I usually watch the first episode, if it's good, I'll continue watching it until the end. If not, I'll not even add it to my list.

if you want to finish it , no problem , it's you wasting your time , I don't watch Anime I don't enjoy , but that's my opinion .

You could do a lot of productive (and unproductive) things instead of watching sth you won't enjoy .

Yeah because then you can say they're bad without some using the "You didn't watch/finish it!" arguement.

I guess it is okay, but I don't see why would anyone waste their time on an anime they don't like when they can switch to something they do like.

I respect your opinion as long as you respect mine.

i know your struggle. on one hand, i want to give a story time to develop, sometimes the ending makes the anime far better in retrospect and you have to know the ugly to truely appreciate the beauty. and sometimes it's so horrible, it's entertaining and fun to bash with a bat. on the other hand, i freaking hate wasting my time with trash.

If you have your own reasons for watching it, then so be it. Just remember that you don't live forever and life is shorter than you think. So use all that time however you see fit.

Unless you're an anime critic who is getting paid to review anime then I could never understand why you'd want to waste time watching something you don't enjoy. Even if you have an endless amount of free time or just want to watch more anime to increase your completed list you can drop these terrible series and watch something good instead.

Anime is there so that you can enjoy yourself on your free time. That being said, it really depends. Sometimes a friend might watch a show and I might watch the whole thing just so that I can discuss it with them, even though I didn't enjoy the show.

So ultimately, just like most other others, it is probably okay with the right reasons.

(obviously there are somethings that are not acceptable independent of reasons, but that is besides the point).

You should complete them.
You know the saying that the war is not over until someone wins.

That means you should have hopes until end, who knows you may be able to enjoy it's ending.

My criteria for this is usually...
1. If they actually leave a bland episode midway but returned at the final episode = I'll finish it, but usually will have a bad score rating ...

2. Underestimating the story, I personally don't like Polygon's Ajin due to it's CG like animation ... but the story is very good I'd recommend it but not to a new person mostly my wife recommended Ajin to me and I enjoyed it as well ... = I'll finish it :)

3. If it's bad like no story progression within 3 episodes = dropped :D

so mostly i never judge an anime by it's art usually, mostly it's the story :)
and i get bragging rights for having more completed anime :D

Be patient.....there are some episodes in a show that sucked in-between

But if you feel that it is enough, then drop it

If you can finish it and you want to finish it, do it. It will give your perspective, thats always good. It will also help apreciating the actual good shows.

If you consider giving it a second chance then put it in On-Hold, if it has nothing to interest you, then Drop it. Also, keep the number of Currently Watching and PTW to minimum. Next, try to increase your On-hold and Dropped anime number close to Completed. As a result, you will get a Romanian Flag...(if you are not a mal supporter)(or if supporter, then any other flag, if you customize the setting...)

It's fine, there isn't one universal community set of rules and regulations in how you must watch anime. Any one who says otherwise can go fornicate themselves with a Peruvian Torch
We wanted to see if you had the ability to expand your mind and your horizons. And for one brief moment, you did. For that one fraction of a second, you were open to options you had never considered. *That* is the exploration that awaits you. Yes you can. In my experience, if I don't like certain series, I will wait it till end of the episode and watch it marathon. If I find it boring, I just fast foward it . I remember that 23min episodeI finished it only 5 minutes

Think of it this way.

Although the specific anime might not be that great to watch it's certainly better than having to spend the rest of your life knowing you never completed that anime.

But really, it doesn't matter? As a completetionist I can't stand to drop something. Also, one can never know how 'bad' or 'good' something was unless you saw it in it's whole? Personal opinion though. As said by others, it's up to you if you want to put any more of your time in it or not.

Sometimes I'm in the mood for crappy harem anime where I can just, "turn off my brain" because I feel a little stressful, even if I don't really enjoy the anime.

What I can't believe, is that you don't enjoy King's Game. It's so bad it's amazing.

It's fine.

For some reason this airing season, I haven't dropped a single anime.. and I'm watching about 30. It's unusual because I had no problem dropping anime the past seasons.

depends really how bad it gets. For anime with very short seasons, 2 bad episodes which makes me unable to continue is an instant drop. However longer anime have periods where they definitely are doing worse. That's not instant drop. Usually these anime are able to pick up the pace.

Gintama was the best example for this. Gintama fans only know why they watch the anime. it takes a while to get to enjoy the anime.

sometimes they get better, but not always.. if the story or characters dont captivate you, they probably never will, even with a twist at the end,

BUT.. you can keep watching just to see if they all die in the end, like they should

i usually would rather waste my free time on something that actually keeps me entertained but in some cases, the anime that i enjoy watching suddenly becomes dull and boring halfway through so i have no choice but to finish it because if i didn't the previous episodes that i watched from it would be pointless

depends on why you continue to watch. for example I disliked rosario vampire for lack of story but I ended up completing it for fap material. that didn't feel like a waste of time, on the other hand if the vampire wasn't attractive I'd no doubt dropped that show ten minutes into ep 1 because there would be nothing worth coming back to.

In short prioritize what is important to you at the time you wish to view stuff.

Honestly, it depends on personal preference. If I felt that I wasn't enjoying an anime, I would likely drop it if it's a long one. If it's a shorter anime, I would give it a chance for a few more episodes to see if my opinion changes.
