The adaptation is amazing with how faithful it replicated the manga's unique artsytle. HOWEVER. The animation was dreadful throughout. It truly is the definition of a moving manga. For that reason it really hampered my enjoyment, since there was not much to look forward to or get excited about, even though it was so visually unique.

NEED MORE EPS WHERE?!

By the way....was the fish trying to make Nene to live with them an anime-only thing? I've never read the manga but for some reason it gave me that vibe (I also thought that they were going to pull the scale out of her somehow thus nulling the arrangement she had with Hanako and then It'd be a TRUE question of sticking with him against her will or not.....but oh well, the hope that it went down that line was dashed I guess...)

ANYWAY, here's hoping this series comes back in some form in the future. I loved watching this every week.

5/5 episode, 10/10 anime, my heart ;-;

I normally don't vibe that well with extremely cute characters cuz I usually find them annoying, but straight away in the first ep when Nene learned a lesson about love that I really wished I had learned sooner I knew that she was gonna be a real G, I see my HS self in her a lot with her thought process and the lessons she's learning, obvs I can't relate to having a really cute ghost friend but hey the world can't be perfect. Hanako is one of my favourite characters ever EVER. When Teru told off Kou for not exorcising Hanako I was worried he was gonna be a bad guy but i'm really glad that we got to see him be a little more understanding, u can see how much of a soft spot he has for his lil bro and honestly I would too if I had Kou as a little brother. I really hope there's a 2nd season! I wanna see Hanako's and Nene's relationship develop even more! Hanako with Tsuchigomori too, when I went back to watch ep 6 when Tsuchigomori said the moon rock was real after knowing where it came from my heart swelled just that little bit more, but there's still so much mystery between them and i'm excited to learn about it! Hopefully it'll be through a season 2 but if I have to read the manga then im gonna read the manga idc

For me, Toilet-bound Hanako-kun was like a breath of fresh air. Something refreshing of the Supernatural genre. I have to mention, the art style, was phenomenal!

Storywise, it was good, nothing that we haven't seen before, but i really liked the execution/flow of the show. Characters, top notch, nothing to criticize there. Nene is so adorable i wanna hug her right now!!

8/10 im plenty satisfied with the experience. Another one of the dark horses of this winter season, would love more of this!

A series solely based around 七不思議. Mostly a comedy, but semi-serious at times. The art style in this series is fairly unique, thick lines and a sort of film grain applied to everything, but it seems like it comes at a cost of actual animation. The majority of this series is still frames with little actual movement. The style actually works well for the comedy and overall is not a bad choice, but there were times where it was hard to think of it as anything more than just a comedy and took away from the more serious parts. The comedy was definitely not laugh-out-loud, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I didn’t especially like any of the characters, they were all just okay. I found the voice acting a little strange, especially Hanako and Mitsuba, they sound so soft and gentle and it's kind of off-putting in a way. Speaking of Mitsuba, he just felt like fujoshi bait to me. The majority of this show more or less looks and feels like a kids show, with more mature elements sprinkled in. It’s a decent series, but I wouldn’t call it great.

I feel you! All you said! I really wish they'll confirm 2nd season soon, but in the meantime I started reading the manga and I can tell you that it's a MASTERPIECE. It's still ongoing and you an easily find it - The story goes on getting even more beautiful and intriguing and the art is amazing. If you loved the anime you'll love it even more! ❤️ I recommend it to you

The final episode was cute but it lacks an interesting conflict. I felt the plot a bit empty and somewhat repetitive. Anyway, cute characters. 6/10 for the anime.

Aw damn we reached the last episode. Ngl, I really fucking enjoyed watching Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun, especially the comedic parts. I can't exaggerate how much I love the comedic parts, they just come at the most unexpected times lol.
I also enjoyed the exploration of the different relationships in this anime, it's almost as if all the apparitions are humans who are capable of maintaining a relationship.
This is one of the few anime in which I enjoyed watching the harem lol.
The art style is also very cute and I appreciate it, adds on to the comedic factor too lol (d41k0n legs)

Lerche nailed this adaptation so hard.

THE ART is a Godsend! This is without doubt the gorgeous, eye-candy anime made so far. It don't have that SnK, OPM (RIP S2...) or basicly everything from Ufotable sakuga hype animation, but every "panel" is so well done it's nothing less then a wallpaper festival for 24 minutes each week.

