I haven't read the source material for this so coming into this fresh. The technology definitely has a bit of influence into this show connecting the world and its characters.

There's a sense of crime mystery to this with the way this episode progressed. Echika has an analytical mind given her ability in this anime. Maybe her personality could develop a bit though. Harold is partnered with her so they're the main core.

It's been awhile since we've tackled Psycho-Pass or ID:Invaded levels of mystery sci-fi stuff, as is novelist Mareho Kikuishi's series here.

yama's OP is rather fine, same as 9Lana's ED, but at least they're fire.

The smart thread information terminal AR device known as Your Forma available to all Amicus mechanical human robots, both Cyber Inspection Department detectives of Diver Echida Hieda and Belayer Harold W. Lucraft accompanying the latter's friend of Bigga before sending her off safely, but Scotland Yard coming in to apprehend Harold of assault and battery because he's affiliated to the Amicus Royal Family (RF) Model attacking, though he's framed because someone else did the job, and it just so happens to look like him. But they could not have thought that another Amicus, the wife of a detective (and Echida's friend), Darya has gotten herself into the case as yet another victim of the St. Petersburg Amicus nightmare.

This prompts an urgent meeting with the Interpol and the Amicus's parent company of Novae Robotics, and Hieda needs to intercept with her Brain Dive to stop the accusations of the police into blaming Harold and his affiliate family of robots to figure out the culprit soon. And sure, while the culprit looks like Harold, there's a distinct difference with the use of the knives related to a college facility, and its creator of Lexie Willow Carter, to find out what this case lurks information they don't know.

Need to see more to see of this show's worth, but starting off this far into the source material a.k.a. Volume 2 is just egregious.

For me this is what dystopia looks like no anonymity being bombarded with information you didn't ask for and worst of all ads right in your face when your just taking a walk. it really sounds like hell.
I already think authorities know to much about me but this is way worse, luckily it's fiction but we should do everything in our power to prevent something like this.

Anyway despite the society being so advanced it was still a car dependent place and many of the cars where still running on fossil fuels it also stood out that the where using news papers something you don't really need anymore.
It should be mentioned that was a Lada as well a car that's been around for decades.

Is for the characters and storyline, i think i need to give this more time to give judgement on that.

Finally it’s here! Had the first book for years and my homie been tryna get me to read this for ages but I haven’t got to it. Really interesting premiere. I’m such a sucker for stories that explore the relationship between humanity and technology. Crazy that no one licensed this.

Very heavy premiere with a TON of info dumped on us at once, I was a bit confused, but I understood just enough to get me really interested in the story. Classic robot/human murder case with an innocent robot being framed. Heavy shades of Pluto and ID:invaded with this series which makes me very excited. Early contender for best OST of the season as well, that soundtrack is GODLY. Yama cooked on the OP, seiyuus are great, the sci-fi atmosphere.. I’m digging this.

I hope the story gets a little easier to follow along with tho. Feels like they dropped a lot of terms, events and backstory on us in one episode and I really left here knowing is androids aren’t supposed to kill humans and one tried to(classic sci-fi) and the MC can dive into people’s memories ala ID:Invaded. I wonder who it’ll be that’s behind all of this, I love a good conspiracy theory!!

The science has advanced a lot, and now we’ve got AIs that can walk around—kinda cool, to be honest.

I’m not sure how I feel about this show yet. I’ll have to keep watching to fully understand everything that’s going on. Here’s hoping it gets more exciting as the story progresses!

It has a nice visual presentation even though the story about robot suspecting of violating Asimov's law is quite outdated. But in the era when dozen of similar isekai anime getting aired every season, I can't complain about its originality when other anime are much worse.

Apparently the anime skipped over the entire first volume, so if you're feeling like you're missing critical information as to what's even happening in this show that's probably why

I found it interesting. The vibe is kind of like Psycho-Pass, with advanced technology and investigations, which got me hooked. The main duo seems to have a good dynamic, and I’m curious to see how they’ll develop Harold, considering he’s an android. The animation is okay—nothing spectacular, but it works for the story’s atmosphere. Now, I just have to see if the plot maintains its pace in the next episodes because the concept has a lot of potential

This felt so weird to me. I've read the books so I understood what they were saying, but I have no idea if any of it is comprehensible to anime onlys. All the characters present were supposed to be properly introduced and developed, but instead they're just there and it kinda starts randomly. Like, I felt really bad for Darya when she gets assaulted here in voume 2, but how can viewers who've literally just seen her feel anything about it?

The main hook too, the Amicus attacking a human, is a big event at the end of the first volume... whatever. Even just looking at what they adapted of volume 2, it was pretty rushed. I did however really like how they did the Brain Dive, that was cool.

So, sure, the animation is quite decent and I like the character designs but isn't this just Metallic Rouge all over again? Well, I at least hope the story is good.
I'm always up for detective sci-fi anime.

Interesting premise.

Robots in this series' reality are real, and the main protagonist is a girl. owo

P.S. I would've also hoped for a sequel for ID:Invaded. 🥲

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Intresting start. This looks promising. The brain dive part was particularly nice.

So this skips entire introduction arc. Although I understood the general premise some parts like Derya past is still not clear and idk who and what the Brigga girl was supposed to do. Weird decisions.

First seen an anime in St. Petersburg. The ED is really catchy.

