Well this was pretty bad. It honestly had the potential to be really good, but with 6 episodes and not a lot of explaining, it fell flat.
The whole idol having a dance-off which is actually a mecha battle thing seems cool as a premise...until they never really explain in detail how the system works. In the end it basically looks like idol talent literally doesn't matter. They even say that the idols mechas are based off of their feelings and willpower and shit.
So really, you could be the most un-athletic piece of shit with a voice that sounds nails on a chalkboard, but as long as your feelings are unwavering and strong enough that even you could be a Venus Formula Idol. It doesn't even come down to who sung or danced better. It's a matter of oh my mecha ran out of invisible health bar, so I conveniently fall down and whoever falls first loses.
Like it could've possibly been cool. Real cool. But as they wrote it, it literally makes zero sense.
The art was meh. All the girls were drawn reasonably nice and had big tits, which is a plus. But there were some derpy frames too.
Animation was kind of piss poor. They literally couldn't draw girls dancing which is why they never show it for more than like 4 seconds at a time. The mecha battles were pretty shit too, but at least they tried. Legit during the beach episode there was a scene where Eriko was talking to the tiger girl and her mouth stayed open and didn't move for like 3 seconds.
I'm kind of glad that Miu and Eriko lost, because their goals were like way tinier in comparison to Ruka trying to save her country.
- I felt bad for Miu at first because of her mom making her quit, but then it turned out her dream wasn't even to be an idol anyway and she was actually happy to be in the corporate world.
- Eriko wanted to help out the orphanage and stuff, which is good. But a little house of kids who are actually well off, compared to an entire impoverished country...yeah.
I love how when this was promoted back when it was first announced, they made the pink haired, blue haired, and yellow haired idols the selling point. But it turns out they weren't even relevant to the story, lol.
Also love how Ruka's outfit was literally a bra and panties with a garter belt and stockings, yet nobody batted an eye at it. Like half the time her panties were drawn so small half her ass was showing and she was almost showing a camel toe. Even the girl who's selling point was her size K tits had more modesty. Wasn't complaining though, because Ruka's outfit was sexy.
And...uhh...what happened to the abused girl? They made a big deal about how the chick from Gothic 13 was being hazed, beaten, and had fucking cigarettes put out on her. That shit's not even a joke. After that she's never heard from again. Did the other members just fucking murder her in an alley or some shit? Even at the beach, Eriko only asked about the glasses girl. Didn't even ask about her at all.
I will say, the coach actually being dead totally mindfucked me. Like they trolled me hard. I thought he was live the entire time.
The way Eriko left the room, and they immediately showed it empty afterwards I assumed that he had left already with the Boss, and she got their late, saw the empty room and assumed he died. Then they show the Boss with him standing next to her, with no discernable way to tell he's actually just a ghost. When Erika looked up into the crowd and saw him, I assumed that since she thought he was dead she was having an illusion of him standing there as a ghost, but in reality he really was standing there and she had no idea.
...then bam, wife looks over and it's just a picture of him and his glasses. Did not see that shit coming at all. Especially since the wife didn't even seem to grieve over it.
I don't know if that was intentional on their part, or just poor writing. They never even actually showed him being sick either. Every fucking day he was just chilling and playing Shogi.
