Definitely getting a bit of adventure and fantasy vibes for this so far. We got to see bits of Ann's past but I felt bad that she lost her mother at such a young age. On the other hand, I'm glad to see that she is following her own dream.

Ann seems to be somewhat of an airhead but I find her personality amusing in this show so far. Animation quality looks decent, and fits for this show's setting imo.

Novelist Miri Mikawa's completed 17-volume LN series, I see the worry that this is only gonna be 12/13 episodes (which turned out to be true).

This is the life of 15-year-old Anne Halford, being wed (but pitied on) to Jonas Anders as the heir of a candy shop, but rather making a life of her very own: to be a silver sugar master in Lewiston. The relationship between humans and fairies is notorious being in a master-servant way with a fairy's wing akin to their heart as a way of obedience, but to Anne, that's not how she was brought up by her now deceased mother. Looking for a warrior fairy for her endeavors (which are majorly difficult to handle), she finds one: Shall Fen Shall, who is one but having a foul mouth, calling Anne a scarecrow and telling her to purchase him.

On the way to Lewiston, having Shall be her escort, she wears worries on her heart putting the reality that both humans and fairies can be friends, and Shall thinks that Anne is foolish, though he's not wrong at initial thought. For the Scarecrow, reality swears at her face thinking that she's a fool, and yet, still promising that she will return Shall his wing once the escort duty is done. To make matters worse, encountering a group of bandits doesn't help, and Shall has that Ikemen feel that Anne would not concede to, but when he displays his power, she realizes that she's bought someone who's a tour de force to be reckoned with.

Minori Suzuki's OP is as its name implies: Musical, with magic.

A good start, though how this adaptation will be done is still up in airs.

The amount of kabedon my man made was wayyyy too much it's ooc TT

This novel feel like a fever dream to me but I remember liking shalle cause of his calm and distant aura, the show kinda did him dirty.

Good animation in overall tho.

I'm not familiar with the source material, and this one came as a surprise to me. From the title I'd expected it to be heavy on the cute girls doing cute things and slice of life vibes, but the slavery element and beauty of the animation puled my emotions to attention throughout this first episode.

I gather from others' comments that it's likely big chunks of the source will be compromised, but as a standalone episode, this first one is exceptional. I'll definitely tune in for more cute girl making sweet things and violent fairy warrior slaughtering unsavory bandits.

Rushed? I don't feel like anything is rushed in the slightest from this episode but oh dear, they're adapting 17 volumes in 12 episodes or is this a joke really lol? Anyways this episode is one of the better animation, I kinda like it probably with the whole magical fairies type of premise just keeps me looking forward to the overall adventure, they had enough explanation about fairies life force within their wing properties thus serving humans . Anne wants to be like her mother, yeah everyone wants to be in either or not the same footprint as their parents as for pursuing in a long-term. Kinda curious w the romance between her and Challe, this guy is kinda mysterious other than he has been experienced in serving humans.

I kinda like the story that have fairy tale story, Quite nice change of theme from your regular anime.
The Episode was good in my opinion with nice relaxing story that have pretty dark aspect in there, but I kinda hope they flexing the story more deep with Ann and her mother life before jump into current time.
But, Hope episode have more time to Ann and Shall with Flashback here and there.

We have a complete Mary Sue protagonist, which is not a good sign.
I guess it will be her edgy slave, who will develop in her stead.

I wonder if this will be a fast-paced adaption, given how many episodes this one will have...and I recall reading the manga adaption had only two volumes and didn't cover all light novels. I kind of hope this adaption will end where the manga ended, but the opening hints it'll go beyond that. Well, as long as the anime will make sense in its course, I think it'll be fine even if the pacing would be too fast. After all, we've way too many series where are a lot of just 'dead moments'. The first episode looked very promising. I liked the soft color palette. The backgrounds looked a bit odd, because the watercolor style, but since this is supposed to be 'fairy tale', I suppose it's fine.

Oh it's good to see female master buying male slave because I'm tired of seeing male master buying female slave. Though the best combination is still male master + male slave.

J.C. Staff is doing a good job so far. This has the most exciting direction from this seasons line up. The premise and the master x fairy dynamic feel fresh. Or rather said I enjoy slave dom x master sub. Really hope it won't lose it's charm and that we won't rush through the story.

I like Ann's character design, especially the coloring of her dress ♡ it has all my favorite colors.

Maybe it's because this is shoujo so the coloring uses pastel colors which are very soft and give a sweet impression. I remember last season's Mushikaburi-hime also used pastel colors but this Sugar Apple Fairy Tale has an even softer tone. Loved it!

It feels like it's been quite a while since I watched romance shoujo where I like the female lead more than the male lead.. I hope Ann can arrive at her destination safely and participates in the competition.

I really like the OP!! Hearing it immediately reminds me of Barbie (or Princess) songs. What comes to my mind is Barbie as The Princess and The Pauper, hahaha.

Edit: Just rewatching this. I think this might be the anime I've been looking for and waiting for the past 2 years. Yup, if the quality stays this good and even better until the last episode then this will be my aots.

I think I really missed something sweet and gentle with likeable characters. Thank you J.C. Staff for adapting this :")

I'm totally in love. Gonna find the LN now.

I read the manga many years ago, so I don’t 100% know. But these are my three guesses:

Guess 1: (the most reasonable guess) If he attempts to steal the wing and he fails, (aka fails harder than his attempt to steal it from her in the first episode) he may be worried she’ll “drop the act” and end up squeezing his wing to hurt him... or worse. He can’t trust her at this point, even despite her claims to try to be his friend.

Guess 2: As much as an ass as he acts, he wouldn’t stoop so low as to outright kill a young defenseless girl, even if it was for his freedom.

Guess 3: (probably the actual answer) This is a Shoujo romance anime. The eventual power of LOVE will conquer all and therefore there’s no way he’d threaten to hurt his future wife 🥰

All in all, just enjoy the ride and look forward to the happiness as well as the feels that will come in the future too! 🤗
I wish more people watched Chobits.

Ah, just what I've been looking for, needed something to fill that a 70+ year old man falls in love with 15yo girl niche, and this seems just the thing XP

In all seriousness thought, this was a solid first episode, fairly new to shojo anime, but of the few I've seen, it's been a surprising enjoyable genre to get into. The fairy dynamic definitely adds a touch of spice to a typical romance, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops.

This show looks pretty good aesthetic-wise, with good background art perfect for a "fairy tale" type of story, though the themes are a bit questionable, with the slavery aspect along with the romance which seems just a bit forced. Not my favourite premiere episode of the season by any stretch, but it has potential and I enjoyed it a decent amount.

I decided to just read the LN myself, there's at least an explanation for why he waited until night to try and take it from her, which was absent in the anime. After that point it can only be assumed that he decides to stick around and let her hold onto his wing for the time being, but despite the fact he can take it back at any time, that won't stop him from giving her a hard time over their master/servant relationship. I think I would have been fine with everything in the LN, but the anime doesn't give much of any justification for how things played out so far.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

For some reason I woulda thought the drama genre would be warranted for this as it can get very serious/tense and I imagine as well that there's gonna be more serious confrontations too in later episodes about the people politics of their society in regards to fairies and whatnot so yeh ahahah

Despite this anime seeming like my kind of anime from the plot summary, I had low expectations going in. Unfortunately the writing is worse than I thought it would be. Anne is annoying, constantly going on and on about wanting to be friends with fairies yet acting like every other bad human. And Shall is slightly better written but the romance is shoved in between him and Anne like every two seconds. This feels too rushed and it’s only episode one. I’ll try to give a few more episodes a chance but so far I’m ready to drop this.
