The real question here is "Is my age fitting for my actions?" =))

How do you mean? This kind of questioning is getting in to an incredibly complex realm. Some young people act far more mature than their peers, while some older people never "grow up" and of course there are just plenty of things that simply can't be related to age, yet some people may attempt to do so. I think you'd have to create a strict set of definitions of what actions are suited to what agegroups, and even then, the rules would be pretty much impossible to quantify since age is rather irrelevant to pretty much everything anyway.

When I was about to turn 18 I was pretty unhappy about becoming an adult.
But, I got over it.

I'm still as childish as I ever was.

Not really. I've always felt like an old person, complaining about kids today even though they're the same age as me. I've always wanted to grow up. Although people do think I'm younger than I actually am.

Old joke: Who could possibly be okay with becoming an old, wrinkled 80-year-old?

By the way, it is not uncommon to feel this way at your age, and a few of the responses in this thread are textbook examples of quarterlife crises. In my mind, a favorable approach is to find a way to grow up (using your experiences to make more mature choices toward becoming a better person) without necessarily growing old (resigning yourself to the [often incorrect] fact that your best years are behind you). Once you can separate those two concepts, you're well on your way to becoming the most awesome senior citizen rolling around the anime conventions in your wheelchair and mercilessly caning young whippersnapper fans ever. :D

I'm scared of becoming 18... But I feel good for my age... I think it's a bit commonplace to feel an overwhelming magnitude of nostalgia around the transition into adulthood.

I'm 20, and wondering what the hell I've been doing all my life.
I can't remember a lot of things, and these days the past is just a haze, and I'm wondering if I'm just kind of floating through life without enjoying it or remembering it.
It's kind of depressing, but then at the same time, I remember that I'm still only 20, and maybe I'll still have a chance to do something other than entertain myself day by day and maybe try to do something more than just simply going through the motions of "living" and actually trying to enjoy the short time I have here.

Actually no. I'm 16 and I wish I were at least three years older, if only to stay away from the highschool crowd. I can't stand teenagers, and I hate people younger than me even more.

fear not! for eighteen is a most wonderful year indeed. albeit, it is also the year you become personally responsible for your law breaking shenanigans, so i'd recommend getting super drunk and moving dirt around with that backhoe a few blocks down at 3AM before you can go to jail for it. but it is fun to be considered an adult, nontheless. i'd say it's pretty argueable if eighteen year olds are REALLY adults though. I think 30+ is real adulthood, to be honest.

And I like my age. I guess. I just wish I was a bit older so I could have better credit and small stuff like that sometimes.

I turn 15 in a few days, and I don't feel depressed. I DO feel irked when I get confused for younger or older though. (I've been called a 10 year old and a 36 year old.)

Pretty much this.
Except I'm 20 and people keep thinking I'm 14-15 years old. =/

This, except mistaken for a 12 year old. >_>

I wish I did more in my teenage years, so I do get a bit depressed sometimes just thinking about it. :/

I'm 14 and hate it. I can't wait to get out of school and finally be free from the limitations that come with being a minor. Well, I won't be a teenager for the rest of my life, so I try to enjoy these years as much as I can....

I'm recently eighteen, and yes, I do feel depressed about it. I've always had "peter pan syndrome". Most small children thought it would be cool to be older and rushed into acting and looking older because of this, and I never understood it.

Even now I do believe childhood to be maybe the greatest time of life, and I still feel like a child even now. My age keeps getting higher too fast, it seems. If I could materialize into someone that would reflect my inner self, it would be a child.

I don't really get "Depressed", more like I tell myself that if I haven't accomplished anything grand before I hit 30 than I'll kill myself. But its more like a way to keep me determined rather than actual death threat to myself.

I have just turned 18 and it's a step into adulthood here in the U.S., but actually, aging doesn't bother me at all, sure I'll slowly lose physical capabilities that I have when I'm young, but I know I'll always have the same personality and become wiser over time.

I'm ACTUALLY looking forward to having my own kids and grandchildren.

