Well, i kinda expected that he died in the future but i expected he died because of illness. so it kinda suprised me when she said he died because of accident. and obvious the biggest plot twist in this episode is that Kakeru revealed the reason why he absent for two weeks, it was because his mother commit suicide on his opening ceremony. man....i wonder what is the reason.

i think it's getting interesting either on the plot and the character relationship :D
Suwa and Naho have a children in the end a suprised ? nope to me. i saw that coming :D

looking foward for the next episode

Well a good episode and a good show so far but for me even though i like it, i feel like setting this whole sad feels from the start of the show usually ruins the impact later in the show when the actual sad part happens but we will see. It's a typical high school romance with some supernatural elements with our main female character being a timid cute want to be a housewife girl when you think about it is very similar with clannad just that the actual tragedy is told more through the female perspective then the male perspective makes sense since Orange is a shoujo also both shows have future changing elements (i don't want to spoil clannad to people who haven't watch it so i won't say what they are in that show) , both show have a mix of comedy and drama, both have comic relief characters and the list goes on but we will see maybe Orange will surprise me (NO SPOILERS FROM MANGA READERS) but so far feels very similar to other feels romantic cute shows but still good and endearing to watch :)

So coincidentally enough, I was just watching a video today about how HanaKana always voices people with odd bangs. Well, I look at the seiyuu list and IT'S TRUE! I knew I recognized her voice :P Anyway, so some good revelations: Kakeru's mother's suicide, and he dies in that year! Bam! So that made me like it quite a bit more than the first. The art though ... it got quite a bit worse :( Lazy? Or just sloppy? Well anyway, so he sort of joins the soccer club and Naho DOES make him lunch and gives it to him. Interesting to see what Naho does with the information she's given, especially when she has that "regret" moment about not following the letter's instructions. It will be interesting to see what happens to the future Naho as well. I'm guessing that if her future DOES change, it'll be an alternate timeline sort of thing. Then again, this is why those nasty time paradoxes exist ... :P

Kakeru's reactions when he got the bento was nice, beautiful episode. I like how it seems realistic. It should be an interesting anime of the season.

I'm loving this anime! I don't usually go for sci-fi kinds of shows but I really like Orange - I think because it has a good combo of refreshing relationships and a unique plot line. The art style of the show is beautiful too and since I haven't read the manga I'm really hooked!! Can't wait for the next episode :~)

PS - Can anyone tell me what day Orange airs each week? Just so I have an idea of when I'll be able to find it online.

Probably dropped if this won't get any better in 2 or 3 episodes..

- Animation Quality from EP1 to EP 2 looks degrading for abit.
- Voice is barely hearable, BGM is too loud (same shit happened to Arslan Senki S2's recent episode)
- Naho's personality as a MC, too plain it's pissing me off IMO.

Vital logic aspect, my questions in mind. I haven't read the manga, so tell me if these will be explained later on so it will make sense, is that a 'yes' or 'no' guys.

- Why doesn't The future Naho write those messages as detail as possible like for instance, "Seriously just do it" instead of "His mother was gonna commit suicide in that day", etc.
- Why doesn't Naho read all of the messages at once or skipping messages until an event when Kakeru is close to dying, because it's now revealed that the whole point of that message is to save Kakeru in the future.
- Since the purpose of the letter is to save Kakeru, why The future Naho bothers in giving advices which are not related to the main objection at all, like for example: You must accept the offer to be a batter that day.

OSTs, pacing, and direction (those angle shots though!) are excellent it's kind of waste if I don't watch it til the end. But I actually don't wanna drop this anime so please save me (to manga readers, by PM or something).

I don't get it...is she thinking and reliving her past so that there would be no regrets?
I think she's deluding her self to the past...

Really enjoyed this episode after some soul searching and conflicts with mainly just the art style in the last episode. I really took into account how unique the animation is when I watched this episode and how the dark sort of realistic color tones really show a uniqueness compared to most other shoujo and slice of life that are very light and sparkly. Which I think shows the amount of consideration the studio and director took considering the darker subject matter Orange centers around.

The best part of episode 2 was the development we got with the general personalities, romance, and storyline and it's refreshing to see the emotional and realistic tone it picked up with the development. One of my favorite but most irking parts was the lunch part for which I just wanted to push Naho into handing it over because honestly it was starting to piss me off.

Can't wait till episode 3!

God. I am thankful for this show's existence. It throws importance details casually but my heart cannot take this much if it continues doing whatever it is doing right now. Wow.

I am glad for a weird direction of orange as compared to its shoujo peers.

PS: I have a blog and I am currently writing for these shows this season. If you have the time, kindly pay a visit. Thanks!

Why do I feel like Kakeru will not be saved and I'm going to cry so much, haaah...I'm already preparing myself for feels...

Naho and Kakeru are really cute together, but I think I like Suwa best ! He's just too cute and cheerful !
Waiting 10 minutes for Kakeru to reply...So much patience.

Me:
When she hesitated to make the bento : "No, just do it already ! You will regret it !
When she didn't give him the bento : "Gosh, Naho, just give itttt to him !"
When she finally gave it to Kakeru and he smiles : "..." // teary eyes.

Yup, this anime will ruin my life.

This is hard to watch. So much awkwardness. Yet it's good. Just have to stop myself from thinking about it as time-travelling sci-fi. Nothing good can come out from that side, that's for sure.

Interesting coloring. What it is called? Color design? It's not exactly bleached, but that clear sky that looks at times like a storm cloud... Strange feeling. Like background is blended with black and white film? A memory? How you are seeing the world when you are about to faint? Can't pinpoint it, but it's produces strange and interesting picture.

