It looks real good animated and it seems like they didn't watered down the gore in the PV, we'll have to see how it goes in the real series though... The characters design are way different from the manga but I'll see how it goes first to see whether it's for the better or worse.

Are they really anime original characters though? I feel like they are probably just some of Satomi's generic classmates, which I recall speaking once or twice in the manga.

I have high hopes for this. Since the manga is completed they should adapt it perfectly! MH is good with Manga adaptions so hopefully it'll be epic!

Good thing I haven't read the manga. Seems like the character design needs time to get used to if I read it XD

I hope Shinichi will stop wearing glasses at around the same time he starts combing his hair back, it just wouldn't work any other way.

It's getting a live action adaptation (not sure if it's a film or series though) as well as an aniime.

Oh, thought it looked familiar. Saw the live action trailer before hearing about the anime.

The PV looks awesome. Seriously don't get all that fuss over the change in chara design. Judging from the manga's art, the MC simply went from your average 80-90's highschool boy to your average 2010's highschool boy. Big deal.

Anywayz, I'm hyped.

I really don't understand this argument, how exactly do glasses make him more 'modern'? Did glasses not exist 10 years ago or something? There's absolutely no difference to how average he looks with or without glasses, both now and ten years ago. (Not to mention there's nothing wrong with keeping a show that's set in the 80's-90's in it's original timeframe; just look at Jojo.)

Rather, I think the change in hair colors of some of the characters and changing the school uniforms from just a plain white shirt to a distinctive blue jacket makes the characters look a lot less plain and boring, which was kind of the point of the series- that any random person could be a parasite.

Well, if the change is limited to just some character designs then I don't really mind. In terms of sound and animation the PV actually made me really look forward to it.

Excuse me but, where did you ever read "glasses" in my post? It's not like it's the only change in MC-kun's chara design: the haircut is a tiny bit different and the the clothing style was (understandably so) upgraded to the 2010's. That's what I was referring to. And I think get where you're coming from with keeping the 80's-90's style, but that Jojo comparison doesn't work simply because the Jojo stories follow a timeline that starts in the late 19th and goes up to the present day (Steel Ball Run excluded).
Of course they'd have to keep each part in their respective timeframe.

Now if you want my honest opinion on the glasses, they're just a random addition that alone, should not hinder a former manga reader's enjoyment of the show in any way, shape or form (granted Madhouse do their job on the characterization part). If anything the glasses even add a bit more to the "averageness" vibes gave off by Sinichi at the beginning of the story. And my guess is he'll eventually take 'em off as he further develops (cause combing your hair back sure isn't cool anymore lol). So yeah, no big deal.

Uh, maybe you've just breezed through my post because I've addressed more than just his glasses, but I do that too I guess, so i'm not one to criticize. I don't think his hair is anything worth talking about anyway, it's pretty similar to the way it was in the manga, which is still nothing out of the ordinary

When people talk about the change in Shinichi's character design the addition of glasses seemed to be the most blatant and controversial topic to me, and i've seen the 'modern look' argument used to justify any change in his character design, which I found stupid. Sorry for any confusion. About his uniform- Since I don't live in Japan I don't know how the usual school-clothing fare works there, but I doubt it's even half as flashy as anime portrays it to be. The manga's uniform design were as plain as it gets; which I liked.

Honestly if there's one thing in the change of character design which really rubbed me the wrong way it's the change in some of the female character design, some completely plain, homely looking gals turned into:

Which is worrying.

A production team that isn't afraid to take some liberties is good, but I just hope it doesn't get out-of-hand, y'know.

The Jojo comparison was more directed solely to SC since it's the only part that's set in the 80's. And it does tell, with stuff like the bulky televisions Joseph uses his hermit purple on and the lack of things like cellphones and so on... It would be more than just a little weird if Jonathan had a cellphone or a computer.

>And my guess is he'll eventually take 'em off as he further develops

I guess this makes more sense to me, it'd sure beat the glasses being just a 'stylistic decision'. Tho he looked so slick with his hair combed back, The Fonz would of been proud.

I was wondering, wasn't the teacher called Reiko Tamura in the manga? Then I checked, Ryouko Tamiya was her original name.

So.. tell me, why is Izumi wearing glasses?

Manga's Izumi look more manly, anime's Izumi look like a scary cat bookworm. *sigh*

I hope it won't disappoint me after I watch this, but I know I won't. I don't care about the character design like everybody hates it, I think it's perfect for the theme of the anime.

I've heard good things about the source material, so I am optimistic. I've never understood why people complain about the most insignificant changes before an adaptation is even out. Whether or not the main character wears glasses, it will not be what determines whether the anime lives us to its potential.
Pie is delicious.
