The moment when Taki-sensei finally approved Tsukamoto's trombone.

Taki didn't say "Okay", "Good" or any other kind of contented words directly. But it was clear for Tsukamoto (and the others) that Taki said "Keep it up!" with satisfaction at the time.

Possibly, Taki-sensei should be a bit more talkative but when I heard it I was really happy as if I had been a player of the band.

I loved the shouting. Shuichi shouting was great too, but all the spotlight was on Kumiko. One of the best shouting scenes I've seen done by KyoAni.

and lol at the end, at Eupho-kun, Kumiko was like I jizz piss in my pants!

Thought Taki-sensei simply wanted to hear the other Euhpo player so was a bit surprised when Kumiko took it personally. Taki-sensei normally is more direct with his criticism after all. Also that running scene? Unf

This episode has been one of the best so far. Finally focusing on what matters.

-I know nothing about specific euphonium fingerings but I know that the intervals between the notes that Asuka played were consistent with her fingerings
-Kumiko's first try at doubling the contrabass turned pretty jazzy at the end
-The sweat during Kumiko's practice section was eerily detailed
-That's some, uh, dedication to power through that nosebleed and not notice it, but wasn't the sweat enough to get that point across
-Shuichi also making distinct improvement in the part Taki told him to practice
-Aoi still sticking with her decision to quit the band, which actually contrasts pretty nicely with what the band has been up to in her absence.
-It just occurred to me in this episode, but it's only toward the end of the season that the 4 main girls started appearing in the eyecatches.
-Sweet ol' Green sapphire wrapping up her fingers after practicing so hard
-Damn that was pretty harsh to exclude Kumiko from playing the part she's been practicing for forever without even acknowledging her
-Yelling
-Huh, the comparison to the first scene shown in the first episode was actually something impactful that came out of all that yelling, although it took me a moment to realize that she didn't actually hear some distant band playing Orpheus in the Underworld
-A change in Kumiko's music playing attitude is outright stated in the episode, in contrast to her attitude in the beginning of the show when euphonium playing was just something that she did because the ensemble needed it.
-Taki once again managing to squeeze out the potential in his students (in this case, Kumiko) in the very roundabout, "do-it-yourself" way that he's infamous for doing

General theme of this episode was progress, not just for the festival but also for Kumiko herself. This struck me as kind of weird since she's like never been the focus of anything since the very beginning of the show. I suppose the end of the season would be the most fitting place to stick some more character development for her. Speaking of which, Reina and Kumiko still complement each other pretty well, and the little duet they did during one of Kumiko's solo practice sessions served to emphasize this character dynamic even more.

While a lot of important stuff happened in this episode, it didn't really make an impression on me like some of the earlier episodes did. I had more of like an "oh yeah that makes sense" reaction to pretty much everything this episode, which wasn't what I'd call a strong reaction.

Easily the best episode of this series drama-wise. Only the most important, interesting characters were focused on and everything was superbly done. I got some "Whiplash" feels from Kumiko's desperation to get better.

This is definitely not the same Kumiko that we met in the first episode. She's come a long way. And Reina was extraordinarily nice in the whole episode, practicing with Kumiko, bringing her water and meeting with her at night...

Aww Kumiko tears💔
But it’s nice to see how much she has changed over this season alone. She wants to improve more than ever. She wants to win the competition and she wants to go to nationals. And she’s not alone in that. It’s what everyone wants. Their attitudes have completely changed and I love it

Fight harder for Kumiko and don't give up. Wow, Kumiko is alone with Taki Sensei and it seems Reina is jealous.

Another Powerful episode right here!

Kumiko’s frustrations and hard work seemed to have been in vain but I’m so glad that it is not! Some wonderful buildup to that though, another demonstration of some really good writing behind the mechanism of this show! Dat moment of her screaming “I want to get better” in her mind followed by the outburst of emotions there along with Shoichin was wonderful to see! I know I’ve said this numerous times, but jeez glorious animation! And then..
Mate, those tears though.