I hope that we will get a season 2 next year or even sooner because I'm not ready to say goodbye to Hanako and Nene.

I would score this a very solid 8/10 but I need to add +1 for the marvellous art design and +2 for Ogata Megumi as Yugi brothers. She transformed fun and interesting personages from manga to something beyond special. Get in the toilet, Hanako!

IMHO Perfect 10, would give more if it was possible.

Like a pause rather than end. Some episodes dragged on but some subplots might be worth to follow up.

Enjoyed the beautiful stylish art, tho at times oddly slow pacing, & lacks animation gets obvious. Comedy quite hit & miss. Some annoying needy characters with still murky motivations. Kou & Mitsuba are fun tho and Yashiro's the main comedy.
It's a mix bag between boring unfunny vs good plot arcs with that perfect yokai atmosphere.

That aside, really enjoyed this show. Likable characters and the art is superb. The panel style was cool too. Animation might have been poop but it's still comfortable to watch because of the gorgeous art.

Interesting watch. Art of course was gorgeous. And the overall audiovisual aesthetic was very engrossing. But the plot never went anywhere to really excite me. So it ended up being more of a "chill and enjoy the aesthetic" watch, rather than something where I was really invested and interesting in the actual events. Not that the characters weren't interesting, but there wasn't enough development, especially for the side characters, only exception being Mitsuba who was fantastic.

I had it on an 8 for most of the season but that was kind of optimistic hoping for a solid ending, which it really needed to earn the 8 from me. Unfortunately, there was no ending. So yet another 7/10 that did a few things amazingly, but was too one-dimensional in it's quality.

I could definitely see myself raising this to an 8 or 9 if it gets more seasons which develop the characters and plot, in addition to providing a solid ending.

Weird ending.
The art was nice, the concept was also nice and canceled out the bad comedy.
All in all it was average for me.
5/10 ( C tier )
Would have been a 6 ( B tier ) if those last episodes were any good.

It's just so-so for me. I wouldn't recommend this if anyone would ask for an anime recommendation. Still! I learned a lot. I had no idea there was this urban myth like Hanako in Japan. And I'm willing to watch season 2 if there's going to be one! Hopefully with more roles for Kou's brother!

Just curious...Am I the only one who ships Nene and Kou?

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!

It’s a good show , however something about nene and hanako liking each other just doesn’t sit right with me (I haven’t read the manga , but I’m assuming they do end up together ) . The color scheme of the series was really nice and I’m glad they stayed true to the manga’s style. I know people hate him but tsukasa is my favorite character alongside Mitsuba (I know very different characters , but I still like them both ) overall I’m excited for season 2!

I really enjoyed this show. It's very cute and the art style is just total eye-candy. It's so pretty to look at. I really liked Nene and Kou but Hanako-kun was definitely the standout. He's adorably cheeky. Plus, I totally ship him with Nene. That scene at the end where she was like "Caught you!" was so cute.

My main question is: if Nene turns into a fish every time she gets splashed with water then how does she go for a shower? This is not the sort of question I should be asking about this type of anime but it did bug me slightly.

Overall, very enjoyable. Hope there's a Season Two. 8/10.

I'm honestly surprised qt how many people are complaining about the animation or didn't enjoy it but made it this far. I didnt see anything wrong with its style.
Lerche tends to do a decent job in my oppinion. (Even though they screwed up classroom of the elite a little i enjoyed that too and im hoping they pick it up for a season 2 eventually).

Now I wish they didn't skip or rearrange things cause the manga is perfect pacing wise. But i get why they made this the finale. Things come full circle with the little mermaid arc brining up the mermaid for the first time since episode 1.it offers more closure then if they ended with the nene reveal. Same with moving the mitsuba arc up instead of the clock keepet arc. I do wish they would of done the young exorcist arc though. They better adapt it and the other arcs they skipped if we get a season 2.

I'm optimistic for a 2 considering lerche adapted assasination classroom entirely

So I started reading the manga after I finished the Anime and I'm kinda sad that they skipped some arcs and changed the order. Kinda confusing after reading the manga lol, but I still enjoyed it overall. I really hope they will add the missing arcs in season 2, especially the short arc with Kou! + I can't wait to see more Hanako x Yashiro moments in the future. :')

I grew to love this anime sooooooo muchhhhhhh, ahuuuuuuuuu (ಥ﹏ಥ)

8/10 bc the first episode wasn't that great and I didn't start liking Nene until a third of the way in. She just wasn't up to par as a suitable lover for Hanako, but now she's getting there :D good character development.

