It literally does not matter to me, at all. Anyone can watch any genre without being judged, based on there gender.

Come now, aren't we a bit to old for this? Some girls like to play with action figures, some boys like to play with dolls. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm actually very interested in shoujo because it doesn't count me in its target audience. It'll be interesting to see how things look like from the female perspective. I don't see it enough.

I'm a girl. As long as a show has an interesting premise I will watch it. I don't care about the demographic.

I'm not really "avoiding " shoujo but I could watch half of 007 ghost.
And I dropped because there wasn't action and there was too much affection between 2 guys

While I do agree with that statement overall, name one recent good shoujo besides Monogatari and Yona that is actually good. Ao Haru Ride? Ookami Shoujo ? Soredemo ? Like c'mon...

I thought Donten ni Warau was pretty fun.

I can't relate to the 'female perspective' depicted in most shoujo series.

Have you tried watching Nana, Skip Beat!, Princess Tutu, Rose of Versailles, or Natsume's Book of Friends?

I'm not looking to relate to an anime. I'm watching stuff to be exposed to new ideas. I don't want a show to simply cater to me.

Princess Tutu is underrated. Glad to see some appreciation for it.

I enjoyed all of the titles you've listed as well as Shirayuki. I don't know why you'd dislike them, really. From the examples given as bad, it sounds like you may not like bickering couples, or tsundere male love interests. While I thought Kyouya was a prick most of the time, I liked how it was handled ultimately and liked Erika. The others had dynamics I enjoyed even more. In fact, while Ore is great, it can be a little bland at times in comparison to shoujo with more conflict. Not that it isn't a good show with conflict itself.

Also, there are too many bland battle shounen to think that even bland shoujo would be generally worse.

I'm female, but shounen series have often ended up being in my favourites. I don't try to avoid shoujo though, and there's been a couple of shoujo shows I've loved (Princess Tutu probably being my eternal favourite).

I don't avoid them. my favourites here on MAL include at least one from every demographic so I feel like I can really love an anime no matter the demographic. I am a girl and I am less interested in shounen anime generally so I'm usually more keen on watching shoujo, josei and seinen, but in the end demographics don't mean too much to me.

You need to watch Akatsuki no Yona & Skip Beat

Just watch Skip Beat, Yona is not good enough and really slow paces.

The slow pacing is a good thing in Yona. The only problem about the show is the open ending & the comedy.

The overall art style of shoujo is pretty gross, though I haven't really read that much to be fair. Though Confidential Confessions was really well done I'd say.

Josei is way more appealing.

As a girl, I enjoy any and all well-made anime. It would be silly to avoid shounen because it "for boys" (meaning there's more action basically) or to avoid shoujo because it's "for girls".

I avoid shoujo yeah but not because I'm 100% sure I won't enjoy it because I'm not its target audience. I did enjoy some shoujo anime but their very very minimal like out of 10 shoujos only 1 or 2 are the ones I found enjoyable to watch but if something's interesting enough demographics won't matter to me.

Yeah josei is actually the most realistic genre in terms of romance. No teenage drama, fanservice, or fairytale like prince/princess. Just women and men and life.

Hell no. I am a guy, and I have to say that:

-Cardcaptor Sakura is part of my childhood, and I want to rewatch it.
-Ditto for Kaitou Saint Tail.
-I am loving Oniisama e... (Dear Brother): Need to pick it up again.
-Ditto for NANA.
-I loved Ao Haru Ride
-And last but not least: Revolutionary Girl Utena is one of my all-time favorite anime.

And these are all shoujo.
I am Aleister Morningstar, once General of the 13th Battalion of the Hellsoldiers, and now the Grand-Lord of the Grand Order of the Hellsoldier.

I am Hellsoldier, first and foremost.

Not replying with SJW junk, but if a man can't watch a good shoujo and maybe even cry a bit then he's not a true man. It's like singing enka as a man - being able to be both strong and sentimental, that is the essence of a real man. Even Freddy knows, and he's gayer than you.

I rarely care about that... I just read the description and if it's interesting I'll give it a try.

Though if there's a show with a description that sounds okay-ish but still not convincing and has shoujo as tag I clearly won't watch it.
I guess I got my dislike of shoujos from my best friend who watches/ reads many of those and my and her tastes are quite opposite.
Those shoujos with a girl and a guy liking each other but both being shy to say it are terrible.. or even worse: girl with no personality at all being chased by lots of guys ughhhh -.-

Shounen is great for me in general though (I'm a girl) even better if rated 17+ and/or paired with any of action/horror/psychological etc

A story about two shy people who are into each other sounds more exciting than WANTING TO BE THE BEST. There's more room for character exploration in the former.
