| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Now that...was a great backstory. When Shoryu's people appeared out of nowhere on boats, I was like "SONOFABITCH" and then they all died. Great. Great going guys. The idea of people from different eras in Japan's history all living in another feudal world, is just fantastic. I have a bit of a problem with the story's attitude that a single dude can be responsible for a kingdom's downfall or rise, but I suppose you cant discount a personality's influence on a country. I just dont think it all comes down to one person either way, its like blaming the entirety of WW2 on Hitler, which isnt technically correct. People latch onto big personalities though, idoltry and all that. Or I suppose a better way of looking at it is like a film production; you have a cast and crew, but you also have a director overseeing and, well, directing everyone. What an incoherent ramble. Anyway, I just hope the story can develop a bit more to include other facets of governence and not just stick to emperor = good = happy land, emperor = bad = bad land. |

| So good. I love when we get to know the "one who grants power" beforehand, instead of a new character we have never seen before appearing out of nowhere, seeing the hero and being all "I grant thee power!!" which seems to usually be the way of things. Anyway, awesome episode. I feel like I haven't been paying close enough attention to remember/ fully understand all the concepts and meanings behind things but hopefully I will catch on to everything as it goes along. If it is true that it is Confucian as someone mentioned then that should be interesting.. |

| @Kuro_Yuuki I actually like that touch tbh. Usually, most form of medias treat charisma like it's a good thing, unless it's on a villain of course. Though in this case, the good guy had charisma to the detriment of his people. They literally followed him off a cliff and to their death. |
