I absolutely loved this. Aoba is cute, but not overbearingly. The jokes were spot-on. The references to real-life stuff like Maya and such were amazing...and best of all it somehow made me actually care about the characters already. When she found out who her senpai was and fangirled, I was extremely happy for her...and when they said she was going the sequel to her favorite game, my eyes watered a bit even though I knew that's what it was gonna be lol. I absolutely loved this first episode. Also noticed most the main cast are rather new seiyuu, but they all did an amazing job.

I think it's best idea by introducing each character on eps 1

I hope it's getting better next episode
4/5 from me

Extremely cute episode~ I couldn't get over how adorable everyone is, especially Hifumi-senpai. It also proved to be a lot more funny than I anticipated. The characters were also introduced well. Really excited for the rest of this show.

the moment when you find yourself working with the staff who made your favorite game and moreover the moment when you find yourself making the sequel of your favorite game with the same staff who made your previous game as your senpai...

my god the animation is really well made imo. overall, it was a really relaxing and entertaining anime overall. just make it a little bit more mature like shirobako this anime would be way better than this but i still like it too. really enjoy the first episode a lot. op and ed song sounds nice to hear too. and i'm getting gochuusa vibe too. the character design kinda similiar to gocchuusa too btw imo.

looking foward for the next episode.

Lovely character designs

I love the first episode so far, reminds me when I first joined the workforce. My optimism didn't last long though once I went through the 'peak' (I'm an Auditor in the Big 4). That experience pretty much shoots down the mood lol.

But then again I didn't have the passion in what I was doing, so I'd love to see how the stories goes if you're passionate in what you're doing. Can't wait to watch when they hit the 'peak' period haha

A pretty meh start. I do like the characters. The comedy was only okay and everything else is pretty generic. I may come back and marathon this one if I hear good things about it. But my listfor the season is already getting too big for this one.

Not a fan. It was like a dumbed down version of Shirobako centered on the gaming industry. For a first episode it really underwhelmed.

I'm a tad disappointed the game-making aspect seems to be only secondary so far, but it's cute and comedic enough to not be a big issue.

Loved the first episode and looking forward to more!

(Late reply, I'm sorry.)

Being in this field I can tell you that they actually presented the first day of work at a new game company rather well. The atmosphere was just right (outside of crunch time) in how they have toys all over the place and everyone is super casual. The part where the girl stands up and plays with her light saber is actually a common thing that animators do in order to figure out the proper stances of characters, though honestly I have no idea how that kind of action relates to what sounds like a game about fairies. Getting locked outside when going to the bathroom is a potential issue depending on how the building is set up.

The first few weeks of any new job in the games industry are spent learning the tools (if you don't know them already), looking over the "project flow" (figuring out how your section's workflow is set up, and if you are a coder you are figuring out the structure and conventions of the application), and socializing with the other staff members. I would be more surprised (and disappointed) if she was sent directly to work in this episode. This episode actually did a surprising job of getting the atmosphere correct.

Visuals-wise, it's not as over-animated as Sansha Sanyou, but still pretty :p

That aside, this seems like it's gonna be one of the mediocre SoL shows that I'm just gonna watch because I have nothing else to do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hmm. I mean it is anime after all but couldn't they have at least put a few men in that company? Other anime managed to do that, too, and was still well received. It just seems unlikely that there wouldn't be any men with enough skills for the job interested in it.

Well. It was fun anyway. And I don't mind a full female cast. It was just weird to see a company without men. I mean school anime gets away with it easily considering there are still girl schools nowadays but it just seems unlikely for a company. Especially in that field of work.

I'm really curious to see how they portrait the shit about to go down :D For now it was relatively close to how these things go (exaggerated a bit of course but close nonetheless)

I was really blind-sided here, I thought this would maybe, just maybe, be OK to kill half an hour with. I wasn't expecting to love it nearly as much as I did. Like other posters I was initially concerned about where this would go, if anywhere, but am comforted by the fact that in four seasons of watching to love ru, it's yet to go anywhere and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Well... As a GameDev myself I approve it. It might seems 100% female in a company might me too much fantasy, but we just saw character design branch of Eagle Jump. And I personally know 2 companies where their artists are 80%+ female... ok but not this many MOE! :D

I like it, can't wait for second EP, and I hope to see more crunch. ;)

I guess no men exist in this world (it seems like a pretty large company too so I thought that was a little amusing), but that's all right as the girls are all cute. And well, it's no Shirobako that's for sure. I doubt the game making aspect will be as thoroughly explored as Shirobako did with anime. Though that aspect is there so it does give it an edge over the countless CGDCT anime that are out there.

