We are already almost half way through the show and its not even close to be bait not to mention a fully fledged yuri. Anyone who says otherwise is delusional

Yes, any show featuring 2 female characters that have some remotely close relationship is full out yuri. They don't show it but we all know that they go all out behind the scenes.

@RobertBobert yea I know, not like I'm surprised by it. It just becomes annoying after some time

If you know the origin of the meme why do you even have to ask?

I do think Spy x family is different for the fact alone that they went as a hetero family and not as 2 girls. But the underlying concept can be seen as the same. Romantic tension developing between the characters. Obviously Yor and Loid arent a yuri couple.

Yes going to the aquarium is a metaphor for getting wet or something idk

If it's just a satirical meme, then I'm sorry and I stand corrected.
You need to understand tho, that in current day and age some people would say that unironically.

Anyway, the meme itself is kinda cringe. I'd rate it 3/10.
its pretty cute though. In most of the yuri manga I know the aquarium date is a big deal and often a turning point for the relationship

I asked you a rhetorical question because the yuri aquarium meme comes from a part of the yuri community that didn't watch or read anything other than yuri, so they don't know that going to the aquarium is a normal part of Japanese culture. Metaphor lol. Then Aquatope is one big bedwetting metaphor lol.

There are a lot of yuri metaphors like lilies or playing the piano together, but that has nothing to do with fictional aquarium shit.
Its not a rethorical question, its just a retarded one as the situation isnt even similar.

Honestly seeing how you act im this topic is pretty cringe. Where did yuri hurt you?

Oh, you start to droping insults and bait to me. How pathetic. And yes, if you read more than just yuri manga, then you would know that the Japanese in general love going to the aquarium. For example, in straight shoujo 3D Kanoujo, a date in an aquarium is also the beginning of a relationship for the characters. There is nothing unusual or especially yuri-ish about it.

It most likely will be with all the scenes hinting it (bird symbolizing Takina flying towards the tower symbolizing Chisato), and this episode brought us more Takina wanting to get closer to Chisato, with some people of course doing the perfect representation of the meme „Historians say that they were just friends”.

Right now it’s still yuri bait with probable innocent love interest from Takina. Chisato ain’t seeing this relation as romantic, but with the story progressing we might see some changes.

Do people want to be closer to each other? Of course they are lesbians! The problem of getting close to each other or saving someone from a shell cannot have any other context than a romantic one. And yes, don't confuse yuri bait with yuri subtext. What you mentioned is not bait, it's subtext. And yes, the meme about historians has simply lost any meaning now, because historians are more likely to see a gay character in the relationship of any friends, it is because of this that such a term as romantic friendship appeared.

You will be surprised, but judging by the answers above, people believe that any show is romance by default, so if the characters do not have men, then they become lesbians by default.

Well, given the nature of the show and the show's writer's background, I think the chances are at least 30-40%.

I just checked and wow. Honestly its pitiful. I don't think anyone who has ever interacted with other people irl would come to such illogical conclusions. Its giving the show a wrong reputation that drove some people off who would've otherwise enjoyed it

In fact, the chance that it will be yuri is not so small if you trust my experience and knowledge. But the fact that people pass off wishful thinking with nothing but vague material is still pretty sweet.

@ateks Man, take a look at this. Here the dude is completely un-ironic trying to state that the main couple in ToraDora was not completely obvious from the very beginning.

It was more than obvious, I mean they are literally finish each other sentences talking about love in the very first minute of the anime, how much more hints do you need? Also yes it's yuri bait but it won't work out because one of them is actually a cyborg (I don't actually know it's just my theory lol).

Its just her heart. She still blushes and eats food.

