Sometimes, life doesn't go the way you want and that's a case for Michi. Then again, her opponent seemed to be pretty skilled and maybe caught her unprepared in that judo match.

This was a very lighthearted series with comedic moments with small bits of drama. Some of the other cast members also show a lot of personality so the social commentary and character interactions were entertaining. Anna in particular was amusing to watch. Good start imo.

Well, if there is a CGDCT SoL show this season, let this be one: Cute Girls Doing Judo Arts.

Michi Sonoda is one hardcore girl practiced in the art of judo, but together with her only judo teammate Sanae Takigawa, she can be a klutz at times. Witht the prideful kendo club mate Anna Nagumo, these 3 plus the chasing Towa Hiura are the ones separate in their middle school.

When it comes towards their high school in Aobanishi, both Michi and Sanae are still classmates, and Anna is still the same as ever. But a glimpse into the judo club, and there they find Towa dismantling Tatami mats because both the kendo and judo clubs share the same martial arts dojo for their activities, which the latter club is shutting down due to the no-member fulfillment. Both Anna and Towa fighting for Michi, and Sanae becomes winggirl to showcase Michi's almost-lost art of her judo skills. But true enough, Michi has enough of judo to relive her past middle school memories of not scoring Ippons ever since. And who else than Sanae to reinvigorate Michi's spirits once again.

Subway Daydream's OP is good, has a rhythmic vibe to it.

A really good and solid start. Appreciate shows like these to break the mold.

I guess we haven't got a single all-female sports anime after Extreme Hearts. It was about time.

As someone who spent seven years doing Japanese martial arts (Karate), i almost completely missed this show being even a thing this season, glad i found it. After all every anime season needs at least on show focusing on youth, and growing as a person that naturally comes with it.

And what better way to deliver the message than a school/sport setting. Also, i very much appreciate the character design, i actually can believe that these are the type of girls who do Judo irl.

Manga is fun - detailed drawings, realistic fights and wholesome relationship between friends. Sadly not all chapters are translated. Im eager to watch it animated. First episode didn't disappoint.

This one is interesting. Also looked at the manga for a bit and was surprised that it had so many chapters. Might finish this series and maybe read the rest of the manga if i can find it somewhere.

I guess I will keep watching this, I enjoyed it more than I had expected from a sport anime.
But the face of that guy in the Kendo club!  Hell, that guy looked like a beaten-up jakuza member.

@18:20 best gag lmao

There’s something about the characters designs I find appealing and the comedy is hitting the spot. Seeing how many chapters there raised mixed emotions. It's good to have many chapters to tell a story provided they don't cram too much into a single cour.

Michi quits the Judo club in her last year of junior high but comes back to join the club again in high school. I'm not expecting much from this anime but the static animation is interesting; reminds me of Yami Shibai in a way (don't ask).

Literally the first thing said in the anime is the title of it. I've watched a ton of anime, but I don't think I've ever seen one where the first word said is literally the title, unless you count the OP as well, in which there are only two I can think of, Lupin III (Part II) and Cinderella Boy.

Okay, so the animation isn't that bad. It still ain't as well animated as the 1989 Judo anime Yawara, but there aren't many Judo anime to compare this to besides that one. Hey, at least it wasn't the slideshow that the one PV made it look like it was going to be.

Overall... eh. I'll decide next episode if I'm I'm going to drop it or not, because unfortunately, I found this to be kind of boring.

I'll take the opportunity that we have a new girl focused judo show (which might be pretty good) to recommend everyone here 1989's Yawara.

I really like the characters in this show, both their design and their personalities.
The first episode was somewhat slow, but that's not a bad thing. It actually reminded me of Haikyu's first episode. Let's see how this evolves in the next episodes.

I originally didn’t pick this show but I remembered how much I enjoy SoLs focusing on unique subjects, as well as some sports anime I’ve seen like “Sports Climbing Girls” so I decided to throw this on my list today, and I’m really glad I did because this was great. The animations during the judo matches was really good, the art in general is nice and the art style is unique, and I like all the girls that were shown already.

Of course it was obvious Michi would end up doing Judo again but the sequence of events that caused it to happen was really good, and her reasoning for quitting makes sense but seeing how much she enjoys Judo itself it’s understandable she would come back. And Sanae with her glasses flares makes me laugh lol. And that song at the end was really good, it’s probably the OP but I’m not sure. Really glad I added this one to my list, looking forward to more!

That was really enjoyable, all the girls are pretty cute and interesting, bit of an underdog story too.

It's about damn time we got a judo anime. Man, I'm loving every second of it, especially when they actually fight. As someone who does judo, though still a novice, I freaking love the attention to detail. Who knows, maybe I'll somehow learn a thing or two from this show lol. Can already tell this is gonna be a good one for those who either do judo/martial arts.

Sweaty girls wrestling. Oddly sexual. Yuri much?
Also, girls seem to be plump for some reason.
At least there are a lot of beautiful feet shots.

I think this is going to be a great sports anime.

But really, looking at the score, 6.78?
I know this is not shounen, it's niche, and not for everyone. But I still expect somewhere above 7.
At least half of the people on MAL don't deserve the quality of anime we are getting nowadays. Their monke brains can't properly appreciate it.

Nothing groundbreaking but lighthearted and fun first episode. I didn't have any real expectations beyond that so I suppose there wasn't much of a chance that it'd be disappointing. The characters so far are all quite endearing and I'm waiting forward for the final main girl to be introduced (with a name like Tsumugi I can only expect good things). I can't say that the comedy had me rolling on the floor and I don't think it's that kind of anime anyway but I was smiling through most of the episode.

Also, Ito Ayasa voicing a main character? Yes, yes, yes, thankyouverymuch.

Other than that, I don't know that I'll be as invested in Mou Ippon! as I was in some of last season's all girls cast anime (I'm thinking Do It Yourself!! and Bocchi the Rock!) but for now, I'll take it for what it is: a weekly feel-good anime episode.

The complete lack of romance is cited throughout as an important element of the manga, and if I remember correctly, the author did it on purpose to avoid copying Yawara. Yes, there are some all-female tropes here (their ikemen onna sensei and the coach of the opposing team was her fangirl during her school days), but it never goes beyond jokes. I've seen some people try to sexualize it, but it's either shipping goggles or a total lack of knowledge of the context of the work.

Technically it is because it's published in a Shounen magazine!

I know what you mean though, the all action battle Shounen stuff, but that Ippon at the end with its Bullet Time camera sweep and switching between outfits was a better visual/animation than I've seen in a lot of those types of shows. So yeah if it continues like this it should get more than 7.

Oh, didn't realize that. 'This is not Shounen Jump', that would be better.
But yeah, I just wish more people are able to appreciate its potential.
