#PoolScene

A noob pilot flying in this type of event? Nah.

This arc isn't as complex/long con-y as the first.

Welcome tot he live action remake of GTA - This anime has become a joke, i pretty much am starting to hate it for its senseless plot thats going no where, and endless twists that aren't really that impressive to begin with but they want you to think they are... .. ... ... ..

“Don’t misunderstand, I’m not sexist against women” proceeds to say they don’t belong in an air race and should stay in the kitchen.

Abby’s such a badass. So she obviously has a PTSD for whatever war she was in the past. And that reason for joining a con artists kind of amazed me though it’s sad

Kudos to this anime. It's not often where I can actually FEEL the tenseness of an animation in my bones. Maybe I've been watching too much shounen. But with peak animation like this, and unique stakes like this that aren't common in anime, I actually felt the vigor and intensity of the scenario -- I could FEEL the movement of the planes, how fast they were going, how close they were to each other, how hard Abby pressed on the gas or pulled on the lever or however you operate a plane. Her sickness was well demonstrated too, with the sweat, vomit, and dull stare... I don't get motion sickness from roller coasters or fast-moving vehicles, but somehow Abby's nausea was transcribed into my brain. Of course, a lot of it had to do with psychological trauma too. And I'm such a stickler when it comes to flashbacks in anime, but these quick flashes of Abby's past throughout the episodes have been executed very well.

I must say, this arc has a surprisingly different tone. Not as full as twists, turns, or surprises just yet. Before, the protagonist was clueless about the situation he'd gotten himself into, and there was emanate danger at every turn. Getting in cahoots with the mafioso and wagering high sums of money illegally. A lot of the unease from the last arc isn't really present in this one so far, since the protagonist is now very self-aware of everything that goes on. However, I think I've sorta figured things out. The Eda-guy is no longer the center of the show... this second arc focuses on Abby. And I'm guessing the third or fourth or fifth arc will focus on the French guy. And they'll switch up the focal point for each arc, essentially creating new protagonists and viewpoints.

But again, I'm just here to comment about the spectacular final scene of this episode. The race between Abby and the person that was supposedly supposed to let her win. It was nerve-wracking when her plane's wing almost dipped underwater... any further and she would've been screwed.
But again, I'm unsatisfied that this arc deals with actual plane-flying skill/talent as opposed to psychological wit and conning. Even if there's a con in the grand scheme of things, it seems like we're more-so watching a grander version of the underground boxing ring... that is, a scripted race. But I'm not too intrigued by the fact that this arc may depend on physical and coordination skill... and yet, the setting of each scene is always eye candy.

Side note, I like how much the antagonist of this arc differs from the last one. Younger, different ethnicity, different traits. Sam's brother Clark may or may not be an antagonist -- I'm not too sure -- but despite somewhat objectifying women, he seems like a generally nice guy, and is clearly humble too. Sure, he contributes to the bribing of others into letting him races... but you can tell he cares about his skill and talent, and views Abby as a genuine rival. Maybe his true intentions have yet to be shown... or maybe he'll turn out to be a cool dude... but I am definitely liking the newer, albeit smaller cast.

Better episode than the previous one in the rewatch. Poor Abigail's seemingly gone through some tough shit back in the day when remembering her parents, even envisioning them too while flying early on in the episode. She was even on the verge of crashing when Sam Ibrahim, one of the brothers that the crew are trying to scam was insulting Cynthia and even Abigail and talking about how women should not be competing here and stay doing housework, but Makoto screaming for Abigail (which she heard through the microphone) helped her wake her up and even finish the race with the victory, since she needs to make the final against Sam's brother, Clark Ibrahim.

Sam was such a contradicting ass in this episode, telling Cynthia that women should do housework and how air racing is a man's sport, but when Abigail wins, tells Cynthia that she's not a misogynist. Big lol moment there from me.

And I continue to love the heart and effort shown by WIT Studio when it comes to appreciating the setting and the little details beyond the case narrative and the cast itself. They did a wonderful job in depicting Singapore with scenic shots while the planes were flying. Even loved seeing Sam's wear be featured in an anime, with him wearing the keffiyeh and the kandora, showing the Middle Eastern background in him nicely.

Plus the races themselves were well animated and the Abigail race at the end was really well done with the building of tension and the adrenaline rush provided after once Abigail woke up from her daydreaming/nightmare phase by Makoto with the help of the microphone as when she the wing of her plane was nearly touching sea, I felt nervous too watching that moment even though it was predictable what would happen after. Great stuff.

Well Abby has a bad background ig.

Finally, an indirect kiss between Laurent and Edamura.

Looks like BANDAI is sponsoring for the jets.

But I am calling BS on the fact that Edamura's shouting is somehow making Abby regain her shit. Complete BS in fact. He's not even wearing microphones when he does so.

I kinda agree with this.

Without change,we end up becoming the very person we hate.

I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was bound to lead me to a slow death.

Despite being pretty naive as drug lord, I found Cassano to be slightly more interesting than these arabic brothers. Something tells me Clark isn't really aware of what his brother is doing tho.

Not gonna lie, I was kinda relieved when Sam didn't fall for Cynthia's thot act at first... but then he ended up falling anyways because somehow Abby managed to win the race against a professional despite going through a PTSD episode.

She won against a veteran? Now that hard to swallow :/
The first arc was good. Looks like besides the main cast everyone is plain idiot.

I I were Sam I would've checked her (red hair girl) background before making a deal with her.

like how did she won. For ones I thought this Sam guy is smart that Abby would lose and they'll have to do some other shit to overcome this. I'm totally disappointed

Laurent & bbt is such a LEWK hahahaha I love Laurent!!!!!

The art of Singapore’s landmarks was so good!! What a visual treat! They were probably inspired by Singapore always hosting the F1 races & changed it to this air race. How cool!!

L O L @ Clark chasing Abbie around in the pool like a fool lolollllll & I wanted to slap that sexist pig when he spoke to Cynthia that way. Laurent was right, I can’t wait for Cynthia to get back at him. He has angered the wrong gal

but i’ll probably remember over and over again
you were there and everyone else was there

Some incel people in the anime community still cringe to insist on the "go to the kitchen" as I can see on some comments. Even if you don't really believe it, it's just tiresome and you're not entertaining anyone. :-)

That said, very good episode and especially the discussion between Sam and Cynthia.

I already thought Sam wouldn't fall for Cynthia's charlatan skills, I can't wait for Laurent and the rest to swindle him especially after his sexist attitude saying things like 'woman belong in the kitchen'. But I guess thats going to be a bit tough seeing Abby is dealing with some PTSD.

"Keep your flabby chest and lack of morals away from me!" xD

I don't really see where this is going tho.
And how come she got to win against an experienced racer with so little experience. I don't understand anything about flying but this ep made it look like anyone could do it and the race just depends on luck.

Haven't been this wowed by an anime's depiction of Singapore since Plastic Memories.

And while it'll probably be scary, I wanna see a pissed off Cynthia be let loose especially on someone like Sam.

Portraying it as if Makoto helped Abigail to snap out of her panic attack was really cheap. Made her victory much less impactful for me.