As a reader of the source material...WHAT?! Why have they chose to start so far into the actual story. The pacing in the source material was FINE, and necessary to establish the bond between Echika and Harold. Why are we out of the gate skipping everything that happens in the prologue and the first few chapters, you're just throwing viewers in the deep-end with no buildup

It’s been interesting, but the pacing felt odd—it didn’t seem like a first episode. Instead, it felt more like a continuation of a previous episode (I even thought they had released a double episode and I was watching the second one). It was hard for me to follow what was happening.

I really liked the OP and ED, though. This has a vibe similar to Psycho-Pass, but with an android and a human. It could end up being pretty captivating.

This one sounded really interesting to me, and I haven’t seen a good new sci-fi show in a hot minute so I figured I’d mix it up a bit and pick this one, and so far this is looking to be pretty good, only there’s one issue… they kinda skipped the entire first book apparently lol. I didn’t know that going into the episode, but I could tell that it felt like we were thrown randomly into the story, like we’re supposed to know everyone already. Now I pretty much got what’s going on and how the world is now, it seems kinda like Detroit Become Human to me in how robots are a part of society, and there are crimes related to them, but yeah it’s a bit rough to start like this ngl.

However, I am very intrigued by this, I really want to see more of Echika and how her brain diving works (that scene looked very cool too), and I like the dynamic between Harold and Echika and want to see more of them solving cases together. Also the art and animation is pleasing so far, very nice backgrounds too, and I’m a sucker for good backgrounds lol, so yeah I think I’ll stick with this one, a shame it didn’t get picked up by a service but this isn’t the first time I’ve watched a weekly series unlicensed.

And wow that OP and ED combo tho, yama and 9Lana are huge picks, both songs are very good along with the cool visuals.

@Tithain

i haven't read the books so im really confused i thought they might have accidentally realised one of the later episodes as the first one. as you said i have no clue who any of these people are or the signifiants of things, i kinda get some thing are meant to be important because of how the characters are acting but i dont know why or even why we should care.

even if they thought volume 2 had a more intresting plot line so they wanted to make a anime of that it was just a bad idea i think to just completely miss the first volume and dive right into it because then you end up with people not understanding anything and something that might be fantastic just coming off as confusing.

Man, this is so badly written and directed. Also the VAs sound uninspired (maybe rushed in a production crunch).
I don't mind the simplistic and unsophisticated visuals, but they reinforce the impression that nobody cared about this title at any level.

The story and the worldbuilding are like somebody fed Chat GPT with I, Robot (the book), GITS, Neuromancer, some detective stuff and random japanese LNs to shape the dialogues and the kaway... Your Forma sounds like stylistic imitation of all of those without getting the idea what are sci-fi, cyberpunk, detective investigation and even human interaction. It's a piece of bad retro futurism desperately stuck in the past.

..and I am continuing watching this, just to see how bad it will get.

@LostSpectre Unfortunately, yes. They're starting from volume 2, skipping all of Echika's background, the entire story of how she meets Harold and Bigga and the event that triggers the story from this point on. That, and all the explanations about the world, the Your Forma device, the Amicus, the Laws of Respect, the RF Models and the Matoi. At some point Echika says something like "I only rarely think about my sister", and how could anyone who hasn't read volume 1 understand what she means?

I don't know if they'll try to fix this by shoving flashbacks around, but considering that they're adapting till volume 4 (based on the trailer and character profiles) it's very unlikely. I can help if anyone wants to know some of the context they ignored.

i also like the banter between our main leads

the animation is pretty stiff but after watching speed grapher i will take anything at this point

Pretty bad first episode, if as other says this just skipped over a more normal introduction it's really baffling, because the first scene of lady cop and robot cop shopping? really gave us no clues of what the heck was going on? Maybe give this one more shot, but the animation quality was also subpar. Brain diving reminded me a bit of AI: the Somnium Files

Yeah, i was also wondering why the anime was going a lot faster than i remembered from reading, and yes they did skip the entire 1st volume which is absurd because we dont get much context or background info about many parts of the episode (Bigga, Echika/Harold relationship, braindiving flashback during the meeting). since it skips so far ahead into the story already, its hard for me to see how they can weave vol 1 into the rest of the anime, especially since we are already expected to know most of the jargon shown so far--Amicus, RF models, braindiving, etc--and also that Harold as an individual will be a core talking pt of the story going forward. I do think that the more 'SOL' parts of vol 1 can be put back into the anime but we'll see

So far tho i think they are doing pretty well adapting the story if we forget about them skipping first vol; i liked their portrayal of braindiving. backgrounds and designs can be improved i think

@shadowXXe Thank you!

I was watching this thinking "who are these people and why should I care? Why does Harold doing a murder matter when I just met the dude?" There was next to zero attempt to establish anything beyond the absolute bare minimum, and now it makes sense. This fully explains why this story feels like it expects me to care about these characters and know shit already. Because it did.

Thought it was just an unconventional way for a first eps,but definitely could see that it skipped a volume.Hopefully the risky tactic will pay off.Tho wonder how much was skipped since a lot of it did felt intentionally kept in the dark unless its just the anime taking liberty.

Otherwise, that was a pretty good first eps.Liked how many lil details they crammed in their eye screens and just overall scifi environment. Can def see others overloaded trying to keep up with all the information.