I'll follow along for now to see what it has to say about the game industry.

I feel like the gender makeup of this company is exactly the polar opposite of what it is in real life... not that women don't work for game companies, nor that they shouldn't, but that the industry as whole is still very much biased against them.

why did she not get fired yet?
why are there no programmers in a game company?
they need to hire programmer not useless shit like her that spends over half her work time in bathroom and tea time

My kind of shit, Doga Kobo with the SOL Greatness once more. Well anyway I know that the way they present the workplace is kinda a bit whitewash with the lighthearted moe and the way they are all female in this company but after reading some chapters of this one and watching this right now and contemplating with my college life right now since I'm almost at peak with the graduation with a mix of hell seriously though I kinda regret myself taking IT at this point instead of game development right now since I concluded that I'm more with the pure logical programming geek than doing programming with a mix of some business analyst subject bullcrap that I'm fed up taking those every single term but because of money in the future I'm led to this shit but just looking at Aoba working with your favorite game is like the best feeling for me as a gamer even better when you meet the staff behind it which makes the fanboyism stronk.
Anyways that Hifumi right there is almost exactly my persona IRL so I can definitely relate with her in some way in terms of working with the team, also is that even legit that people can go staightly into pro after highschool , since in my country you need to have at least a college degree in game design before you do that kind of shit.

First thing i thought of after watching this anime is it's actually an inflated fantasy of studio Gust working on a new Atelier game with Shimotsuki Haruka as lead director...(I swear that's first name that pops up when i heard 'Shizuku Hazuki' lol...)

Yeah this was pretty alright, probably one of the stronger premieres of the season. This is the first and last time I'm going to compare the two but it kind of seems like a stupider more fan servicey Shirobako to me. I say stupider because there's less characters, ALL of them are various moe blobs and I don't know I don't see it being as thoughtful or kind of transcendent as the other series. For starters Shirobako is a really effective love letter to the process of making anime, because it was made by an anime studio who know the ins and outs of the business. Here the video game developing side seems under cooked, and frequently takes a hard backseat to panties and cuteness. It's a sad reflection of how weak this Summer Season is that this is coming out one of the stronger series.

While I'm not a big fan of the art style, what elevated it a little is I did enjoy a lot of the cast. I'll learn their names as we go, but I particularly liked too shy to speak senpai and super athletic senpai. The protagonist is also pretty cute although she has my least favorite design. The first episode had some funny relatable gags about working in an office though little that distinguished it as being about video game developers. I was really amused by the recurring gag of main girl forgetting her badge going to the bathroom and getting stuck outside the office. And I laughed the hardest at supervisor sensei chastising her for frivolous use of PMs.

I think this series could improve a lot by the end. As is a lot of things didn't impress me about it. The cast as a whole wasn't particularly strong, I already mentioned that I'm not a big fan of the art style, and I most of all I thought it was kind of head in palm stupid how of course the fake video game sensei worked on is the same on that inspired main girl to work in video games. Even more laughable that the main girl now gets to work on the sequel to this game. We'll see how it goes.

This is okay first episode. Cute and laidback.

Her first day of office work remind me of myself back then.

I know private messages are use to prevent or minimize disrupting a person's work and can reply if the person has free time. And you don't have to approach them in person.

Its funny how Aoba became a little too familiar with her skirtless boss and told her to know her place. For some reason it made me a bit uneasy. It reminded me of the same thing when my friend told me how he became too familiar with his superior and told him his position. Makes me think I want to go to freelancing someday.

going back to the anime, wether it'll touch more about reality or now, I think I'll enjoy this series.

Interesting theme about life outside school (Finally !) .. is what i thought at first, but at the end of ep 01 turns out I didn't enjoy it as much as Kono Bijutsubu ni wa Mondai ga Aru.

No, it's not the theme. Like I said, I actually am glad it covers more mature life elements beyond school gate.
Maybe either the character designs are out of my preference, or the lack of character variation (all-women casts are boring, not to mention it practically eliminate any romance save from yuri which is not my thing), or the comedy simply didn't get to me..

Gonna watch until ep 04 (since I got them it would be a shame to delete 'em without giving 'em a chance) though I doubt I would continue beyond it

I already read the manga before the anime. I'm glad it is 24 minutes anime :D i thought they would make it to short animation. I think the studio did a pretty good job for this series. The chara design, the voice actresess, song are good.
Aoba-chan is so moe here :3 my favorite scene are when she (in chibi form) was jumping in front of the office door, panicking, coz she can't get in to the office.

New Game isn't very detail or realistic as Shirobako. This anime is more light-hearted with more joke and "yuri" feels. Totally my favorite