I doubt she's full on cyborg and even if that was the case, are you saying cyborgs can't be straight or gay? That makes no sense Benis. She has an artificial heart and is a normal girl despite that outside of her having ninja like reflexes of course.

man, have people here never seen girl friendship in real life? Especially for extroverted girls, they are much more intimate than this anime lol. They often hug each other, sleep on their friend's lap, call each other with "beb/baby", say things like "Love ya beb" easily, did you call those extroverted girls gay? This is very different from friendship between guys where if you did the same thing here you would find your friend looking disgusted unless they were gay. Is this a cultural difference? I honestly don't understand

Um, you're confusing flowers. lycoris has a completely different meaning in Japanese culture, namely tragic death and sadness.

This is the question. People in the West literally sexualize any intimacy between people, looking for some kind of double connotation in this. But you can point it out because they will accuse you of supposedly wrongful accusations lol.

Both Chisato and Takina (especially her) are NOT interested in romantic relationships.

When people talked about yuri bait, I literally expected it to be something very fanservice and teasing. But hell, in all the five episodes that came out, they literally got 2-3 scenes that could be interpreted as baiting and it never went beyond simple idealized friendship. This show even fir fir crosses the border of female nakama power from shoujo. Even the relatively innocent Aquatope was more ambiguous than this show lol.

Of course, things may still change in future episodes, but at the moment it's not even a shoujo level, let alone a male-focused all-female show.

Did you know? Fuku and Sakura seem to have been designed to perform roles which might otherwise have been filled by male characters. Hence their unfeminine appearance as shown in this art

the intention to completely exclude male characters representation in the story is clear, except for few adults and villains.
maybe it is not likely that we will have a yuri ending, but in no way will there be a straight ending.

As one user pointed out, it is yuri bait indeed. Unrelated: but I don't mind if it is or not since the animation and story are fire!! great pacing, no dull moments, and my childhood anime phase is rekindled where I won't notice the time passing by and just binge. I missed this since nowadays I quickly get tired of anime, although I really love the medium! I wish for more anime with great effort put into it, like this.

You say that as if you saw an all-female show for the first time. And they weren't designed to "replace male characters", they're typical contrasting main character rivals. If it was an all-male show they would be arrogant bishonens. Male characters are more than just a male haircut or a male image in an illustration.

Also, I love how people describe the show's lack of real romance as "no straight ending", trying to make it sound like something gay at least like that.

Only studio knows but it is likely that this end up being yuri instead yuri bait:

Also from Reddit:

That doesn't mean anything. They don't know more than we watchers know. But some sites tend to use some tags more liberally than others.

No, it's not yuri. This is why I can't stand people these days. The moment they see 2 boys or girls together, they immediately assume those 2 have romantic feelings for each other, and the assumption of yaoi/yuri takes over their not-so-spacious head. Can't a nice, pure, and unpretentious friendship between 2 people of the same gender be appreciated anymore nowadays?

Put this on Twitter and you'll see what type of people these guys are.

I would rather have a show that properly dives into the nitty and gritty of Yuri love than just surface-level bullshit. Like others have said, Yuri bait doesn't contribute anything meaningful other than satisfying a group of shippers and obsession from these hive-like-minded people.

I like how 2 women leads being friends with each other has to be a 'yuri anime' for some people or be thought of as yuri-bait. Women can just be friends with each other in a series like this or Sound! Euphonium which also had this kind of thing happen. Like how a show with 2 male leads being friends don't have to be a yaoi (unless the series is actually trying to be one, same goes for the yuri thing).

Not really a fan of the show myself nor the characters (particularly Chisato) but people gotta chill with this kind of shipping thing lol.

Not inherently. Sound Euphonium already proved that.
Then again, who knows for sure. But I sure as hell find it funny how having two female leads in any TV series immediately implies homosexual relationship for everyone watching.

If anything, they’re just really good friends at least. I ship them not because of romance, but because they make each other better characters.

Well, LilyBell bell actually made an appearance this episode and their Field Commander got quite a lot of exposition.
It is obvious, that he will be a recurring character in potential sequel.
A teenage male joining the cast could potentially kill off any future yuri.
