hotpot & boats... oh uchoutenkazoku flashbacks. OP way less budget than a usual ED, but both songs nice, main show looks ok too.
Nice designs, tanuki, kitsune, familiar folklore, and rakugo in taisho feels fresh.
Half funny, half lost in translation maybe, like teppen.

As others have already pointed it out, some of it is lost in translation, so not necessarily a fan of it in anyway. The way it's animated also feels like a powerpoint presentation but I doubt it's a stylistic choice and not a compromising factor especially with how many close-up shots were present.

Not really watched anything like this before, but from what I can tell its something along the lines of Joshiraku, or its to do with that type of entertainment. I also haven't watched that either.
So with having no knowledge of these I hope I'll enjoy it!

Her Rakugo was awful but this show is not about it (at least I hope its not).

I feel Tanuki-papa's stories were lies to her daughter, that would be sad af.

Now Bunko has a lot of creatures working with her? I'd like that.

A tanuki girl changing her appearance amongst humans to trick them and ending up being fan of rakugo because of that rakugoka girl she met and saw her spectacle so she wants to perform rakugo as well hmm not too bad it was somewhat cute though the production quality is a bit disappointing, but so far that's a fine start imo

The OP to this was surprisingly fun and catchy, I can see it worming it's way into my playlist after a handful more episodes.

Went into this with zero idea what it was about and was very pleasantly surprised; I'll be looking forward to episode two of this for sure

I love the fill in after the credits for explaining things if the audience is confused on the rakugo too; it's such a wonderful little touch.

I wish I can understand Rakugo :). Jokes from different culture sure is not easy to digest. But this story is kinda cute and I think I will follow up on this show

I dropped it, i only tried watching because I was bored but the jokes are really hard to translate which means it ends up boring.
It's probably the hardest anime I have seen to make it relatable to non Japanese speaking people.

I don't like the rakugo jokes, they just aren't funny in the least. But I think the Tanuki in human form is very pretty, and her antics with the villagers are pretty funny. I just really, really hope they don't focus too much on the unfunny Japanese jokes.

Character and there Characteristics were clearly shown in this episode and I love both of the characters already. The Tanuki form is soo cute. This was wholesome & enjoying episode.

It sure is a problem for non-japanese speaker to Watch this show. I have can speak & write some Japanese language and I can understand it. And I also know the culture, history, stories, myths & behavior of Japanese. So, it's not hard for me to understand this at all. I hope everyone can understand and know how good this anime can be.
Looking forward to next episode!

The first episode is pretty good. I didn't really get all the jokes (thankfuly there's the end segment that explained everything) , but I'm honestly fine with that. The animation and art are pretty decent too.

Normally I'd complain about anime that underestimates the audience's intelligence by explaining every minute plot detail. But this time I appreciate the post-credit summary of that rakugo story for dum-dums like me.

Late to the party, but was just wondering that.

Or maybe the quality of the subtitles has changed since it first aired (?), because I understood the entire rakugoka segment, and found the story funny. And I don't speak more than 10 words of Japanese.

Still liked the end segment though. Cute, and something useful for people who didn't understand.

I know about this show from even before it was aired, because YouTube recommended me some commercials about it with good songs so I decided to give it a try.

Is pure Japanese culture, I didn't know about this legend of the tanuki being a trickster or having those powers like shape shifting, I already knew about rakugo and looks like she fell in love with it but I don't get something, that scene with the flying ship, it was real? The other girl is also not a human? Looks like this is going to be more magic and fantastic than I thought.

Some parts are hard to understand if you don't know very much about japanese folklore and the rakugo is good but isn't enjoyable if you don't speak Japanese because the puns and everything are almost entirely untranslatable so if you aren't Japanese you won't be able to enjoy this show as much as it was supposed to be.

That last segment was like the meme of Peter Griffin explaining the joke, was literally it lol