Kou-kun's older brother lacked presence in S1 as well :X

Art style was unique and gorge, OSTs were nice, storyline progressed extremely well and got increasingly entertaining throughout. Bravo.

Nene... I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate her more than Ochaco Uraraka (I never thought I would say that about anyone).

I'm sorry if I simp too hard for Hanako-Kun (yes I am basic), but come on. I can't be the ONLY one who's really really really really jealous of Nene.

I have rated 5/5 for every episode of this anime; however, this was officially the worst final episode I've ever seen, so I gave it a 1/5.

Don't @ me, I still love this anime a lot and will give it an 8/10, but they REALLY screwed it up with Nene x Hanako. But I guess 99% of people ship them because they are somewhat sane and don't obsessively freak out over 2D boys, and there will always be that 1 person (me in this case) who doesn't agree with something in an anime just because they can't date their husbando.

Oh LOL even if Nene didn't exist I still wouldn't have a chance with Hanako... Eh, I still hate her. UWU

Edit: Lmao I'm reading this again and I am not making any sense... Oh well ^^

Okay, so they actually brought the missing arc from a previous episodes. I felt its kinda unmatched. Its weird they forced it so hard to matched up with the current plot. Lmao. Whatever. This episode contained some intrigueing parts. This should get another season, or else, imma rampaging this serialization. So far, i believed, this unique show needed more appreciation. And i am here coming in to give more cheering for the next continuations.

Could they make it? Idk. Its all up to the studio decision. But i really had a high expectations to knew what will happened in the future. Score? Its served as an introduction, unexpected, but really understandable. Its still lack of detailed on its story telling. They even had some missing storylines in their path. Idk, i feel it still lack some information that led some unintentionally mysterious being. Even Sakura and Hanako Amane never met each others to conclude Hanako reaction over the traitor on his territory! Oh well. The animations had a weak spot, that style was not really my liking, and the sounds felt nothing good but stull hold some catchy moments. The art department surely had an unique attempt with a beautiful gradations of its color base. Well, this is my Overall scores, then:
8/10.

I hope its improved more in the next season. If, the studio decided to gamble more in to this serialization. Because, so far, its not so great, in my point of view. Thats it.

Okay so they added the skipped arc but still I don't know what's the point of jumbling up the events. The pacing of the manga was already decent as it was. It just made things more confusing because that fish was supposed to be dead or killed by Tsukasa already at this point and they tried so hard to match the events.

They skipped the Young Exorcist and Clock Keeper arcs. I'm especially bummed about the Young Exorcist arc and Hanako and Teru's fight getting skipped because it had some development for Kou. I'm holding off my final judgment for now in case if they announce a second season and decide to put the missing arcs in it. Might increase my score if that happens.

I probably would have enjoyed this anime more if I went into blindly but since I read the manga, I just can't help but feel disappointed.

I'm all for stylistic animation but damn this show felt like a slideshow tbh. At the very least, I do give them credit for capturing the manga's unique artstyle. I really loved the visuals here.

1st of all I must applaud this anime, even w/ a name like "Toilet-bound Hana-kun" there was not a single joke about farts or crap so wait to take the high road there.
Overall, this was a cute show really liked the romance of this show and just the incrediblely cool art style this show had. I mean it was a biiit repettive w/ the typical monster of the week formula which isnt too bad but ultimately I feel this show is an 8/10

Well, this show just kind of went nowhere, concluded nothing, and I didn't even enjoy the trip. I gave it a 5/10.

I was expecting something else, I guess.

Art was beautiful, but I could've just gotten a folder full of screensavers and not heard about Nene's fat legs every 30 seconds.

EDIT: I was expecting a cross between "Dusk Maiden of Amnesia" and "Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun!" Something with a mysterious death leading to a ghost haunting a school, but more lighthearted than Dusk Maiden. Look at the color palette and cute character designs.

Instead I got "Never Shuts Up About Boys or Her Fat Legs" girl, a ghost that's kind of a jerk (that's forgivable), and a rookie exorcist guy who was more interesting to me than the other two. I think that the show could've dropped Nene altogether and been about Kou and Hanako teaming up and slowly becoming friends. Kou quickly became friends with that Mitsuba guy I didn't care about.