Anyway, it’s good that Take-sensei is willing to give her another chance. He’s a really considerate person so I didn’t think he completely dropped it despite the decision there to have Tanaka-san play along there out of the blue but honestly I’d doubts. So again, good to see how it eventually turned out. Kumiko restless to let Kousaka-san to know about the Development was really nice to see too but xD @ those final moments. Reina’s jealousy, ah this was just pure greatness! Kumiko, on the other hand, totally ignoring her and going on about the euph toy was glorious, lmao. Brilliant stuff! It seems like she’s probably made up her mind to take music classes and specialise in that major too, can’t wait to see how that goes!

Over all, totally psyched for the finale episode! It’s been a thoroughly entertaining watch so far and I’m sure the next will deliver too!

Kumiko becoming Reina is the worst shit which can happen in this anime.
I can see clearly the downfall of Kumiko. She is not the kind person she was before. As Hazuki said that Kumiko feels like she is "detached". Kumiko became self-obsessed like Kousaka.
I wish Kumiko return to be Kumiko again. I love Kumiko so much and can't watch her crying like that, Reina is a witch!
I am crying inside very hard....

Seeing Kumiko cry over how her hard work doesn't translate to results as fast as she wished was sad. But it was great that Taki-sensei wasn't as mean as I thought, still giving Kumiko encouragement but not pampering his students.

The moment with Reina was extra cute. Especially how Kumiko was so focused on Eupho-kun while Reina was flustered and confused about what Kumiko meant when she was with Taki-sensei until just now. It was really cute to see Reina being like "Hello? Hey, Kumiko. What do you mean you were with him? Hey, Kumiko."

Episode that in the character of Kumiko finally marks the end of his way of being cold and selfless, to embrace a new dimension, fully accepting the role of Euphonius player. The narrative also gives a way to understand how important friendship with Reina's character is, which leads her to improve herself and the relationship with the characters of Hazuki and Midori, which prove to be fundamental in moments of support. Last but not least, the script does well to understand how much improvement can be born if at the basis of everything there is passion in what you do and in having your mind free from doubts and reluctances. Great merit of the narration and also having moments of decompression, which give way to not having an atmosphere too serious for the duration of the episode, the credit goes to the usual character of Asuka, but also from the unexpected couple formed by the characters of Yuuko and Natsuki. Excellent drawings and animations, while the backgrounds are fabulous as usual. Once again, the episode managed to amaze me thanks to the characters who demonstrate once again how they can be unpredictable in their way of doing things. Kumiko proves that she is not sincere with herself, which leads her to be hesitant.

Good to see Kumiko changed a lot to the point where she really cares but also devastating to see her suddenly being cut off from a certain part after all the practice (heck she even got a nose bleed). Kinda irritates me seeing Taki as advisor, I support him being strict but him constantly asking 'can you play that part?' would be really demotivating imo, also I believe he should be a little more clear with things like asking only Asuka to play the euph part for the ensemble while he actually still believes in Kumiko being able to do her part

Kumiko finally understands what Kousaka went through when she got the dud gold medal and couldn't get into the Nationals. But atleast Taki-sensei encouraged her a bit

Seeing Kumiko and Shuichi scream like that in public gave me second hand embarrassment.

Kumiko do be roasting her sis and Reina being jealous of Kumiko cause she was alone with Taki-sensei was funnyXD

Now this was one such instance of drama done well. Kumiko realizing the weight of her own words and now knowing the frustration of not making the mark was executed and nailed flawlessly with that sprinting plus crying segment.

Taki-sensei might be dead serious about the business, but hey you need to be lenient sometimes too. The key is to keep the people motivated with their morale high.

Kumiko's been practicing so hard! Those rehearsal scenes were neat. I like the way the summer heat is depicted, you can almost feel it through the screen; be careful of dehydration, everyone! ^^'

The moment Kumiko realized she loves the Euphonium was so sweet! <3
