The last part gave me goosebumps. I kinda wish Ito and Aya's reunion was shown, but then again Mushishi is not a happily-ever-after kind of show.

the ending was nice, but i wanted to know how old aya was when ito returned home..

Too bad the circumstances under which she returned were so vague, but I guess most people were too happy that she had actually returned to care right away. XD

I second that. I haven't had a favourite up until this point, but this one for me was one of the best.

I would have preferred the sad ending. The happy ending is kind of... a quick conclusion.

But the mail system is awesome. :D

What a way to send letters ^^.

I love how japanese children say "okay", children in this show are lovely.

So she was reunited with her parents and I guess Aya eventually as well? That's as close to a happy ending as we seem to be getting here. Loved the episode, one of the best.

Also. Real cool concept with the uro-passageways and the mushi-mail system. Adds to the already fascinating setting of this anime.

With the way these happy endings go, I feel like it was probably many years after the fact that Ito showed up. I'd like to imagine that Ito somehow got to meet up with her sister, but with the way that it was phrased as a legend and such, I feel like she got back to her hometown, but possibly everyone she knew in the past was dead.

Ah wells. Bittersweet.

Yeah it's very cool. But then you think about what the person who has to deliver the messages has to put up with. It has to be the worst job ever! You cant go in enclosed spaces unless you want to be eaten by a tiny hairy creature.

Mushi are evil and should be exterminated!!!

I liked the the entire cocoon letter system and how the Mushi worked within it. I thought it was pretty cool.

^This, I've been wondering how Ginko conveniently knew which places needed a Mushishi

Such a creative system, utilizing mushi. The Uroana seems like a scary place to go into, but it's also interesting how they can be used as shortcuts. But seriously, poor Ito. She's got the worst luck ever. I'm glad she made it back, even though she could no longer speak and was still a child. Aya's work wasn't in vain after all.

Amazing episode. One of my favorites so far. The primitive mail system powered by mushi, plus the never ending cave elements were ingenious and cool. Story was tragic and mysterious, but had a great ending. Pretty much perfect.

So you cant be in enclosed space so wouldn't it be enough to just have a window sized hole on the house?

Or if it's about just the doors then why not just nail a block on the wall of the entrance so that the door cant be closed.

Otherwise i great episode and i liked that the sister didn't get teleported because of a accidentally closed door.

"Close that huge hole in your heart... before you become unable to come out of it."

Amazing episode. Everything's been said already. I just wanna add something I didn't see posted here as well, the uro cave seemed to be a sort of metaphor for the hole in Aya's heart. Very poetic and very beautiful, especially how she broke down crying in the midst of it. Really goes to show she "got" it right there and then, that Ito's survival was unlikely. Also I'm glad someone noted out that Aya was sending letters through cocoons in hopes of one reaching Ito, looks like it worked out seeing as how she came out with a letter ^_^. Overall one of my favorite episodes, there were so many good scenes.. Ito disappearing, uro cave, and just the ending itself. Also concept wise amazing arc/lore for communication amongst mushishi. 10/10

(But I accidentally voted it 4/5 up top yo man how do I re-vote LOL)

"Urushibara Ruka. The mannerisms and voice of a woman... No... More feminine than any woman. But he's a guy. Taller than Mayuri, but so very thin... But he's a guy. Looks great in a miko outfit... But he's a guy. It's already twilight And yet, it's so hot. The cicadas are crying. But... He's a guy."

A somewhat good ending, although I'm pretty sure Ito's memories were probably erased. At least that's what Ginko said, that if you're there too long you lose memories. Great episode.

Jizzy as you would call yourself because youre a dick The most butthurt award goes to you And clearly you havent watched that many shows thats why you cant determine if a show is unique or not Or maybe you're just a child who likes common stuffs where hero saves the day and guys gets all the girls. Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

I was getting tired of all these sad stories. Idc how unrealistic it was that she got out, I just wanted a happy ending xD

This was one of my favorite episodes. I was so fascinated at some points that I ended up still thinking about what they just explained rather than listening to the current dialog =P

Thy actions cause men pain and suffering.
Thy hollow soul drowns in thy sins.

The ending scene should've been the girl (now grown up) wandering arround slowly in the labrynth. A depressing, but awesome end in my opinion.

The current ending is fine, I just think a tragic ending like that would be more impactful.

That's what I thought, too.

It must be hard for a 15-year-old girl to live alone in the woods.
