Have you put an anime on hold because it was so good you feared finishing it?

I realized I haven't touched Hanasaku Iroha in 3 weeks or so because I don't want it to end. I feel like this is a series I should 'escalate to' or 'graduate to'. I don't claim to have seen many shows, it's been roughly 7 months since I started watching anime altogether, so I guess I fear that if I see too many of the best shows available too soon, all the second tier and lower shows will become boring if I don't watch them first.

I are idiot?

Ever happened to anyone else?

One Piece, I don't wanna catch up, even though I can't help but read spoilers.

Natsume Yuujincho, I left out the newest OVA/Special, it's the last animated episode, I am afraid to complete it.

I used to, but not so much now. I can understand why though. Sometimes you don't want something you enjoy to end.

I have a bad habit of putting most anime I did enjoy on hold or just dropping it altogether before finishing the last few episodes. Possibly for the same reason. I still have stuff from several seasons ago I should probably go back and finish.

I can't do that. If I'm really enjoying an Anime, I finish it asap and then regret doing so. It's a vicious cycle.

I never officially class it as being 'on hold' but I have, not entirely intentionally, decreased my pace when watching anime that I was enjoying a lot. Currently I'm going at snails pace with Slam Dunk and I know it's partly because I don't want to reach the end. On the other hand I also haven't watched MÄR in a while and that's actually something I want to complete fast.

Not really. I do let episodes of some ongoing anime build up so I can marathon them though.

Not really. I watch anime when the mood is right. Besides, if you put it on-hold for too long, the ending won't be as satisfying.

let me tell you a secret: i never finished any of the anime in my list; i've actually put them all on-hold right before the final episode

on a serious note, yes (shirokuma cafe ;-;)
and this should've been a poll

I never intentionally do it, but it always happens subconsciously.

Cardcaptor Sakura would be a prime example. Season 2 is only 11 eps long but it took me several weeks to get through it.

I don't put shows on-hold. If i ever leave them for more then a week, then it's off the dropped list where i shall never see them again.

Nah, but that IS dumb, it's like letting your food rot, because it was too good to eat.
This has just about as much logic as this:

I can understand putting episodes off, but dropping it altogether? How can you stand not knowing the ending of an anime after being invested in it for so long? If I had to choose, I'd rather not start the anime at all or stop watching after the initial couple episodes so I still have more to look forward to.

I also have a similar habit of putting anime on hold. How long I hold off depends on my mood and the anime in question.

For example, I really like Lucky Star but I only watch an episode every few months as a pick-me up when I'm feeling particularly blue. It's kind of similar to eating a cake I guess. It's better to savor it over time rather than finish it one go. However, I only feel this way for a rare few anime.

Actually, I have.

The biggest example of this for me isn't actually an anime though, but a manga. I've still yet to finish Gunslinger Girl for that very reason.