And really... it was so wierd when i realized that im 20... maybe because when i was young i thought ill never grow up, or somthing like that.... i always had this stupid thoughts.
And even now, there is a certain fear i cant explain.
There is a lot of thing i cant understand in this life, and i guess ill never understand them untill i die.

Im sorry for such a heavy topic, i just want to know what do you think, how old are you, but most important for opening this theard is maybe to make me feel a lillte bit better.

I`m 47 and aside from the fact I can only fuck teenage girls in my imagination I`m not really sad about being 47.

I was lucky, I was born at about the most critical moment in human history. I`ve witnessed incredible things not merely read about them in school.

I stand at a critical time in human civilization yet still as mankind gets closer and closer to discovering if climate change is real or a crock. And I`m old enough, wise enough and educated enough to be able to see the bull or the truth in a lot of it.

I can sit here and state with a matter of fact expression that there is no god, and I have the needed science to prove it. And that same science can show me how totally awesome the real world is all the same. Try looking at what Hubble has shown us sometime.

I`m happy to be me, and I`m happy to be old enough to be able to afford all of the cool things because I`m not a cash strapped teen.
While not technically anime, currently I am a big fan of Hatsune Miku.
At least I can go see her in concert.

I'm not depressed about my age, although being 18 certainly doesn't help when I am depressed. When I was younger and I got depressed I would just play some video games, watch some anime and in time it would go away. Now when I'm depressed, I start smoking and drink heavily in my free time :(

So I'm not depressed about my age, but it has had an affect on how I deal with depression!

depression from age? i don't believe in that to be honest. usually if someone feels depressed because of their age it's actually because they are depressed in choices they have made, not living a fulfilling life, or just some other actions taken on by them or brought upon them.

age is but a number, this remains true. age is just a notch in the totem pole used to signify ongoing maturity?

but me? i'm 19, haven't been depressed yet over that, lol.

sorry for the long answer; i like to think through things.

I'm 15, and i have a hard time differentiating whether or not my opinions are because i'm 15, or if they're logical conclusions. It's rather troubling, not knowing whether or not your own thoughts are right, or if your body is just at war with you.

When I turned thirty I was feeling really sad about it.
I couldn't believe it!! Me thirty, Good lord take me now!! LOL XD
but it was just a number because I have always acted younger than my age.
Even now people that know me can't believe I am on my 30 because I act young and
I don't look older eiher.

Topic title should be "Do you ever feel depressed regarding your age?"

Using felt (past tense) doesn't fit. If you were going to use the past tense, you would have to chance the title to "Have you ever felt depressed regarding your age?", which in my opinion should be the actual title of the thread.

To post on topic, no, I don't ever feel depressed because of my age. I'm fairly young - as is the rest of MAL, why would we feel depressed?

It could be that one of us have felt depressed with one specific age but "grew over" it.

For example, being 11 was frustrating. It's that kind of age that does not taste like anything.

I can definitely identify with the OP a little bit. I'm 21 and I'm watching my life go by as I sit on the computer and watch anime. I have an older friend who just turned 30, scary. I'm especially worried about those around me (family, parents) dying and what will happen in my life then. Does anyone else have the fear of watching die those around them that are older? Plus, I just found out my dad might have cancer. Don't know yet.

Sorry for the "sob story". Despite all this, I'm not really depressed ... yet.

Why would you feel depressed about your age???? I mean everyone knows age is a principle of life, therefore it cannot be stopped. Remember time progresses forward, there is no going back. I'm 17 near enough 18, and if anything I could not be getting any happier with my age.

I bet the only reason one can be depressed about their age, is that they have not done what is expected of them at that certain age. For example you are 24, leaving university presumably, therefore getting a job. Some people have not done that, therefore depression is a way of their life.

I haven't felt depressed for any age I was at whatever particular age.

I just have one regret though, not looking for info about college earlier. My guidance counselor from earlier, whenever he talked about it with us, made it seem like you could get it done in minutes...

I'm 17 and once all the college stuff is over and done with, I'll feel accomplished. :)
