The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat, Episode 3
My Thoughts:
The idea that spells come to the magic user by divine revelation and that the more spells the magic user casts, the more divine revelations of spells he or she gets, is a good approach to a magic system.
Lugh and Dia can create handfuls of gold. Why don’t they talk about the riches that this implies?
All that talk about the values of the Tuatha Dé house by Cian sounds shallow after the execution of Margaret.
Cutting Margaret's hand was unnecessary and shows a sadistic side of Lugh.
Three episodes in and the power creep is big.
Event Summary:
Lugh is seven years old. Dia is three years older than Lugh.
Dia is going to teach everything there is about magic to Lugh in just two weeks.
Dia gives Lugh a Fahr Stone. Fahr Stones can be used to store mana.
Dia tells Lugh there aren’t many people that can produce as much mana as him, even adults.
Lugh has been able, with Rapid Recovery and Limitless Growth, to increase his mana a thousandfold.
Lugh's amount of mana amazes Dia.
Lugh is putting too much mana into the Fahr Stone. The Fahr Stone is starting to break. He throws it into the sky, and it explodes with great power. Dia looks at Lugh with fear. Lugh’s parents ask about the explosion, and Dia takes responsibility.
Lugh asks for more Fahr Stones, and Dia tells him that Fahr Stones are a treasure of Viekone and can’t be given to people of other lands.
Dia has two magic affinities, and she is the only one she knows with two affinities.
Dia tests Lugh for magic attributes. He has all four.
Dia helps Lugh with the conversion of his Earth Magic attribute.
After using his Earth affinity for the first time, Lugh is having “memories” of something that looks like letters. Dia tells him that he just learned a spell because taking mana from an attribute can make him learn spells by revelation from God. The more often one casts spells, the more spells one will receive. To cast a spell, one has to speak the incantation in one’s mind. The more accurate the pronunciation, the better the results of the spell.
Lugh asks Dia if it is possible to use spells not given by divine revelation but just by reciting the spells written by others. Dia is skeptical but curious about that. Lugh is successful at creating iron using a spell given to him by Dia.
Dia can recite the spells but doesn’t know what the words in the spells mean.
Lugh promises that if Dia transcribes all the spells she knows, he will do anything she wants. Lugh wants to learn the language of spells.
There are 36 magic letters.
For the creation of metals, the spell uses numbers to determine the kind of metal. The numbers are specific gravity, melting point, and atomic weight.
Dia tries to use the spell for the creation of gold that Lugh created but is unable to do so and gets a strong headache.
Lugh creates a big amount of gold.
Lugh thinks that it appears to be the case that people without the Spell Weaver skill can use spells that have not been given to them by divine revelation.
Lugh modifies the spell to create gold to a form that Dia could use, and she does it successfully.
Lugh creates a spell to create a rifle. This allows Lugh to use some of his assassination skills from his previous life.
Lugh is making artillery. Using that cannon, he destroyed a small hill.
Dia asks Lugh to promise that he will visit her when she really wants him to. He promises that he will.
Cian tells Lugh that he is ready to tell him the truth about Tuatha Dé.
The motto of Tuatha Dé is: “The skill of House Tuatha Dé must be used for the prosperity of the Alvan Kingdom.
The medical techniques of the House of Tuatha Dé should be used to sustain the lives of exceptional people.
The assassination techniques of House Tuatha Dé are only for excising the kingdom’s illnesses and preventing harm.”
Cian takes Lugh to a prison where the death row inmates are kept. Lugh remarks that concentrating the death row inmates in that prison is done so the prisoners can be used for medical experiments and killing practice.
Lugh asks Cian why he raised him to be hesitant about killing people. Cian explains that the Tuatha Dé are not tools but act according to their principles. They don’t kill just because they are ordered to. They determine if the job will benefit the kingdom and understand why they are killing.
Cian and Lugh enter the execution chamber. A young woman is tied to a chair and starts begging for her life, trying to justify the acts that led to her being there. Cian says that the woman is Margaret, 19 years old. Lugh cuts off Margaret’s left hand. He takes a moment to brag about how awesome the knife is that he used to cut her hand. To that, Margaret responds by spilling the beans, telling them that she is not remorseful and reproaching Cian for lying to her by telling her that she would be spared if she begged for her life. Then Lugh kills her.
