I feel the same. I feel thay it doesn't take enough time for each scene. It's unfortunate because the story itself has been really good imo, but a lot of possible emotional scenes didn't get me because things are moving fast and I'm still processing the situations.

This was a great episode imo. I definitely miss his family (and would watch a show or read a manga about them) and this show has gone back and forth with me. But this episode feels like it knocked me back into the enjoying it column and I'm looking forward to the last half of the season more so than I have been after this weeks episode.

Yeah. I hoped for a female char - with the elves. First thought (before he got introduced and only knowing him from OP) that this was a female character lol. :D

Please no! The most awesome thing that this anime has is that it's not an harem. We don't need yet another isekai harem, Saihate no Paladin feels like such a breath of fresh air after all this time.

Alright, Will finally succeeded to release the poor village from the demon control. Its an easy takes. As expected, many people died and some others turned into a nasty being. Menel might be uneasy with those view. But Will with all the lesson and experience from his parents could overcome the situations and brought them to the light of Gracefeel. Menel and Will met Marple, which ofc already turned out as the ghost, to gave them all one last chance of lecture, and an objective.

Surprise how human could hold out their soul into such a form like Marple. But ofc all the question remain unanswered because the person herself already went into the afterlife. Well, at least with all of the fast things goin on, finally, officially, with a pleasure, Will acquired a new fried. Yeah, a believed friend. Good for you, Will. He finally believed.

But too bad, the next is actually a recap, which somehow giving me a little bad taste on my mouth. Alright, then....

This show feels like it could have been a lot better, it had potential, but it was ruined by lackluster production. The emotional moments don't land well even though the built up is genuine, seems like a sign of shitty direction.

Good episode, but I feel like the show could have been a whole lot better. The presentation just feels kind of bland. The story is good, but the visuals and I guess voice acting too does not do it justice.

"You do have a pretty face." Ey yo Will, I mean that's true, but that ain't the right time to say that lmao. Will should take a look at a mirror though.

Contrary to a lot of opinions here, I don't think the problem is the voice acting. I like Will's voice actually and the overall voice acting is fine.

The big problem here is the animation, it feels off in a lot of times. That added to the overall fast pace and poor direction makes the emotional scenes kinda empty. I love the character design, though. And as I said, I like the voice acting and the story is really good, so even though the animation is weird, this anime is still pretty good.

An interesting fact are Will's inner dialogues. Like how he almost apologized because of his habits from previous life, or like when he mentions how hard must be for Menel to have a long life spam and see all his dearest people die while he is still young and will probably live for some hundred years. I feel like this side of races like Elf are not mentioned pretty often in anime. At least not the ones I usually watch.

Will is cute and voice by a woman, Menel is pretty to the point a lot of people thought he was a girl. I see what they are doing here and I honestly don't dislike it. Might even ship depending on how they develop.

What I like about this show, is that even though our main character is extremely strong, is not that he just got teleported to another world, got super powers out of nowhere and no one can match him.

We had some episodes of build up to show his growth and why he is so strong now. People may say that an entire cour should be right way to go if they wanted to really develop him, but considering the cost to make the anime longer, asking for that would be the same as asking for an even weaker animation.

Was starting to get hyped only to know next episode is a recap. Sad.

I also felt that it was rushed. Menel just sort of jumped into his breakdown with his grandma so fast, it felt like they cut out much of the build-up. His shift in personality and opinion on Will seemed to come way too quick. I don't know if this was something from the source material, or the show is trying to fit in too much within 12 episodes, but I couldn't get invested because things just happened so quickly and we didn't get time to process it.

To be honest, I'm considering dropping the show. I like the story, I like the characters, I love the lore. But the execution's been pretty meh, and I want to make room in my schedule for more satisfying shows.

Will doesn't have good eyes.
The best thing about Menel is not his face, but dem thicc thighs.

So far, this anime has been valuing life and death, literally, with a Goddess. Many themes that are supposed to be subtle are presented right on the face instead, somehow making everything lukewarm. There's this freshness compared to the average isekai, but dullness at the same time as a fantasy. Hopefully this is not the best the show has to offer.

The pacing is really killing any emotional impact these events could have had: Menel's 180 on Will came way too quick, then his breakdown with Marple came about way too quick and she left way too easily. The subtlety in these scenes, and the general "tell, don't show" nature of this episode was a big disappointment. It also doesn't help that the story is becoming more generic ever since Will left the ruins.

It's a shame, as I do think this could still work very well with better pacing, but it looks like this is gonna be butchered by only being given a cour when it very clearly needed two for the story it's trying to tell.

I agree that it's better than the goddess just throwing them at him, but now that we're here how different does it really feel? We still have a really nice guy smashing through the setting with overwhelming strength just like many other isekai. The show had a neat mystique with the undead family, but now I'm struggling to keep interest.

I was talking more plot-wise. At least he has a reason to be strong. He practiced/learned for years and got the goddess bless as a final touch.

That said, I agree that doesn't change how things are right now. It is more acceptable at least. I'm still interested in the story, but would lose the interest really quick if next episodes are just him smashing things with no real challenge.

Menel's inclusion in Will's demon extermination expedition does help a lot, even if they can't get along and just for the sake of completing errands.

The overall animation in this episode felt so shallow, if next weekend's recap episode isn't already indicative of obvious production issues. Will is just ploughing through situations on easy mode, and saving an undead with the Blessing of Gracefeel. Meeting up with old Marple in her ghostly self, and Menel's frustration of not being able to save his people was better illustrated in the manga. What a traumatic memory for Will to take care of Menel while old Marple can rest easy and depart in good health.

Another village lost to the demons, and the Beast Woods of Southmark villagers have no choice but to commence a funeral to honour the lost and celebrate what achievements have been done. Menel's backstory of being born in the elven forest, only to be marginalized as an outsider and doing odd adventurer jobs, in betrayal from a comrade and saving grace from Marple. To see a hunter like Menel fall from grace, I can relate to him in some ways, and Will was his saving grace to stop his erratic plans and be loyal through Gracefeel's prayer.

Will has earned his first friend Menel, and it's a man-to-man, heart-to-heart talk.

It's about a paladin and paladins tend to be more on the religious side of things. If it was about a witch then it would be more about black magic or magic in general, if it was about a thief then hands down it would be about stealing and if it was about a knight then chivalry and all the other things about knighthood would be its subject. You get it now?

I'm really happy to see a show that doesn't treat faith/religion as always some evil entity or a punchline for jokes. Not that there isn't room for that, it's just it's not always bad, you know? Not only is it a literary device that's overused, but it's a really ignorant and cynical look at something that is much more complicated, just as anything in life is.
One last thought: what the hell was Will saying when he said bro had a pretty face in response to him talking about having to do unspeakable acts to survive? That at the least deserved a punch to the face, and it seems totally out of character. Was the author on drugs when they wrote that? Like, textbook bad writing. Was the writer trying to show that Will is unaccustomed to being around others? We already saw that, but he still has memories of his past life so that doesn't make sense. I honestly don't get it whatsoever.
At least Menel took it in stride, but wow, way to make the most awkward joke at the most awkward time, and it wasn't even funny to begin with. There's times I come across writing that irritates me or confuses me either in anime or in literature but that one is pretty high up there.
