Honestly I'm pretty "meh" on Root A so far. I really want to see the Kanou and Raid on Anteiku arcs animated along with :re so I wish the anime would just follow the original story. I will definitely watch it and give it a fair shot however, just doubting it will be as good as the manga.

Completly agree.

They could have at least followed the original story from the manga till the final few chapters and edit the ending so it doesn't end with a cliffhanger like in the original story or the pervious season.

Nevertheless, we can at least expect some kicking ass to take place.

I'm pretty open to it. Ishida has laid out a pretty complex web that intertwines almost on an insanity level. you have:

Tokyo Ghoul
Tokyo Ghoul Hibi
Tokyo Ghoul Jack
Tokyo Ghoul Joker
Tokyo Ghoul:Re

so i think its gonna be nice to get something we don't have to pull our hair out about with conspiracies and what not from Ishida.. Something to enjoy more or less. hopefully its good. everyone wants that damn half kill scene. but how exciting is it that each week we wont know what'll happen on an animated episode of a totally new story!?!? i just wished the eps were uncensored :/

I am not complaining. I just thought that it is going to be another manga (since we are in manga discussion thread). Personally I want to see how they are going to do in season 2 in order to hide damage they done in season 1

the differences seen so far..

he's joining aogiri
he's in cochlea for some reason
hide is seen in an investigator uniform (most likely an investigator and not an assistant)
its been established that it wont follow the manga by officials, its an original story/variant to the OG story.

Went and read up on a lot of the spoilers on Tumblr and Batoto. Still really mixed feelings about the whole thing. Curious to see where Ishida wants to go with this Kaneki joining Aogiri route. I still think I'd rather have it go with the Kanou and Anteiku arcs, but what can you do? At least we're getting a season 2 at all... Holding out hope that the ending will be the same or similar to the manga (or a season 3 would get it back on track) and that we will get to see :re as an anime in a couple years.

If Ishida wasn't writing the season I would be worried about this but according to the spoilers for the first episode Kaneki is very in-line with how he is in the manga. Ishida knows what he's doing.

Are they really?
I wouldn't count on it since Kaneki rescued Touka here,I highly doubt he's gonna let Ayato get a free pass.

Also just brain storming here if he is really joining Aogiri and gonna be on Cochlea.
Maybe he gets recruited by Either Noro or Tatara after he gives Ayato the bones treatment and help them in Subjugating Cochlea.
If I recall correctly Aogiri hide out was just a bait for Cochlea to have no defense.

Lost half my excitement for the anime.

oh well i guess normally i hate fillers but maybe itll be interesting, i already knew they were going to take out all the best parts of TG that give its dark essence like uta eating an eyeball when him and kaneki first meet and the extent of kanekis torture. i knew they weren't going to the manga justice but maybe in a couple years when tokyo ghoul is hte new naruto and everyone realizes ishidas the new god of manga they'll make a Tokyo ghoul (2016) or w/e lyear it is like how htey made a Hunter x hunter 2011

The story from S1 is also from Ishida, lol. We can't be sure that they will do justice even to the original draft of the manga. But since we've got no way of knowing how the story will go in this route, everything new will be awesome as long as they don't mess it up too much.

It was something about the second season being a parallel universe based on another draft made by Ishida himself.

I'm shaking my head here right now because all this was hinted like 3 months ago.
