A bit more boring than the rest but I still thought it was funny. I agree that the sneaking scene and soda slipping were the best parts of the episode.

From what I've known about the show if I was Umaru's brother I would definitely not having this expression when I just came home from a long hard and unsatisfying labour and seeing my "cute" sister who had shown no signs of actually family bond laying down on the floor sleeping when she had made a mess of the apartment,

It's really simply, have her washes the dishes, that's it, but again I have to remind myself the show is either made by someone who has no idea what's like to live with an actually sibling or work in an office, or they just don't care because the target audience of this anime don't care neither. I was hoping having Masahiko Oota to direct the show would at least give it some comedic value, but I guess it's just proven having no expectations is the best way to enjoy anything.

UMR and TSF never disappoint!! Can't help but be reminded of their arcade introduction every time they used those names XD

Ebina's rival has finally appeared!! I'd love to see that stalker senpai more in the future. Hopefully she gets to meet UMR, now that would be a riot XD

Great episode, Sylphyn is also quite cute, and I know very well this reaction of Kirie, and also been shown a bit of Taihei at work, appeared a rival to Ebina, well, the best scene of the episode was the love declaration of the Taihei's friend

This anime has grown enough in my opinion, I started watching out of curiosity of the plot, but is being quite fun, I look forward to continue watching ..

Let’s say you drink too much strawberry milk, and have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. You don’t want to get up, but the urge to urinate is just too strong! You run to the bathroom, stand in front of the toilet, and let loose! You think that all your life has led to this moment! YOU'RE STILL IN BED! That feeling of lukewarm wetness spreads! But you can’t stop! THAT’S THE TRUTH OF THE STRAWBERRY MILK! DO YOU GET IT? ~ Gintoki

Obviously, she's in her chibi form there. Otherwise, she's of an average height and build for a girl her age.
Also, that bed was Taihei's, originally. He's just being courteous of letting her sleep there and he taking the floor, since it's a small apartment.

So looks like one of Taihei's co-workers has the hots for him. She's just hiding all the time. Too bad she has A LOT of work to do if she ever has a chance of coming even remotely close to Ebina.

Actually, the show is quite hilarious. Just because you have a deplorable level of shit taste doesn't mean the show is unfunny. You seem to be the only one complaining.

And this scene was him showing appreciation for him having his sister in his life. Even if she's a shut-in and a slob, she's still family whom he loves and enjoys having her around and seeing her when he gets in the door.

Yeah, because no matter how well elaborated your opinion is, if it's opposite to mine then you have shit taste, end of story.

You think I don't get what that scene is trying to say, don't you? If she is 12 then I'll probably cut her some slack, but she is already 16, she should be helping out with some of the housework, it's not like she doesn't know how busy her brother is all the time trying to put food on the table and what she is doing is plain exploitation both mentally and financially, we have 4 episodes of material to show what a spoiled brat she is, maybe Taihei is one bad mother fucker who can tolerate all these behavior just because Umaru is his little sister, and that's the what a "family's bond" to him, but for a comedy that needs to work by provoking my sympathy for both characters, I can't, I guess I could say I pity Taihei for being a considerate, hardworking and thoughtful brother yet receives little to no respect from Umaru. Even the three trouble makers in Mitsudomoe have some kind of redeemable traits, and they are just grade schooler.

And she's like turned into Umaru's personal maid (although she's fine with that). Last part with "Shisu", I didn't see that coming lol :D

Pfft! I call bullshit on taking the Jump into the baths. The humidity alone would soak into the pages and make them all wrinkled and such. Unless those Jump magazines are all throwaways of course...... First world problems :P

Other than that, this was a good episode. We've all had to compromise with money to get the things we want. It's funny how she ended up going to UNIQLO for clothes though. A true Gamer, she is.

Best way to start the summer: Bumming around at home!

And day dreaming of course....

Playing at the arcades with strangers....

Playing MGS with your siblings... ;)

Shopping with friends.... taking lots of baths... chugging cola....

Seems that onii chan is the target of one of his co workers, i would like to see more of that.
Speaking of which i think the manga showed a but more of his job life been a while since i stopped reading it.
Need to pick it up again.

Also another thing that has to be said, onii chan needs to realise that 10000 yen which is roughly 100 dollar is not enough to buy clothes.

Well elaborated? Your opinion is "oh, I don't find this show funny because a fictional character doesn't do housework".

Why am I not surprised by your response? If you can't even see me criticizing the core appeal of this show, which I have already said is because the main character we are supposed to root for has no appealing quality but the anime plays it like it's the best thing ever, it's a problem far more serious than "characters don't behavior the way I expected them to", then there's no point to continue, I could just as easy to look at your list and say you have shit taste like what you have done to me, but why bother to show signs of intelligence or self-control when you can make yourself feel better by labeling others having "shit taste"? Please don't even take time to response because we both know we have better things to do other than continuing a pointless argument here. At least I do.

Decided to quote this to avoid the arguing.

Yes, Umaru chan in her himouto persona is very bratty towards her brother. However, and I might go a little spoilery here

The anime started showing us the worst characteristic of each character, but as the story progresses, we see more sides of them that explains their strange behaviour and so.

In conclusion, this show won't stay on the himouto gags only, it will progress into something better.

If only someone in the production team realized that they could have started the character development, especially Umaru's right from the first episode; After a whole day of misbehave, have her voluntarily helping onii-chan to carry some of the groceries after the flashback, as a "generous" compensation for what he has done for her or whatever, showing she is not a total self-absorbed and inconsiderate sister, but an annoying yet adorable sister who can be thankful not just with words but also with actions. It's a really simple characterization trick that I thought anyone would have made the changes when they just take a look at Umaru's perfect, even self-gratified character.

Apparently to some learning how to take care of yourself and be independent by taking some minor responsibility is equal to slavery. It's both amusing and sad at the same time.

Eh...well, if I were to explain in detail, we would go deep into the psychological part of the story...and i'm not a psychologist ^__^;

But to put it simple: For unknown reasons, Umaru has a certain kind of image in her high school and she keeps playing it in order to be liked by all, but this makes also her lonely since no many people are really close to her, and by this I mean friends.

Once at home, she can be her real self and feel more relaxed, she actually loves her oniichan because he knows who she really is and still accept her. But then, Umaru wants to spend more time with Taihei, yet he has work and neglects her in the companionship department.

This all I took from the first 2 episodes.

What about the way Umaru tricked onii-chan into entering the contest to win a plushie for her by making him feel guilty for not spending quality time with her in the second episode? To me that's the breaking point, before that I got the idea that Umaru is an attention-seeker in front of her brother, okay I rolled with that, but after that when she exhibited the manipulative side of her coupled with what I've seen before like begging onii-chan to play with video game her on Sunday morning, it's hard not to dismiss any kind of character development is just an afterthought.
