I enjoyed this EP, much of the elements I wanted to see animated from the LN is there at least, and I already expected what's about to happen in this EP and It was spot on. however the battle between Oberon and Kirito is surely lacking both on LN and in Anime, It may not be the cliched Hero-fights-the-OP-boss-and-wins-epic-victory but the way kirito kicked Oberon's butt suggest that SAO directors are doing this to pull the best fanservice they could give. heck Kawahara sure loves NTR, we saw this being pulled on AW back with Noumi arc

On a side note... why the fuck did Kirito care more about the Grand Quest being a lie than saving Asuna?

Did he? It looks like all he did was mention it, nothing else. Not like he tried to send a ticket to Sugou.

Haha, true, but i thought he'd be more eager trying to save Asuna.

I was hoping Kirito would've took the sword, shoved it in the guy's eye and swirled it around a bit. Get it in there real good. But instead, he gave him the gun to the head treatment. C'MON KIRITO, you could've at least let him squirm around a bit limbless.

The murderer kills the molester trying to molest the teen parent and while the teen parent is in shock, the incest driven loner takes advantage of that and has hot steaming rice for lunch.

Great Episode. Asuma finally logs out, That piece of ..... whatever is name gets brutally killed, in-game albeit, but still any character that attempts rape deserves a cruel fate ( Like the Fatty in Btooom!). And that kiss on Yui's cheek was cute. But the animation in some parts were eh...... Still, a great show.

Side-Note: So you hate the show, so you could, you know, not watch it, but thats a stupid idea. All masochists here. I hate this show, but I must keep watching.

Out of curiosity, was anyone else bothered by the element of 'pain' that was brought into this episode? This episode pretty much tells us that there is pain in the game, even though everyone's constantly saying "there is no pain felt when damaged". So has this "there is no pain" that Kirito mentioned like in the very first or second episode been completely false?

Well nerve gear controls your brain so I don't see it being impossible to have it so you feel actual pain so no it doesn't really bother me. Nerve gear is very dangerous to say the least. I mean GMs have the ability manipulate the nerve gear so you can die upon death in game and even to manipulate your emotions/ thoughts.

Man this episode could have been a lot better
The ending with the chains and the rape and the "fighting" was just weird
Pain level? What's up with that?
And it bugs me how in the beginning the anime had good action with assassinations and finding out mysteries and sword fighting, but now it's been reduced to talking and talking with some okay battles and action
And the romance in the first part was better too. They loved each other and showed each other it in funny and adorable ways, but now it's just bleh...
And why the heck didn't Asuna run right to Kirito right after she cried when she saw them
Her standing there waiting for him was just dumb
When she was locked up she was all about Kirito and didn't say anything about Yui
And Kirito wtf. Being all mad about lying to people when he should have ran to Asuna right away. And after he logged her out he should have logged out and went straight to the hospital instead of just waking up and sitting there with Suguha there
And the episode should have just ended like it did with the exception of after or during the credits, Kirito and Asuna see each other in real life and hug and then fin
There shouldn't be another episode :/
I thought this anime would be the next Angel Beats for me but it started going downhill when they finished the first game. If anything, the ending should have ended when they finished the first game and saw each other then :(
Sorry long rant. I just had high expectations for this anime but it failed :(

Being impossible or not wasn't the question though, what I'm asking is if this 'no pain' change was programming changes from SAO to ALO or did Kirito's mention of "No pain when damaged." during the first few episodes of SAO to be completely false?

The switch for pain or no pain is probably programmed in the game from the very beginning so i would say the former.

Man Kirito should have kept calm though Sugou was just giving Asuna love pecks no big deal. Like take a chill pill.

Anyways took forever to download this, but anyways I guess I was expecting a lot more since it's concluding this arc. Sugou being the final villain was a let down I guess what I expected was for him to actually put up a fight and his grand scale idea was pretty stupid to me ....it felt extremely easy it wasn't a matter of Kirito being OP this time it was the villein being UP. (lol underpowered)
It might have been more engaging in the LN though

Can not wait for episode 25, I know what's going to happen, I just want to "see" it being wrapped up, words can only take you so far.

I'm hoping they will say a 2nd season will come out next year, there's certainly enough material for it because why build up the Laughing Coffin crew but then again it has following the light novel series very closely and well might I add.