The shot of the trees in the intro are freaking great. That beginning portion seemed so happy, cute, and strange at the same time, like, it seemed like things were going way too well, and it calmed down with the lunch issue, but I found myself waiting for something to come up, and then he goes and says his mom commit suicide, and I got sad. Feels hit hard. AND THEN IT HIT HARDER WITH HAPPY FEELS AND I WAS HAPPY.

Same. I was getting kinda annoyed by how timid she was, but the fact that she faced her fears and gave it to him in the end was really redeeming.

So Naho in the present is with Suwa and they also have a kid...but she sends her past self a letter to be "lovey-dovey" with Kakeru? Doesn't she feel any sorry for Suwa? If Kakeru wouldn't die Naho would be with Kakeru. Not Suwa. I like the pair Kakeru x Naho but...isn't it kinda bad for Suwa?

Why? She was in love with Kakeru. Then he died, time passed, and they all moved on. It's life. I think ignoring her past existence and regrets would be just as unhealthy as, say, hanging on your teenage crush for your whole life. Even if he's dead.

I never said she should ignore it or forget him. But she is trying to change the past. And since she moved forward and chose another man I don't think she should hang on her teenage crush... it can be a memory...

The other net I looked into was discussing about how Naho regretted marrying Suwa that is why she was writing to her younger self. Some others argued that in the manga, Naho was not regretting it at all.

After gone through the discussion, I come to a conclusion that maybe, this anime will also end like boku dake ga inai machi.

The heroine will end up marrying the second guy even if she save the (who we are think to be) hero. And this is just sad.

The episode was scripted really well, dunno if it was like it in the manga

The emotions were delicate, as you would expect in a shoujo, and it was very enjoyable, not overly original but still

The OP is nice as I thought
And I really am loving the voice-acting, it's so natural-- they really are putting a lot of effort into this adaptation

Naho has a habit of being influenced from others, doesn't she? She was going to give up on hearing her mom talking about stuff, but then she read the letter, and changed her mind. I like that, it's realistic

"I'll hand it over to him quickly, and then run away" lmao cute

Naho really is cute, I'm liking her a lot more in this adaptation. Hanakana delivers
This is gonna be a great ride (hoping for a alternative ending)

The animation is so fucking sexy so far, it's ridiculious!
A very heart-warming show and I nearly got to tears although it wasn't that dramatical yet.
Kakeru seems a very nice guy and I hate to know that he will die because of a car crash.
A very good drama anime after a while!

Wow, do these kids ever study?!?

Did Hagita become a handsome bishounen? Did Naho marry Suwa?
I ship Azusa and Hagita because as kids, honestly, they go together really well. And they're cute, too.
As for Naho x Kakeru, I'm really glad Kakeru isn't like that transfer student Plato from Glasslip. He opens up really quickly, and I like that about him. As for Naho, she's OK so far. Not annoying, not appealing either.

I like the animation. Sometimes it looks kind of uncanny, but it's amazing otherwise. The music isn't my type though. The story so far is great too. Maybe it's a little too early to say, but this might become one of my favourite shoujo anime

MC girl is pissing me off. Her timidness is neither cute or a turn on, it's pissing me off. I know it's part of her character and she said that a letter won't change her personality but fuck it, she can be annoying. At least she finally gave Takeru the bento. I hope this will spiral into better things but I know there will still be some complications because it would be boring if everyone was hunky dory.

After reading the letter and KNOWING it predicted the future, why does she still do stupid things? I know people are going to defend her but she is quite annoying for not acting when she could've done something.

This episode didn't blow me away, and I can already feel myself growing a little weary of the letters from the future conceit. It wasn't bad either though, for starters I thought this episode was a whole lot less choppy. I can also see the characters besides the main two are starting to become less flat and lifeless so that's good. I liked the two leads scene together at the end, it was a little overly familiar but it worked. My biggest question now is, since she's all changing the past now will they actually save dead boy?

Really loving this show right now, definitely AOTS atm. The chemistry between the characters is fantastic, and especially between Naho and Kakeru!

Death of his mom really hit me, as I recently lost my Mom as well. But his reaction to the bentou was pure win! Naho can be his kaasan.

Btw, Naho is best girl this season by far! Hanakana is mesmerizing! I just want to squeeze her!

Another great episode! And we were finally told what whole plot is about.. I wonder if she didn't ask him the first day, would his mom still be alive?
I guess we already know why he didn't want to go anywhere, she was probably labile and overdependend on him he just watched her.

But I still have to wonder - does she regret her child? Cause if future is changed, if she dates Kakeru there will be no such kid.
Still, he probably dies anyway in the end, I guess it's inevitable. I bet this whole this series serves only as means for her to finally settle with her loss and move on. She was just going through everything in her head while writing the letter imagining what would become if her younger self would acted differently.

And that imagination is this series.

Now I'm thinking the reason the letter in episode 1 stated to not invite him is that maybe if he went home right away, he would've walked in on his mom starting to commit suicide and saved her right away. That is so heartbreaking and at the same time pisses me off because the letter should've stated that. Oh, the more I think about this show, I'm not sure if I'm gonna wind up loving it or loathing it.

So if they save Kakeru will that mean that Nako ends up with him and not Suwa? That's a bit complicated. Great that Kakeru is saved, but weird if she knows she has Suwa as a second choice and will be letting him down. Or if love grows for Suwa later, will that still be possible with Kakeru in the picture? So many feelings!

Well plot seems really obvious at this point. Still an Awesome episode and will most likely be an awesome series. We all know his "Accident" called it in episode 1 before knowing about his mom. That's the biggest reason why they would have such regret. Playing catch up lol should have started this series sooner.
