| They can be if used at the absolutely perfect times, but for the most part is just displays a lack of originality or thought. Admittedly I use them from time to time but there's some people who literally live off of them. I've noticed that the internet culture in general is a shameful one that empower the cowardice of the anonymous (4chan) and panders to the lowest common denominator in society. Other examples are the term "troll" and how overused it is. Or when people quote someone else and just leave a "+1" or "this" without contributing to the discussion.
