That kid must have had it really tough this episode; knowing that the colony is going to be destroyed and no one believes him. Now for the final episode, a Gundam vs one Zaku? Good luck, Bernie, you'll need it.

I knew that kid wasn't gonna deal well with reality after the last episode, but it was sad to see him break down like that around his friends. And Bernie is a moron. Being sympathetic is one thing, but you need to know when the battle is over. This whole colony reeks of death and he knows it.

And a Zaku versus a Gundam. He might as well practice turning his mobile suit around and bending it over. It'll yield the same result.

Sure it's against Gundam series standards, lol, but I totally give Bernie props for trying. He turned against running (thank you drunk chick!).

Wait, the name of the big bad guy who's going to nuke a colony is Killing? ...lol

Anyone else thought that the drunken woman was having an affair with Al's father? I don't remember anything like that being explicitly mentioned, just that his parents weren't in best terms.

It's possible.

Slower-paced episode but the quality is the same. I wonder how they're gonna save the colony...

A commander named Killing? They're not even trying to be subtle with their villain!

Why didn't Al just tell Chris the whole story? Instead of counting on destroying the Gundam with a Zaku. If they're evil enough to resort to a nuke, I doubt they would stop even if the Gundam is destroyed.

"I love you, Bernie." lolol Now all we need is for Al to tell Bernie he wants to be his wife when he grows up and I'm set.

Kind of a cool down after the intense previous episode: probably setting up for one hell of final showdown between the zaku and the gundam.
LOL at the lack of subtlety with the Killing commander dude. And tbh Al's "I love you, Bernie" after seeing him having it so tough during the whole episode (the dead kid in the ruins, Bernie chickening out and being a liar the whole time, breaking down in front of his pals etc.) was pretty touching.

Sort of rooting for Bernie now, since he had the courage to come back and fight, but he's probably gonna need all the luck in the UC-verse to even have a chance to survive against Chris, and it might not even be enough lol.

Great episode.

It's more on what are they going to do now, that everyone is dead and the colony is about to get nuke.

I think it would have been a nice reference if this was the colony Haman took down and placed on Earth in Gundam ZZ, but this happened during the 079 War so it's too early for that.

I don't blame Bernie being scared of this. That idiot Alfred hasn't seen some shit Bernie did. He has the nerve to call out him, when he himself are already getting scared of the potential deaths of his family and friends.

Lol Bernie kinda look like Quattro Bajeena with his shades and all :P

I also thought Chris was that drunk red hair girl, but i guess they just wanted it to look like her since Bernie has a thing to Chris.

It will be sad if Chris and Bernie found out their on the opposing side and has to kill each other in the end.

Last episode let's go!! I'll be watching Stardust Memory after this :D

Yeah as endearing as the kid can be sometimes, I'm more often than not irritated with him. So he tells the police station about the nuke but no one else. He doesn't tell his friends, his mom, or the perfect moment would have been to tell Chris after that Pep talk. She obviously adores him and seems smart enough not to just ignore a nuke threat (dumb ass police officers! ) . Al wasted all that precious time that could have been used to evacuate the colony and/or defend against Zeon forces just moping around at home or elsewhere.

Bernie's also pretty dumb not to get the hell out of dodge. Its a miracle being the most inexperienced zeon soldier on the mission he was the only one to actually survive, its basically a death flag for him to go back with little experience of piloting a MS against this Chris whose had training in the OP as hell gundam.

I think it'll end with Chris killing Bernie and only realizing its him too late. Not sure what the fate of the colony will be though, especially since that dumb ass kid hasn't told Chris about the nuke she'll probably end up defeating Bernie but for what purpose if she doesn't know about the nuke? I'm guessing she'll find out after the battle and maybe they'll at least save some lives.

Loved the cheating man parallel. Bernard wasn't discrete in this younger Char Aznable look but he is proved quite dumb in the end of the episode after all. Seriously? fighting against an upgraded Gundam against an experienced test pilot when pro soldiers died against the rookie Amuro? the best would have been to give himself up and report what was about to happen.

... I suppose I am the only one who was a bit moved.

As for Al, I was certain he would require Christina's help. She is kind of an adult presence to him and he knows she's in the army, even as a paperwork person she could have started a thing. But the way he had to face death was satisfying enough.

4/5

The Zeonites are going to use nukes? Talk about collateral damage.

It's technically a military target I guess. Officially the atomic bomb on Hiroshima was also aimed at a military industrial complex. Ofcourse even back then everyone knew that was bullshit.

Bernard running.
Baka! Aho! lol
Right...because every red head girl is Chris.
Damn. That's a lot of drama she's in. Of course she'd call the guy who hurt her while drunk then start crying. Women.
lol at Al saying they're getting a divorce.
Al loves Bernard.

That Zaku still lying around in the forest lol.

Also great how Al's small lie earlier backfired now - the policemen don't believe him.

I wonder why this old man at the bar knows so much, even about the nuke. Is he that good of a spy/hacker? Also, I think Chris could've figured out that Al's suggestions about a fleet coming to destroy a colony were a bit suspicious.

The latter part of the episode was kinda melancholic, I almost teared up (and yes, I liked when Al "confessed" to Bernie, what's wrong with that? He's attached to him even after all the harsh words). My favorite scene though is when Al is trying not to cry with his friends. These folks still think that war is a cool game...Yet Al tasted the truth the day before. Really a moving scene.

By the way, I finally get the "Happy New Year" poster in the ED. I guess it's foreshadowing that colony isn't going to be destroyed after all. At least not by Christmas.

I feel bad for Al and Bernie in this episode. If they don't do anything everyone is going to die. I was avoiding series with a Christmas themes but ironically I ended up watching a series like that this time lol. My prediction failed again, Al didn't say anything to Chris :/

All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

For a Gundam anime, this show is clearly more character oriented, making it less action based than your typical Gundam anime. Al is shown in this episode to be a brave kid, but the pour soul feels like his actions are for naught. Bernie is having secnd thoughts about whether or not his work has been worth anything. This episode is really good.

"They wouldnt do that." says the guy whose side dropped a colony on earth.

The fact that Al is still pro-Zeon fucking baffles me.