There was pain the entire time.. There was no pain in episode one but if you remember Kirito felt it when he cut his hand in real life, and thats why fighting in towns was bad because it hurt.

More or less ^

I dont deny I had some rather large disappointments with some of the adaption but overall ive enjoyed it for what it is despite all the changes [the LN is the LN and the Anime is the Anime ] - ah and I still contend t he series really (LN and Anime wise) should be able to just be ended here -

Then I noticed this isn't the last episode. At least SAO is ending well, they skipped a lot of parts but, the conclusion I wanna see will be animated.

I say there is a big chance for a second season. The sales are going well and SAO is popular both to the fans and haters. But for me, as a fan, do not find a season two very pleasing because of the bad adaptation. Though I wanna see Sinon animated badly!

EPISODE SUMMARY

1. Yui grows up for no reason.
2. It takes morning til dawn to fly up to a birdcage Kirito spotted.
3. Save the fanfare for later... but wait no, we have to go through the cliches and wait for the bad guy to show up, and then pretend to be shocked.
4. Predictably, Suguo's one of those retarded villains that mixes business with pleasure, preferring some exhibitionist masochist sex episode to finishing off Kirito and controlling people, basically throwing years of work away for 2 minutes of pleasure. Is it even possible to take these villains seriously when they're such jokes?
5. Kirito remembers Heathcliff's login ID and password that he never had.
6. Kirito turns pain to 0 for everyone. I wonder if it affects people in the rest of the game.
7. Yui saves herself again to local memory. By the way, Alfheim Online must have the worst system security of any game since Diablo 1 if it allows users to upload whatever local program onto the server with admin-level access.
8. Kirito tries to act cool by telling Asuna it will all be over, and then haves fun torturing LV1 Suguo...
9. Apparently every game played on the NerveGear is completely compatible with every other game. Imagine importing that awsome LV5000 sword you got on Disgaea 4 PS3 to Dark Souls PS3. Yep, that's how NerveGear works...

Yeah, I know... Somehow the light novel explains all of this like cake, flawlessly like a literary masterpiece -- but it's a literary masterpiece I'm not interested in reading; nor will I ever be interested in reading Twilight no matter how much people rave about it, and I wholly judge it based on my experience with the first movie.

So you can access the whole system by just saying "System Log-in. ID: Heathcliff"?
Well, only Kirito knew that ALO was a copy of SAO's servers because of Yui.
You can log into someone else's ID without a password or confirmation? @_@
Or maybe Kayaba gave him the right to access his ID through the system.

haaa so we finally get to this point of the show...

Gah! Fuckin Sugou pissed me off! The whole Asuna torture thing was a lot worse than I remember it being, it made me just that more pissed off at at him. Had my fist clenched the entire time so much so it still hurts a little right now.. haha

Still, the execution of this episode was pretty good although some of the camera angles on Sugou were a little weird trying to get too much drama out of them. Emotion wise this episode played them pretty well, everyone came off as believable and allowed you to empathize.

With the kiss on the cheek to Yui and the resolution-ish for Sugu this episode wrapped up nicely though like someone said earlier it would have been better to build up to the next ep to have Kirito end up at the hospital

He got the seed which will build up for the next episode and possibly season, hopefully!

ahah~ this was an episode I loved to hate so until next week cant wait for next week's SAO~~~!!!

I wonder why he dont give up on teenager content and focus in adult one and name it "Tentacle Hentai Online" it would be way more interesting in my honest opinion ^o^ since sao is practically a kid rampaging trough mmo while girls gets almost raped all the time. No plot twist, no originality, rape services everywhere I never saw such a foreseeable anime like sao. If a 2nd season is aired I won't be watching it, I'm not able to enjoy sao anymore. Chuunibyou is by far the best anime of this season or of this year also.
Edit: Rape my girl Online would be a nice choice too.

Actually, in the novel, Kirito whispered a password when he logged in Heathcliff's ID. Though they didn't reveal what is that password.

Okay what the hell 30 pages that quickly?

I'm impressed though, I think A-1 did quite well here, oh and it took Kirito and Yui from day to sunset to reach Asuna's cage which I found humorous.

I still found the 'I'm gonna violently kill you with pain absorption level 0' scene extreme but that's just my preference.

This conclusion was fitting and I'll leave my final thoughts for this show on next ep's discussion. Far from exceptional but definitely enjoyable at times.
