This was another really good entry to the Precure franchise; it's pretty crazy how similar yet different each season is, and I feel pretty lucky to have watched three seasons in a row that I either ended up liking or loving. The more calm, SOL-ish atmosphere of the series made for a very pleasant watch, and while it kinda lacked the "punch" or explosive energy that you'll find in my favorite seasons (Smile and Heartcatch), the very solid character writing and the very likeable main cast largely made up for it. Fresh also introduced me to two of my favorite Cures to date, especially Setsuna, who turned out to be an extremely touching character with perhaps the most interesting backstory and character arc I've seen in a Precure yet. Now on to... I dunno. Maybe Futari Wa? Or Dokidoki! if I feel like hurting myself. :thinking: As a quick aside on Fresh's final arc, I liked how Wester and Soular were still able to summon "monsters" after they were purified, good ones called Hohoemina. Although the whole ending was pretty novel, I thought that was a really neat idea. I find it kinda interesting that you describe Smile as having "explosive energy" since I usually see it described as one of the more SOL-oriented seasons. Hmm. As for Futari wa Precure, my stance on it is mostly the same as it was before. It's nice and enjoyable overall, but not particularly impressive in any way aside from a well directed episode here and there. If I'm fair it will probably end up being the weakest standalone mahou shoujo season I've watched (barely edging out Sailor Moon SuperS overall), which again isn't to say I'm not genrally enjoying it, but should put your expectations in perspective I think. For a little more context, the villains as a group didn't feel very interesting for the first half of the series (might be changing now, too early to predict) and although the main duo is fleshed out pretty well, it doesn't really feel like the show is using said duo to their full potential... To reword, the overall plotline lacks interest, so whether you like the show or not will likely come down to whether you like the general charm of the individual episodes. About my description of Smile, I guess you have to experience it for yourself to see where I'm getting at but I don't think SOL or SOL-oriented and high energy are necessarily mutually exclusive, especially in this particular case. While it's true that a lot of time is spent on the girls bonding or doing random stuff together, the group just has the kind of chemistry that "explodes" on screen to me, for lack of a better word. I mean, like I said, you should just go and see for yourself. x) Thanks for your little breakdown of Futari Wa. After corwin's recommandation, I think I'll try and simulwatch Suite Precure with silverwalls after all. Futari Wa isn't going anywhere, anyway; I'll get to it eventually. |

| And done. Felt a bit rushed towards the end, and the epilogue was way too short (if I'd even call that an epilogue...). But hey, I'm sure I'll get a more conclusive ending when I play the games, an experience I am very much looking forward to now. Had tons of fun either way, 10/10 for both seasons. |
