I guess that was too much for animation. Regardless, what an amazing episode, I was waiting for this backstory as it had made me emotional when I first read it. I'm rooting for Muichirou to now proceed to beat Gyokko's a*s, but before that, I'm exited to see Mitsuri in action! Just checked the manga, there's no maggot part at all . Also the whole flashback took less than 1 chapter so yeah UFO slowed down the pacing like usual for this season , that's why it feels longer than it should. The current season of Demon Slayer has slowly turn into One Piece type of adaptation for monetary incentive. There's no reason they need to make ep 1 50 mins and there's no reason they need 11 episodes if the arc is this short. |

Yes, now I more understand Muichiro but I would much more prefer it the other way. Now here we have a very fierce action battle and all in a sudden we are pulled-out from the action and thrown to the past in order to learn more about the character. Wouldn't it be better to make a story the proper way, where we have an introduction - we learn about the characters and their stories, then the plot movest to the core theme - action - it lasts through couple episodes when the plot enters the last part - the closing and then ending. I don't know, maybe I am a simple guy, but I really hate flashbacks I see you are a student of the Disney school of writing. I'm afraid it would not be better. First of all you are using the basic three chapter concept of opening, middle close. This is very much a western writing style. On top of which its based on a single story moment. This story exists in a massively developed world with many characters and plots flowing concurrently through it. Foolish classroom taught best practice simply has no place here. Stop analysing based on western story telling dogma and just enjoy the show. |

| That speech that Yuichirou made after the old man's wife left spoke to me so much. The death of his parents affected him so much and he had to take on so much responsibility. Sigh yet another character that I like and boom death. I kinda expected it but there are other ways to show a character's plight beginnings than having everyone in their family die. |

| The "Mu" in Muichiro means infinity. Nice episode! Stellar animation as ever! What got me was the twin brother cutting the radish and the studio repeated that animation scene to hone tothe point that he's getting madder at Tokito. The silence treatment that these brothers endured against each other...not having to speak with one another...tells us all that their sibling relationship is toxic and unhealthy. |

| easily the best episode so far story and animation wise. Tokitos backstory was animated to perfection and his speed blitz was beautiful |

| Really well done backstory episode. I'm not a fan of Muichirou and I have never been one, but it can't be denied his exposure to the world of demons and demon slayers was tragic and bloody. Poor kid. On a side note, I don't know why such episode had that much good crew behind it. I didn't understand it back when I read that info and I still don't get it after finishing watching the actual episode. It was doable to reach similar level or artism and leave animation aces for later, like for an episode full of action, requiring maximum focus on sakuga sequences. Meanwhile, we got surely very good looking episode, but not without flaws (CGI fish with sharp claws). Mark reveal required good looking moment, but in my opinion the power-up coming with it could have been exposed better in more action centered episode. |
