| As expected Takumi lost. I figured Mimasaka would have to win in order to have his butt handed to him by Soma in the later chapters. Although Takumi did put up a pretty good fight there at the end. You just can't beat someone who knows everything about you, and can exploit those weaknesses. So in the semi final we have Soma, Akira, Kurokiba, and Mimasaka? Sounds like a pretty good mix to me. Too bad we don't have any female characters left though... |

| It would have been pretty lame if they introduced Mimasaka right before the shokugeki just to make him lose during it. I'm glad that there are more antagonist for the MC. |

| There's definitely going to be a Souma/Mimasaka match-up now, sigh. (I mean, I was like, 95% positive that Aldini would lose, but I still held onto that 5% for some reason.) I guess I wouldn't have been as annoyed with this chapter if it wasn't for the fact that Mimasaka is such a perfect opposite of Souma and has the exact sort of cooking style that Souma will easily crush. Researching/guessing Souma is basically impossible, as he does so many weird things on a whim. I'm hoping this match up happens in the quarter-finals so that we won't have to sit through an Aldini 2.0. These cook-offs are no fun when the result is basically glaringly obvious. (Except when Souma cooks, because then the process is often as much/if not more fun than the result.) |

The "copying gimmick" is his cooking where he mimics his opponent's dish and improve it's taste. So what character concept are you talking about? Also there is no such thing as "character concept" in literary tools and devices so nice try Champ. |

You forgot the fact after a thoroughly investigation, he is able to fully emulate them and cook it almost exactly as them and then take their recipes to improve their taste. | OMG lol, I'm not creating a new literary device by putting 2 words together. What does character mean? What does concept mean? I'll use character behaviour, character trope, what the hell do you want me to use lol??? Put 2 to 2 together and stop being so anal about definitions. My opinion of the character is that his "mimicry" is a terrible idea, especially for a cooking manga. This isn't a shounen about jutsus, this is a manga about cooking. My opinion of him stealing receipts and using same ingredients, mindfucking people and that being his bread and butter way to beating others is an awful concept that opens up a lot of plot holes. This manga had been good about plot holes upt till now. I'll leave it at that, I don't want to create a shit storm. |
