| To me it actually doesn't, Rakugo S2 starts out well then really dull in the middle until the final two eps with a satisfying finale to everything but the middle was hard to keep me interested. |

| Hmm. Commie's releases have me a bit spoiled now, but it looks like I may be better off taking a small but unfortunate quality hit this time around since, even with all the optimizations I made to my tablet to make Heartcatch play smoothly, all the high-bitrate goodness with the Go! Princess release is occasionally causing the video to slow and throw the audio out of sync (mostly during the 3DCG), which is still watchable but probably more annoying than said quality hit. Why doesn't Commie release their softsubs independent of their video releases anyway? A lot of other fansubbers do so and Commie's subs are the main draw to their release over Doremi anyway imo. Encode-talk aside I have quite a few first impressions of Go! Princess already. I didn't think the first episode was nearly as strong as Heartcatch's, but the setting is incredibly charming and main characters seem like they will be pretty fun this time around too-- it's much more transparent who all of the Cures will be this time around. As for the monster of the week setup, the dreams concept seems weaker than the heart flower one, but the fight animation is still top notch and looks absolutely gorgeous. I have some minor qualms with the 3DCG in parts of the transformation and finishers, but thankfully all of the fighting is either traditionally animated or masked so well that you can't tell it's 3DCG. My first impression of the mascots aren't as favorable as the girls, but we'll see. I do like the early subplot(?) introduction with Kanata. Based on the introduction alone it will probably be much more interesting than trying to figure out who the mysterious guy in Heartcatch was, which is to say in Heartcatch the eventual reveal was the only interesting thing about the subplot. Or would it be more appropriate to compare his introduction to the introduction of the Great Heart Tree? If that's the case it's too early to compare. All in all it was a slightly rough but overall servicable and enjoyable intro. I'll plan on watching some more tomorrow after sorting out encode issues. |

| Despite the Toei-isms, Tiger Mask W really has been improving. I doubt it'll hit the 8+ range, but seeing the matches gradually get more brutal is a sadistic treat. Also that's twice it tricked me into thinking it'd end soon. |

| Its weird, even though ive been praising ibo's nihilistic and extremely dark turn of events its not really till a few hours after watching the new ep that it kind of catches up to me just how much of a bummer these past 2 weeks were. I liked the past 2 episodes alot while watching them but didnt get much emotional response as past events/deaths but now its kind of hitting. Actually really nervous how the body count next week will be. It really looks like this might go, might actually wind up rivaling victory. |
