irrelevant.

My problem with the anime is that I liked the premise in the beginning, but now they already finished the energy problem. It's kinda shallow now, because that actually was a big problem and the solving was too easy. In reality, the government discusses about easier things for months and years sometimes.

The anime develops into something... I don't know. It just feels like the author wants to throw his ideals and philosophy through his godlike character in your face.
All the "you should develop into a higher living being, who is free from the chains of basic needs"-thing reminds me of some crazy sects aka Scientology would tell you. XD Mortality, getting old and sick, sleep, getting exhausted, hunger, thirst, emotions, falling in love, feeling pain and grief, makes us human... or living beings.
On the other side, there is this (almost?) emotionless and immortal "god-alien", who wants you (or will force you?) to be like him.
Utopian ideas are very scary. There is a good reason why everything in the Utopia genre ends as a Dystopia imo.

Why does he even think that this could work? There is war, terrorism, murder, torture, racism, human trafficking, (still) slavery, rape, child pornography, child labor, forcesd marriage, poverty, hunger, domestic abuse, drug abuse, sexism, homophobia etc... in this world, because human souls could be very, very dark and the abyss of humans is very deep.
What the hell, why does Zashuina think that people could handle endless energy. XD Not just that SUPERIOR Japan. We all know it, it's the land of milk and honey!
But I'm sure, Japan would love people, who can work 24/7. Just imagine people, who don't work instead of sleeping, but watching six hours anime a day, because they can. XD

Well so far Zashuina has yet to tell the world what his end goal was. Even the anime characters were still questioning it in this episode. Endless energy and eliminating the need to sleep seem to point towards the necessity of humanity to work tirelessly towards a certain goal (maybe there's an impending alien invasion or the sudden death of sun, who knows).

It doesn't seem like Zashuina wants to turn humans into an advanced being like him, heck he doesn't even understand emotion. To him we would seem like a funny species full of vague concepts and ideas. His intention so far is selfless, in that he doesn't intent for wam to belong only to a certain group but rather every single human being in this world. They are convenient gifts but hardly enough to turn us into something like him. As the prime minister said last episode, it's not wam's fault if in the end humans go to war because of it. The same thing with the sleep thing. In the end it's up to every individual how to use those gifts, some will work 24/7 while some would play games and watch anime all day.

That being said, the energy problem was far from being solved. In between the pressure of international saction and military action, showing the world that wam can be created managed to avoid immediate crisis. That however was only temporary. As Shindo said, more and more people would be able to make wam. It really is just a matter of time before some people use it for bad purposes. The prime minister was fully aware of this and he decides to share wam creation anyway. Humans will be humans, Zashuina's gifts may lead to utopia in the distant future. Maybe it will force humans to work together like the end of the movie Arrival. It's not whether Zashuina thinks this can work or not, but rather it's important for us to have this gift.. even if it leads to conflicts initially

i'd say sleep is part of human nature, because without sleep you have no dreams

and dreams are a crucial building part of what influences us greatly ... there's so much to talk about regarding dreams: for example the mendelev periodic table was inspired from his dream, imagine an alternate universe where we don't sleep ... ugh

i find it really odd that guy wants to remove dreaming from humans

How did people miss the fact that Shindo appeared to not have slept for what seems like a month and has no mental fatigue or anything? It's so exceedingly obvious that Zashuina has altered the human brain to the core to "advance" Shindo to a state where sleep is unnecessary.
I guess people just saw that last scene, immediately ignored Shindo and that altered brain that (I assume) Zashuina held at the end and took it as an opportunity to try to present themselves as biology professors online. Sorry guys, you're just making a fool of yourselves.

An energy source that has infinite potential but can adapt itself to different circuits (somehow) so that the circuits won't short circuit is far more insane than getting rid of sleep. Both scenarios are beyond our imagination currently, which is the entire point of these "advancements". Zashuina is an alien, it's only natural for these things to be far beyond humanity. How the hell do you expect an alien race to develop similarly to humanity? Most alien races would be extremely different to us.

Now it's becoming evident that Zashuina is not necessarily good. Hopefully, he won't be presented as evil either. He has a different understanding of humanity. This series seems to be becoming better. Zashuina is making more questionable moves.

BTW, the whole thing about children being better with making these Wam things is smart and makes a lot of sense. It's scientifically accurate that children are the best at absorbing new information and adapting to it. To call alien technology "new" would be an understatement. Children would be by far the best at dealing with it.

The scene with Shindou's mom was cool, it raised more questions about zaShunina and showed us where Shindou literally comes from, in a way, compared to where he is now (still human but with no need for sleep).

No sleep? Mah c'mon. Does zaShunina is aware that a sleep is sweeter than the food? I believe humanity has to put an objection to this.

Kado moving positions was epic.

I'm not sure if it was a good idea to spend an entire episode on the logistics behind the otherdimensional object's delocation. It's a half-length TV show and yet Sekaisuru Kado moves more slowly than the Kado itself.

4/5 I wonder how making the brain able to work without sleep will be accepted

I need more serious consequences of Wam's introduction on Earth

that's a briliant way to move the cube.

now the first problem "energy" is solved, it's up to humanity how they will use.
the second problem is "sleep" or "rest", how will ZaShunina teach them not to sleep?

Another very impressive episode! Really found it amazing how much planning they put into Kado's moving! Quite impressive, looking forwards to see what's next!

Interesting character development about Shindo as well!
