THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
So they introduced some of the main roster players this episode. Not going to lie, Seiseki looks quite badass. Just on paper, they look tough with their commander has a commanding presence.

In the meantime, I think this episode did a good job at building more to the story.
I think Tsukamoto got mistaken for being a "manager", something I find kinda silly tbh. Kinda felt bad for the kid as well for getting made fun of. Quite an intense training session as well.

That was a great episode, Seiseki is quite the strong and respected team. Wonder why they weren't in the nationals for the past 2 years. :o

Kazama and his exaggerations about the truth of the athletic world XD

Tsukushi running the hell out of that outer fence course.
Really glad that his fellow first years recognized his determination to play with them.

Very interesting that Mizuki sees Tsukushi as the team captain 2 years from now.

It was kinda sad that all the other teams mocked Tsukushi but damn he showed them who was boss in that running drill, I could only grin when I saw him leading the pack.

More training next episode, Looks like there will be some practice games as well, That should be fun.

On a side note, To any manga readers, How is the anime faring adaptation wise?

Alright now I'm annoyed. Please tell me this is a re-arrangement MAPPA.
They skipped 2 chapters ! One which is ubukata's intro (the girl on the bike he passed by) and a chapter about his family's past which was kinda emotional and liked reading it , and it also had good kazama comedy (frog suit).
But the chapters that were adapted were adapted well ( they cut the interactions between the seiseki students on the bus but that's nothing important though it was funny ) but still for some reason i still enjoyed this though the skips that annoyed me cause i liked seeing the training payoff especially for tsukushi who poured his heart into it and was leading the group which was a great site.

i also hope that they re-arranged the scenes, cause chapter 4 was so damn emotional.
it was one of my favorite scenes of the manga which i wanted to see adapted to the anime.
lets hope for the best

Yeah man, i really sympathized and felt sad for him. And if they wanted people to do so, that chapter was a must to adapt and gives more background info. So hope it's just re-arrangement .

Why that guy headbutts my man Tsukamoto in the opening tho lol.

Great episode, loved watching the team bonding up and putting in work. Also their captain Mizuki is quite bad ass.

Also why is Kazama running with his hands in the pockets its funny af.

Tsukamoto may be a scrub but you have to admire that determination. All that hard work and now he's the one setting the pace and leading the group at the training camp. That's a pretty good way to show off to the people who thought he was the manager.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

I would have liked seeing some field action but I guess that'll have to wait till next week. Still enjoyable
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

Ayyy lmaoooooo finally a sports anime where the nerd isn't at the end.. and then needs some motivation like flashbacks and bullshit like that to pick up the pace. TY anime creators for time skipping and lowkey adding the fact that this bitchassss has been running for the past 12121212 months and has gotten enough pussy to fkin run.

Tsukamoto going from being the slowest to setting the pace at the training camp was a fantastic twist. Loved the part where the current team captain also claimed he would be the new captain in 2 years. Very good start to this Sports anime.

Them running up the stairs and people dropping out reminded me of the Hunter Exam in Hunter x Hunter. That said, Tsukushi really makes me want get back out on the field and build up my endurance again.

Also, I'm glad this is showing how mean people can be in sports. I dealt with a lot of shit myself but seeing Tsukushi get through it is really encouraging.

It's really cool how determined this mc is. Loved how he grew this much in just one episode. Loved how the captain said that he would be the captain in his third year. Loved how feel-good this episode was. 8/10

I really like Tsukamoto as a mc. He isn't skilled at all and is too easy to breach his efforts but I love how he never gives up. He gives the best of himself to get good results. Even when he has people making fun of him. Pretty admirable if you ask me. This series shows in a great way the rough side of sports.

He did good at the end! I just want to see more development for him and the team. Also some matches...? I guess we'll have to wait a few more episodes.

Kazama and Mizuki hot damn.

Basically Tsukamoto = Tsubaki from Giant Killing , Both animes are about football and Tsukamoto and him almost have the same personality and will probably have the same role in the team as Tsubaki did , so it's probably impossible to see a better fit

ahhh, this episode is good. what an upgrade to last week's, which wasn't bad but it just didn't leave much of an impression. also like how seiseki aren't underdogs because most sports anime start with that, and then teams later develop into a powerhouse, and how there isn't internal conflict with the members except for that brief one at the beginning just to add drama.

and i agree. mizuki quite has a presence. and kazama is cool!

oh man reading the manga and watching the anime is definitely different, i liked this episode quite a lot, and i felt all happy when that part of the boys and Tsukushi at the end came i was like hell yeah let 'em know, i really wanted to see Kazama in a frog suit tho haha i was hoping they would animate that and that part of Tsukushi w his mom too orz anyway it was great, Tsukushi is slowly evolving and the team along with him too, it's lovely to watch, i'm starting to like Mizuki too <3 can't wait for the next episode.

The first two episodes were definitely enjoyable, but why does the MC have to run like a bloody girl, this ain't funny. Also if it were real, with his poor football skills he couldn't stand a chance, but this is an anime and he'll most probably become better than anyone which is BS.

Tsukushi may seem like a weakling and wimp, but as they demonstrated that episode he's been training with the big league that whole time. Extreme conditions lead to extraordinary growth when you stick with it and succeed. Also seems like Mizuki has good eyes, Tsukushi is able to draw everyone around him into his pace and doesn't let the mockery bring him down.
